Rock house is our favorite!!!!

In town for Ironman. Perfect location. Kitchen is updated compared to listed pictures. We felt so comfortable here. Lots of space to hang out. Fresh cut flowers in house when we arrived. We would definitely come again.

We had a great stay here. My group of skiiers loved everything about the spot. Great location close to town, hot tub for after a long day on the mountain, and well stocked with appliances and everything we needed in the kitchen. Will definitely be back!

We had 3 generations hunkered down for a cold, wintry week. The house is perfect for riding our snow storms, and close to everything for walking. The only trick is that it's pretty hilly, slippery when there is snow and ice everywhere... We had a great time, even though it was too cold to try the hot tub...

The owner was very easy to work with, and the property even better than described. It had everything one needs for a comfortable stay. We were there over Thanksgiving so had an especially large dinner and found everything needed for such an occasion. We were less than a block from Main street and were able to walk to all the restaurants and shops. Additionally, we walked from the house around the lake and up Cobble Hill trail, so you can even get an easy hike in within walking distance. Would definitely return and recommend to others.

Excellent location just a block from downtown Lake Placid. The house was clean and and in good shape. The kitchen was very well appointed and has everything needed for baking and cooking. All the details were covered including the an extra propane tank for the grill. The jacuzzi was clean and in great shape. Overall great great experience.

Our stay at the Rock House was really wonderful. Jay was very responsive, the hot tub was a hit after skiing and we loved the fireplace and well-appointed kitchen. Plus the two minute walk to Main Street gave us immediate access to all the cool things Lake Placid has to offer: shopping, ski and skate rentals, Olympic museum, toboggan chute, dog sled rides, restaurants and more. Plus nearby driving distance to Whiteface for downhill, Cascade and Mt Vanhovenberg for XC and legacy Olympic sites including the ski jump. Highly recommend; we will be back!

This house is in the perfect location, with just a short walk to town (it is a steep hill) and a short drive to anywhere else. The kitchen was fabulous. We cook in a lot after a long day outdoors and this kitchen had everything you could ever need, and high end dish ware! Likewise, there was plenty of essentials in all of the bathrooms, and plenty of wood for the fires. There was plenty of space for everyone, and the wood burning stove was the perfect ambiance for nightly board games in the living room.

Our group of eight enjoyed an extended weekend at Jay’s property over Columbus Day weekend. The home is tucked away on a street right off of Main Street, near the Upstairs Grill if you are familiar with Lake Placid. It was very convenient to walk to town for shopping, dinner, etc. The home itself is well-maintained, clean. Comfortably accommodated our group of eight. The kitchen as well equipped for our preparing meals. The hot tub, as well as the extended deck with gas fireplace was great in the evenings. Jay was responsive to any questions. We would definitely stay again!

We were in Lake Placid for a family wedding and this house was perfect. It is within walking distance to most activities and there is a lot of sleeping space and room to spread out. We also loved the hot tub.

My husband, myself and our 3 teens came up as we had never experienced Lake Placid. The Property manager went above and beyond to make sure our stay was perfect. We had the opportunity to meet one of them in person and felt like she was family. The house was so spacious for the 5 of us and our dog. There were 3 levels so we really felt like we had space to separate if needed alone time. The Perfect house and we would 100% come back. Thanks to the both of them for being easily available should we need them.

This house was great for housing two families- lots of space. And the location, so close to town, was perfect!

This home was a great stay for my family. Very spacious for everyone, had plenty of space to sleep, hang out together inside and outside. The house is a very short walk to Main St where there is plenty of activities. Jay was great to work with and very responsive with any questions or concerns. We had a wonderful time and I highly recommend this home.

The property was awesome! We were celebrating my wife's 60th with adult family and some girlfriends coming in town to celebrate. Really enjoyed the open living space, very well appointed kitchen and spent time relaxing on both decks just enjoying family time. The large dining room table was perfect for both eating and playing games, and really enjoyed relaxing around the outside fire pit. Location was great, a shot walk to anything in Lake Placid, would recommend and stay there again!

Fabulous property. Location could not be better. Right off Main Street, yet the location was quiet. You’ll get your workout coming back going up the hill. But can relax in the hot tub once you get back to the house. Plan to return.

This place was great!! Perfect location and perfect setup. Only issue we had, the owner did not clear off the snow from the front or back porch. So we had to run through the snow to get to the hot tub. Also we could not use the fire pit outside as the back deck had 4 inches of snow. We used the hot tub anyway but did not use the fire pit on the deck. Everything else was great!!

My friends and I had a great time here. The location is super convenient. Only a few min walk into town, although up a big hill. The house was spacious yet cozy. We loved the wood fire stove and hot tub. The kitchen was stocked with supplies. Loved that we could bring our small dog for a fee. Communication with Jay was fast. And he was flexible in letting us stay an extra night last minute too since no one was booked after us. Good times!

Perfect location with lots of space inside for folks to spread out and enjoy the space. We had a great time.

We couldn't asked for anything more...very clean, a well stocked kitchen, plenty of (good) towels, comfy beds, game room, hot tub, very short walk to town, great communication with the owner, and the list gones on and on! We were truly blessed to be able to spend Christmas together in this home playing games, skiing, relaxing, laughing, cooking, and eating! Thank you!

We loved our stay; the owner was in touch to be sure all was well. The house felt like a home, we loved the foosball and air hockey tables, and were in the hot tub every day. Well equipped kitchen. Just one block off Main Street, but quiet and private. Thank you, Jay and family!

During these crazy times we are living in, my family and I needed a retreat from the “real world.” We got exactly what we were looking for. The house was better than expected. The pictures do not do it justice. Jay, the home owner, was amazing to work with. The convenience of being able to walk to Main St. was a wonderful bonus. Don’t forget the hot tub, wood burning stove, updated kitchen and the flat screen TVS. I will definitely look to rent this house again. You won’t be disappointed!!!

Jays house was the perfect location. With just a few minute walk (up and down a big Hill) this was the perfect location for our group. We could easily walk to everything in town. The hot tub was great! We enjoy our stay for our bachelorette weekend.

House is beautiful, Easy walk to downtown Lake Placid, good set up for large groups, very clean.

We were ten people ages 28-33 that come up every year to Lake Placid to ski. The location of the house is perfect - cannot ask for any closer to the town. The house has plenty of room for everyone. All amenities worked. The hot tub is definitely the best amenity of the house. Game room was a plus. The Owner is easy to get in contact with. The only downside is waiting 4-6 weeks after you leave the house to get your deposit check back. In this day and age that should be returned immediately. All in all great place and would consider staying here again.

We brought our family of 8 back to LP for as part of their Christmas present. The location of the house was perfect. Our older children were able to make their way to the bus that takes you to Whiteface Mountain on their own to go skiing. There was plenty of room to spread out plus the hot tub and gaming tables were an added bonus. Our kids were too tired from skiing some nights to go out to dinner, so we cooked in most nights, which was great. Jay and the property manager were very receptive and were always quick to respond. Some past tenants have complained about the security deposit. We did not think anything of it and it was promptly returned in 30 days as written in the description. The only downside which may of been human error, was the first floor "bunk/gaming" area was really cold and the kids could not sleep down there. My family would be very happy to come back and stay at this house!!!

This house worked out great for us. We were a group of adults attending a pond hockey tournament in Lake Placid. The house accommodated us perfectly. It was clean and incredibly well equipped. Before leaving, we were all concerned about bringing all the little stuff. The owner told us not to worry and he was right. The house is a very short walk into the village. We never used our cars while we were there - a real bonus when you want to spend some late nights out. We were even able to just walk down to the lake with our hockey gear for the games. The living area is open and well furnished, so hanging at the house was also great. The hot tub was awesome. The owner had it up and running when we got there, so all we had to do was push back the cover and hop in. We made a big dinner one night and the house had everything we needed for this. Finally, the owner went out of his way to check in with me several times before hand to make sure we had the keys, directions, etc, and see if we had any questions. When I did reach out to him, I got a very quick response. Highly recommend this property.

We stayed here with my sister and her family AND my brother and his family and we could not have asked for a more perfect house. Essentially, each family got their own floor, and yet there was plenty of space in the living room, dining room and deck for us to be together without feeling like we were on top of each other. We ended up walking almost everywhere we needed to go--and we really felt at home. Extra thumbs up for hot tub.

My family and I stay in Lake Placid every year but it's usually outside of town. This year we wanted the convenience of being able to walk to everything and that's exactly what we got with this location! This house is tucked away in a peaceful wooded area however, within minutes we were able to walk to the main strip with lots of shopping and food, and the beach where we swam, kayaked and went on paddle boards. It was great not having to drive everywhere the kids wanted to go! The house was well kept and had a lot of space for all of us. I would highly recommend this property for your stay in Lake Placid!

Pros: This house is located in a great spot in Lake Placid and is walking distance from everything. Made it really convenient with a large group as we weren't dependent on cars the entire time (you do have to climb a large hill to get to the property, so if you have disabilities or are not in the best shape, this may not be the place for you). The house was also clean, with a decent common area for everyone to hang out in. We didn't do much cooking, but for what we did cook, the house was well equipped. The beds (at least mine was) was fairly comfortable as far as rentals go. Cons: Upon arrival we were greeted by the groundskeeper who immediately informed us that the hot tub did not work and that it had been broken for several days. This of course was frustrating to hear as the hot tub was one of the primary reasons we booked this place. After calling the owner, he seemed to offer up information that contradicted the groundskeeper saying it just broke. Bottom line - a heads up re: a broken hot tub would have been nice in advance so we could have planned alternate accommodations. Regardless, he said he'd try to fix it and was unable to. The lease clearly said that everything should be in working order, which it was not. I had requested a partial refund as a compromise, but the owner was not willing to hear it (he also kept changing his story about the situation and regularly contradicted the groundskeeper). I get it that things break, but at least adjust accordingly as a result. Based on the transaction with the owner, I would not recommend staying in this place. Of note: This listing indicates a 4th bedroom, which is a bit funky once you get there. It's actually a basement with bunk beds and futon. it's in the same space as the game room so if people are planning on using those beds it can be a bit of a logistical problem for some parties. The owner also keeps the security deposit a full 30 days (I actually received mine a few days later). He stated that the reason for this was to ensure we didn't purchase movies or make phone calls. Well, this is 2015 and last I checked, that information is available online within a few days. Absolutely no reason to hold such a large sum for so long. Lastly, the owner requires payment be made by check only sent via snail mail. If possible, make your payment electronically if you can to protect yourself in case there is a problem.
