The house is amazing. Great location. Well equipped kitchen. Plenty of room for 12 of us. Pool was wonderful.
We could have done without the hurricane Debby and tornado and high winds and dangerous surf!! But we made the best of it and still enjoyed our trip

We had an absolutely beautiful vacation at this home. It was well equipped and incredibly comfortable with plenty of room, spacious living space and a beautiful inground swimming pool. Also, it was a very short walk to the beach. The owner was great to work with and management company was very attentive. On one of the days, the air conditioner that cooled part of the house had stopped working. They had someone out to repair it in less than half an hour

This was our third time at this house and after this stay we will definitely not be returning. We had minor issues the first two years but this year was way worse. The house was not clean at all. There are multiple stains on the carpets, bedspreads and mold on the shower curtains. I know it is normal to have some insects around and in the house during this time of year but we had was unacceptable amount. There were spider webs all inside the house. Within the first two days we killed approximately 12 massive spiders. We found spiders coming out of the beams in the ceiling of the family room and multiple spider eggs around the ceiling. We killed multiple other bugs throughout the house during the week. The dryer never worked properly. We called the property manager and they came and said they fixed the issue but it still didn’t work for the remainder of the week. The property manager and owner of the home do not return emails regarding your concerns with the house. I would not recommend paying such a high cost for a weekly house rental with a house in this condition.

We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely home on Kiawah Island in the fall. It was the perfect “home away from home” for our 3 families to share while we were there to attend a wedding. So many activities to enjoy during our weekend together … golf, pickleball, walks on the beach and exploratory bike rides. Only wish we could have stayed longer!

We have a lovely stay with 3 families including young children. The home was in excellent condition and well appointed with everything needed for a beach stay. Location was also a big plus. Had some trouble with the pool heater but the property manager was timely and helpful in resolving the issue. Would book again!

We loved the property and the ease of getting to the beach. There were 10 of us and we never felt crowded or that we didn’t have our own space. The porch was a lovely morning spot for coffee and evening space to listen to the sound of the ocean and frogs. Several deer came by every day. It was just peaceful. Our kids enjoyed their bunk room, pool and ice machine!

We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this beautiful house! Proximity to beach and anything else you’d like to do on Kiawah is perfect. The layout was great for our multi-generational family group – large, well furnished living spaces, an amazing kitchen, and quiet bedrooms which allowed everyone to sleep in if desired. Particularly appreciated the well-stocked kitchen given our cooking-centric family – it even came with a fully stocked spice cabinet and a pot large enough for our low country boil. The pool area was great and the screen porch perfect for watching TV, dining, or taking a nap. Can’t say enough good things about this house and dealing with owners was a pleasure. Highly recommended!

It had been three years since our last family vacation. But the good news is our grandchildren are old enough now to really enjoy the beautiful swimming pool. It was unseasonably chilly so we requested to have the pool heated. They swam every morning, afternoon and evening!
The house was the perfect size for our family and very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped thankfully because we cooked all meals except one during the week.
The location is amazing…5 minute walk and you are on the beach!
We will visit again but hoping it won’t be three more years!

The house was very clean and mostly well-appointed. Our biggest disappointment was the pool/spa. We found it to be a mess and not working - the property manager had a total of 4 visits arranged and it was never properly functioning until 7pm on Saturday evening - we left Sunday morning. It stated there were 6 beach chairs - they are in very poor, rusty condition - would recommend visitors to rent them.

Great location, house was very well appointed (kitchen, linens, beach gear, etc). Only issue was the master shower had no hot water (valve on temperature adjustment mechanism). This can certainly happen, and maintenance took care of it on try #2, but the owner knew of this problem and it’s history. Replace the hardware so others don’t have to hassle with this issue.

We loved staying in this home in August 2021 for our family vacation to Kiawah. The house was clean with lots of space for the family to spread out in. Has a great pool and outdoor lounging and eating areas, an awesome walk-in master closet for those of us who don’t travel light :), and an exceptionally well equipped kitchen which we really appreciated. It is a few minutes walk to the beach, and super close to bike trail access. A neighbor was building a new home next door while we stayed there but we only heard moderate builder noise one morning. Overall it was very quiet and peaceful!

While the location was fantastic and the home clearly has potential, it fell well short of our expectations.
1. Propane Out and Smelly: On the last day of our stay, the propane tank apparently ran out of propane rendering the hot water heater, dishwasher and stove useless. This impacted our ability to take warm showers, use the stove for cooking, etc. Additionally, as we learned, when a propane tank runs low, the oil at the bottom of the tank gives out a distinctive unpleasant odor. The odor filled the house on our last full-day and the day we left. We became aware of the issue when an alarm went off on the hot water heater at 10pm. Maintenance dispatched Roto-Rooter to the house around 11:00 pm. Roto-Rooter said the alarm was due to no propane, turned off the gas line to the heater & left.
2. Access to Screened Porch unavailable due to broken handle. Doors to outside left open by maintenance workers.
3. Toilet in Master Bath Not Properly Working - 24 hrs to fix it.
4. Pool area was filty - we cleaned it.
Accès to beach was great but beware of property condition.

Besides the issues below the construction noise surrounding the house is unbearable. We had to leave the property. There is construction on 3 houses surrounding this house. The owner should have told me prior to check in.

Family Anniversary Celebration
The house was perfect for our family of 10…6 adults and 4 children. Each adult and spouse had their own bedroom with en-suite and the children shared the bunk room. The house is fully equipped. The outside pool deck with grills, pool and spa provided many hours of entertainment. The elevator is perfect for sending all luggage up from the parking level. There is adequate beach equipment for the kids. There is a bit of noise from construction behind the house but the waterfall and spa noise from the pool minimized it. We loved our stay on Kiawah in this beautiful home!

Vanderhorst Plantation had everything our family needed! Nice comfortable layout in the house with plenty of room for everyone. The kitchen was very well equipped. When not at the very accessible beach, we were hanging out in the spacious screened porch and beautiful pool area.

Wonderful place to stay on Johns Island
Pleased to say the house was as nice when we arrived as the photos suggested. Plenty of room for everyone and the floor plan provided plenty of privacy when needed. The pool was indispensable for the kids and the walk to the beach was quick and easy. First time we tried renting a home for a family get together and we’re very happy we did.

Great home… we really enjoyed the screened porch and swing. The pool was perfect for our younger guest who was 4. She went from the pool to the spa and then back to the pool. Rebecca at the management company was great. The home was very clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Was a fairly quiet weekend on the island, but we thoroughly enjoyed the facilities. We spent half of our days at the ocean and half in the heated pool. Was so nice to have sufficient room for two families of 5.

The house is amazing, fully equipped kitchen, beach chairs, bedrooms are huge and very comfortable for multiple families. We plan to be back!

We have been vacationing in Kiawah for many years now and this home was the best to date with regard to location and the home itself. All in the family agreed! The floor plan was great. We had an issue with the air conditioning which was promptly fixed. Would certainly return.

It was a spacious and lovely yet comfortable. Proximity to the beach was amazing-loved the pool and the screened in porch was clutch. With 6 adults and three youngsters, everyone had their space. Kitchen was well equipped for family meal preparation and dining. Will want to return!

The cleanliness of this home was absolutely unacceptable.
The kitchen had spills, appliance handles with spills/ smudges, drawers with crumbs, kitchen faucet covered in mildew and water/ ice covered dispenser covered in mildew as well as the filter needing to be replaced.
The washing machine contained black mildew and had a horrible odor and we were unable to do laundry. The couches, rugs and carpet were horribly stained. Dog hair was all over the floor, couches, blankets, etc. so as a not dog friendly house this was extremely disappointing.
The garage ice maker and pool controls both weren’t working and we never made aware these were broken. We couldn’t heat the hot tub or turn on pool functions.
There was a extreme amount of bugs and ants in and around the property even after we personally sprayed, as well as bugs in light fixtures. While we are aware of the climate in Kiawah, this is not an excuse for the lack of an exterminator coming out.
There was no trundle bed in the bunk room as advertised.
And on top of it all, the construction on a new home build across the street (hammering and music noise) made it unbearable to be outside during the day, not to mention work starting at 7 AM.
The property manager was giving excuse after excuse for these issues and sent a crew out to clean a couple things. She and the homeowner will not respond to any email trying to make the situation right.
Needless to say we will not be visiting this property ever again. Vacation nightmare.

Wonderful trip
This house is probably one of the cleanest rentals we’ve ever stayed in. It is so well equipped (especially for families) and the layout is perfect for kids. We had one issue with the pool but the owner was very attentive to rectifying the problem which we really appreciated. I rarely travel to the same place twice but we loved this house and location so much that we would love to come back!

Favorite Kiawah Location!
The property itself is beautiful and well-laid out. The bedrooms are roomy, particularly the two primary bedrooms at the far end of the house. And the pool/patio setup and screened in porch were perfect for our families. The beach is a quick walk away - but when the weather is chilly (like our stay), heating the pool was a great choice. Some of the tech in the house was a little difficult to use, but the management company was very responsive and extremely helpful. Loved our stay and this neighborhood was our favorite after many previous trips to the island in other areas!
