We have been renting from Carolina Shores since 2012. We have always had a great experience, however this last visit we were very disappointed, we called ahead to see if the house was ready. They said not it was not confirmed clean, we would have to wait,so we waited then we get the keys ( no welcome bag was provided, which has been in previous years). The house was obviously NOT clean. Sand, dirt, dust, crumbs, dead bugs on all levels, pool was not clean. It took over an hour to clean the house before we noticed the pool, office was closed by then. However I email and got a response in the morning with the pool cleaner coming. The house being dirty was not addressed. Other than an apology.

Not a huge issue as we were the only family staying so we just slept in a room up stairs . The pool stayed dirty we skimmed it and emptied the skimmer basket all week but the debri all over the property kust kept coming in. I swept the pool deck but having to sweep that whole exterior is a job. Need to use a blower and done regularly with all the leaves. Years of broken down debri and leaves are at the pool fence base. The inside was also dusty and not well cleaned. It needs a top to bottom deep clean. Cobwebs to medicine cabinets. No one in the office during posted hours. Had to call reservations to get someone on the phone.

Our 2nd stay in the Outer Banks and we loved it. Last year we stayed in Corolla and honestly we were hoping to get the same house but it was already booked. We stumbled across this and it was a blessing in disguise. Great location and looked better in person than in pictures. Had everything we needed and was very comfortable.

Tim Duck Tu Review
Nice layout with plenty of room and a good sized pool. The game room was a nice touch along with the cornhole game. Unfortunately the outdoor shower was non-functional and was a big "miss" for us given all the activity coming from the beach and pool area. The house was a bit musty and one of the main floor bedrooms had a sour smell in the closet that spread throughout the room. The distance from the beach question was answered "about 880 feet" which we should have done the math and realized it was a half-mile which was a bit further than we had hoped for.

Great stay! We arrived late in the evening. The previous renters left a ton of sand in the pool and broke the bathroom towel racks. We reported the damage with no issues. They were all ready aware and had scheduled the pool cleaners for an extra round of cleaning before we were even awake the following day. House sits on a dead end street. We loved the seclusion with all the woodland around the property. It's only about a half mile walk to the beach side with a small parking area for those that would rather drive. Great vacation!!

Good location but needs some TLC!
Overpriced! When we arrived at the house, we had to wait because it was still being cleaned. The grass/weeds/trees around the house need to be cut and removed from the perimeter. The pool and hot tub had a ton of sand in them. The pool needed chlorine. The information from Southern Shores Realty said the pool is cleaned between guests and once during the week. I don't think that happened. There were multiple broken toilet paper holders and towel racks laying on the floor. There was trash strewn around the outside of the house. One of the previous renters must have been sick because the toilet brush/holder was disgusting. During the week, we found roaches both inside and outside of the house (I know, we were near the water). You couldn't leave outside lights on at night because of all the bugs. And if you let the kitchen table light on after dark, the bugs ended up inside. The best part of this house was it's location. It was close to the beach and town.

We enjoyed our stay the property was as advertised, The pool was very nice and secluded from the neighbors for privacy. Interior of the house is very clean exterior could use a little cleaning. House was furnished with all pots and pans needed, some of the TVs were a little dated but did not bother us

The house was not well cleaned. Tables and cupboards grimy, outside walks and pool deck dirty with leaves and sand, spider webs all over the outside, deck boards curling and need to be replaced. In need of upgrading overall

I've been renting Homes in OBX since mid 80's. This Rental had a very good location & layout met our needs. The downside were the many VERY large spider webs outside that were everywhere. We also had to kill these large black bugs in the house every night. We had to clean the leaves out of the pool.I don't see us renting this house again.

Great stay!
Perfect place...walking distance to beach and a pool and hot tub! Room at the table for all of us for meals.. room to spread out! We had grandkids from 20 to 4, worked well!
Only complaint..bikes were listed, and there weren't any, but no beach chairs were listed and there were 2 there!

Best place in the OBX
We loved staying here! The pool is amazing and the privacy of the house, surrounded by trees, is something not easy to find in the OBX!
The Weber charcoal grill is great, the kitchen had a blender, all the cutlery needed, and even some baking pans.
Would recommend a vacuum for the pool and a better cleaning company but this wasn't bad enough for us not to want to stay again.
Close to town, we loved the donuts, smoothies and lobster rolls! Wish we could come back this summer!!

We loved the house. Very clean on the inside and well taken care of. Outside could use a little TLC as far as weeds around/tree debris by the pool deck, but overall a clean rental. Lots of space and room to spread out. Some beds were a little too firm for our liking. Kitchen was stocked with all the cooking supplies you need and a nice big table for sit down meals. However, no pantry to store food in for the week. We used TV tray tables to stack our food on. Game table on the main floor was great for family game nights and jigsaw puzzles. Great location! Loved the pool and hot tub

We recently spent a week at Tim Duck Tu with our family, including 5 grandchildren. We all agree that the house was great. It is comfortable and large enough for individual privacy. The pool and hot tub were excellent, and the privacy around the pool was a plus. Close to the beach with private parking available makes this a perfect vacation rental.

The home was clean and maintained well. There were things to do which ever direction we went. Many nice restaurants in the area also. The drive on Saturday after check in took 1 1/2 hours to get to home, traffic is very congested at that time. If there was a lock box with key code at the home it would be a lot better. The sheets did not fit well on the queen beds-really had to tug to get them on. The hot tub was set at 105 degrees and we were not able to turn it down, so we could not use. The pool was nice-they came on Monday to sweep pool. They should of waited until Wednesday because the leaves from trees were falling in. Overall it was a very nice home to stay at with family, large enough to accommodate 6 adults and 2 children nicely. Will put on list to stay at if in the area again.

House itself was spacious and the street had it's own parking area and boardwalk which was an unexpected surprise. Our negatives have to do with the services provided for the home (cleaning, linen and pool) Upon arrival the linens left in the trunks were dirty and only 2 clean towels were provide. We killed 4 roaches (2 in kitchen)! The pool was not cleaned before we arrived and was actually green and full of algae. It appeared the house hadn't been cleaned from the previous stay as there were dirty towels hanging in one bathroom and sand in the bathtubs and Cobwebs were in the entry way door. Like I said, we enjoyed the house itself but the services hired to care for the home were seriously lacking.

The House was down a quiet little street which made the stay more amazing. Inside the house was amazing. The large kitchen and living room made us feel at home. The giant outdoor pool and hot tub were both an amazing addition as well. To top things off, we saw a deer and a baby fawn about 5 feet away from us over the fence which we thought was cool.

We have been going to Outer Banks for over 6 years, the houses have always been released way before 4:00pm and CLEAN. The house was not released until exactly 4:00 pm because per the property office, it was not ready. Guess what? When we got to the house, it was not clean. The cleaning crew came one hour and a half after we were in the house, with all our stuff unpacked telling us they are there to clean the house. I contacted the office and they told me sorry we were not aware. Really?? Not renting from them again. It's a shame cause I would recommend the property just not the property management.

When arriving at the property (after a 15hour drive), We walked into a debris covered entry & the lower level was covered in small pill bugs & centipedes.The lower level was also still very humid as if the air was not working. Being late as it was after a really long drive, I vacuumed the floor & called the next day. The cleaning crew just showed with no call, after letting them go (because I already took care of problem) I was informed of the fact there was animal poop on the third floor deck. I did call after wards to have it removed, and also to have the pool furniture removed of thousands of spider webs. They cleaned the poop except for 1 spot & smeared it all over the deck, & NEVER touched any of the webs. I called again on Wednesday(Tues Holiday) and asked once again to have these things taken care of, but they never were. We paid alot of money for things to be enjoyable for the week of our wedding and could not enjoy the pool furniture or lay out without fear of a creepy crawly calling it their home crawling on us. I believe there is lack of communication between the contracted teams & rentals, Which is a shame. Oh and when I did complain about this when turning in my keys, I just got a shrug an oh well we're sorry. In the future we probably will NOT use Carolina Shores again.
