Upon arrival, you can’t stop staring at the magnificent view of Chania from your patio. We were staring at the pool and the view, and we were so amazed that we were staying here for the next 7 nights! Spacious rooms with beautiful touches, comfortable bed, fluffy towels, and the best part was Mary Ellen and her advice for he area, and yummy treats we received from her family and the garden. Such a treat! Instead of driving into Chania for nightly dinner, Mary Ellen arranged a driver for us so we would not have to deal with the crazy parking situation. We also drove to a nearby barbecue restaurant for dinner a couple of times since the food was spectacular. With our Rent-A-Car we visited Falassarna gorgeous beach, Aptera ruins, Astrikas Estate Biolea-Olive oil estate with gorgeous views & food, Agia Triada Monastery & hiked down Avlaki Gorge. We loved the food, energy, sights in Chania. We had a spectacular stay!

This villa was incredible. It had everything we needed and more. The view from the back of the villa and garden was to die for. We spent every night watching the sun go down before heading into Chania. Marryellen the host was lovely and so very helpful with anything we needed. She even organised a personal driver for us who was reasonably prised and very reliable. We will definitely be back , so much to do and see in Chania.

I cannot say enough positive things about this place. Crete is so incredibly charming and this home with its spectacular views and open layout was even better than we expected based on the pictures and reviews. It’s huge, so spacious compared to so many European accommodations. It is also so well appointed, Maryellen has literally thought of everything. And on top of that she is a gracious hostess, she made recommendations for meals and activities for us on both our days in Crete. We only wished we had planned to stay longer. We can’t wait to go back one day!

This lodging was just perfect and Mary Ellen was the best host ever! We arrived around midnight after a lengthy delay on the ferry from Santorini to find a bottle of red wine, home baked pastries and excellent check-in instructions. Mary Ellen stopped by the next morning to greet us with fresh baked pastries from her favorite bakery and lots of helpful information about Crete. We can’t say enough about our stay there and highly recommend this lodging!

Stepping out of the car to get our first glimpse of the property was like looking at the listing pictures but better! This villa is absolutely beautiful! It is perfectly situated on the property to take advantage of the natural terraced landscape and incredible views of the water below. The inside of the house is spotless and meticulously maintained and immediately puts you at ease knowing you will be comfortable during your stay. We were two couples traveling together and the accommodations were spacious enough for us to enjoy time together and have our separate spaces as well. Your host, Maryellen, is wonderful, welcoming and was immediately responsive to any of our questions about recommendations for our stay. There is so much to do on Crete, and the guest binder provided by the host was full of helpful information. Every restaurant she recommended was fantastic. Even though you may spend most of your time exploring the island like we did, don't miss the chance to book an outdoor massage at the house. It was a great experience early in our stay after all of the walking and climing around Athens. Thank you very much Maryellen for making our trip an incredible experience. We can't wait to come back!

Unbeatable view of Chania. The host is very gracious and provided great information and assistance about surrounding areas for exploration, dining, tours, etc. The home was extremely comfortable, well decorated and very well stocked. Gardens, flowers, fruit trees and lovely pool made this a remarkable stay. I highly recommend this property!

Our stay at Kyanon House was perfect. Our host Maryellen greeted us upon our arrival with delicious pastries from her mother and assisted us with recommendations from sites to restaurants to specialty shops. She was available at a moments notice to answer any questions. The villa is beautifully appointed and the views spectacular. I highly recommend this lovely spot. Thank you Maryellen and George!

Those who have seen the old movie "The Wizard of Oz," surely remember the scene when the tornado plops Dorothy's black and white farm house on the ground and Dorothy opens the door. As she does so, she is greeted by the Technicolor land of Oz.
That is kind of the way I felt when Maryellen, our host at Kyanon House, greeted us at the top of the garden staircase down to the apartment. The view of the blue Aegean Sea, the city of Chania, the infinity pool and the lush garden seemed Oz-like.
Inside we found a well designed space that took total advantage of the view. It was beautifully and comfortably decorated. And Maryellen explained all to us and provided us with lists and descriptions of everything to do from hiking, to swimming, to tours and restaurants. Maryellen was quickly responsive whenever we had questions, needed help or wanted reservations.
This was simply one of the best, if not the best, VRBOs we have stayed in.
Maryellen even provided us with fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs and local beverages!

Two sisters and our husbands in Crete for 4 days. We loved this apartment. It is beautiful inside and out. The grounds and views are amazingly beautiful. The inside perflectly appointed. Clean and beautiful and great space for us and our rental car. I can't say enough about our host Mary Ellen. She helped us plan our stay and even made restaurant reservations and transport arrangements for us. I can't wait to return. This place is truly special. It exceeded my expectations. The pictures on the website are beautiful but it is even more beautiful and elegant in person.

We loved every minute of our stay at Kyanon Apartment. Maryellen is an excellent host and the apartment and surrounding gardens and pool area are even more beautiful than in the photos. The apartment is on the ground floor but there is no noise whatsoever from the floors above, excellent soundproof construction! The views from the pool area and big windows in the main bedroom and living room are spectacular.
Maryellen provides so many lovely touches; fresh flowers from the beautiful garden, lovely bathrobes and toiletries, a kitchen and utility room stocked with everything you need from dishwasher tablets to insect repellant to olive oil etc, and a full list of recommended outings, beaches and restaurants. We enjoyed the apartment and pool so much that we didn't get to see as much of Crete as we planned! The old town of Chania is about 10 minutes away by car and is perfect to wander around at night. We booked a taxi by phone to take us there most evenings, sometimes there was a wait but it wasn't a problem.
We are already planning our next visit as we only scratched the surface of this fabulous island, and I doubt there is a nicer place to stay than here.

Our seven night stay was a delight. The grounds were spectacular, ideal for reading or soaking in the pool. The house has large windows in all rooms, all with great views of Chania ... and was bright and clean. Maryellen made our arrival special; in the house were fresh fruit, freshly baked pound cake, and fresh flowers. And Maryellen made it clear that she was ready to answer all our questions and provide recommendations.

Incredible view
We really loved our stay. The highlight was the pool and outside space ( plenty of room for children to run around). Inside the kitchen, living space and bathrooms were high end and well appointed. Felt like a luxury hotel. The pictures don’t do the view justice; sitting in the terrace and watching the sunset was a highlight of the trip.

Our family spent 11 days at this amazing property.
First of all, MaryEllen is a superb host, from the moment I booked, to the day we left we felt that nothing was too much trouble for her. Any questions we had were answered almost immediately, her advice on anything was outstanding and she checked in regularly with us to ensure everything was going well.
The apartment I can't describe its that amazing. Beautifully furnished, Fully stocked kitchen, huge comfy beds, soft linens, plenty of towels and if there was something that we'd forgotten and thought, I wonder if there's one here? There always was! MaryEllen bought us some goods to get us started, lots of fresh fruit and vegetables from the amazing gardens, her favourite wine and the kitchen was stocked with basic staples.
The views are to die for, we lazed by the pool for several days just swimming and then watching the sun go down over Chania harbour. Unforgettable.
Nice quiet location, safe and secure with keyfob access. Chania is 10 minutes away in a Taxi, local amenities and supermarkets within a 5 minute drive.

Amazing vacations
It was most betifull place we ever enjoy in our vacations. Clean Spacious ground floor with magical garden. Jaw dropping views on entire Chania old port and mountains. Maryellen was real pleasure to deal with. Very helpfull with good advice. Marathi beach, she recommended, has perfect sandy beach with easy access and great restaurant with swift service and very tasty dishes. We will definitely come back!!!! Strongly recommend this property for family and honeymooners. You will be definitely 100% satified

Exceeded our Expectations in Every Way!
My husband and I just spent 2 weeks at this gorgeous property. Every single aspect of this rental exceeded our exceptions.
First, MaryEllen is an extremely responsive, helpful, and a great host! From our very first contact over a year before our stay and up to our sunset goodbye cocktail with her the night before we left. She offered us a lot of good advice in advance and answered my questions during our trip quickly (helping us to make the most of each excursion). We feel like we made a new friend!
It was obvious from the very moment we entered the property, that a lot of thought went into making this property welcoming & comfortable for guests. It is even more lovely than the pictures. The styling of the furnishings is upscale and yet so comfortable you feel right at home (nothing is “tired” or old…. everything is in great condition).
The kitchen is well outfitted to make cooking easy if you choose to stay in. There were many staples such as spices, olive oil, salt/pepper, crackers, butter, some coffee pods, sugar, etc. - - so nice not to have to buy those basics. We took advantage of the outside grill and their fresh herb garden several nights. MaryEllen, had stocked the fridge with a few necessities to make our arrival / first day seamless, without having to run straight to the grocery store.
The bathrooms are very clean, spacious, modern, with many towels, shampoo, soap, and plenty of toilet paper.
We took advantage of the washer / dryer so we didn’t have to pack as much nor bring home dirty clothes. We watched some Netflix a few evenings - - so nice to have an account set up for our use. I can’t even remember all the thoughtful things included in the apartment, but I think you get the idea.
Now, as for THAT VIEW! WOW! The outside sitting areas (yes there are several) are all comfortable and well placed. That magnificent infinity pool looking out to the sea and Chania is just breathtaking (and we even have our own pool at home). Every morning and and every evening we just soaked in that amazing, peaceful glorious view.
As mentioned in the listing, this is also a family home. MaryEllen lives nearby and her parents live on the two floors above the apartment - - yet you have complete privacy! We met both of them and thoroughly enjoyed talking with them, so therefore we often stopped to chat, but if you’re more private, there is no obligation.
You will not be disappointed with a stay here!

We have been staying at HomeAway properties for the past 10 years and this one is by far superior to all of them. This felt more like staying at a 5* hotel, with high quality linens and towels, beautiful furnishings, and a great concierge service. The place was spotless and cleaning services were regular and completely non-intrusive.
Maryellen contacted us a couple of weeks before our trip asking what foods we'd like to get us started. We found all our favorite foods and more, all of the best quality. She even replenished some of the items when we couldn't find them to purchase, and left "gifts' of delicacies at our doorstep throughout our stay.
The weather was unseasonably chilly but nice heating systems in the house kept us comfortable and cosy. TV and Netflix worked perfectly, great to have on those cooler nights when we didn't want to go out. The kitchen is as well furnished as the rest of the house, with beautiful dishes, matching glasses, olive oil and all the basic spices. All in all, a home away from home, with the feel of a luxurious vacation.
I recommend this property to any discerning traveller and tell you to look no more! This is it!

Kyanon House is an amazing property; spacious, exceptionally clean and well presented and equipped with everything you could need. The property is well located with easy access to beautiful beaches, the mountains, Chania town, places to eat and supermarkets. A great stay in Chania in a beautiful house
We stayed in Kyanon house only for 5 nights (unfortunately) but wish we could stay longer.
The house was surrounded by trees and located in an amazing spot overlooking the town of Chania, which was only 5 min drive. It also had one of the most beautiful sunsets we had seen.
A few of the things worth noting was the beautiful pool, the nicely decorated interior with attention to detail, all the amenities that were available for us to use and very importantly the cleanliness inside and outside the house.
Last but not least, Mariellen and her family were great hosts!!! They offered us advice about things to do and where to go and always made sure that we are satisfied with our stay. We also enjoyed all the small Cretan treats they brought us.
