The location was stunning. Cabin is very functional and efficient. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Had a great stay. Hot tub was great little bit of debris but not bad. Cabin was good size. The walk out porch was big and nice to have off the master bedroom. We’ll equipped kitchen. Dock was a bit on the small size but worked for fishing. All in all a great place will definitely rent again.

Overall the cottage and location are very nice. We loved having a swimmable waterfront and hot tub. The size of the cottage was also sufficient for our group (4 adults). Our only complaint is the cleanliness, specifically in the kitchen.

I would highly recommend this cottage. Perfectly situated on a quiet and calm lake, the property has everything you could need for a break from the city. The cottage itself is a good size, with plenty of indoor and outdoor space. The kitchen is small, but well equipped. The bedrooms were comfortable and spacious. The upper deck outside is perfect for relaxing or meal times, while the lower lawn has a wonderful fire pit and direct access to a clean calm lake. The hot tub was a nice bonus! The host was very quick to respond to questions, and the check in process was smooth. I’ll be hoping to book here again next summer!

I can't say enough how clean and adorable this cottage was! It was a great stay. Lake was quiet. My only complaint is it's very close to us neighbours who, had visitors and there was 6 large dogs running around the property we stayed at, I had to block the entrance of the deck off so they werent coming on the deck. they were pooping everywhere too lol owners weren't even visible for the most part. I'm a dog person so I didn't mind all that much but I could see it being bothersome to others. So I just didn't like how close the properties are. Hot tub could have been a bit more clean. Other than that it was a perfect stay.

We enjoyed our weekend stay. It's a small cottage, but has a large waterfront property with lots of grass area for kids to play. The deck overlooking the yard and water was also great for morning breakfasts and to relax in the shade later in day. Only feedback to prospective guests is that there really is nothing included at the property - you need to bring everything from linens, blankets, pillows to toilet paper and condiments. As well, the hot tub was really not maintained so it was quite dirty for our stay, which was disappointing as that was a selling feature for us and we would have enjoyed using it.

Great location

My wife and I decided to get away for a couple days and couldn't have been happier with our chosen location. Vanessa and Troy's place is cozy and welcoming. We relaxed in the outside hot tub even though it was freezing outside. Secluded and quiet it was everything a couple of city folk needed to unwind. Looking forward to a summer stay!

My wife and I decided on we needed a last minute getaway with our five month old daughter on Thursday night so booked Troy and Vanessa’s cottage for the weekend. They responded right away and made sure everything was ready for our arrival the next day. The cottage was clean and warm when we arrived and had everything we needed from a well-stocked kitchen and bathroom to shelves loaded with books, movies and games. We enjoyed our snowy views of the quiet little lake from the living room and even from the deck (which would be an amazing spot in the summertime!). The first night we stargazed from the spacious hot tub and the second night enjoyed snow drifting down while we kept warm in there. Lots of trails to hike at the door step too. This was a great spot for winter access as the lake road is plowed and sanded by the township and is close to the regional highway. We will definitely be back!

My husband and I spent Thanksgiving weekend here. We booked the cabin to enjoy hiking in the fall foliage and were excited to discover that it is in right in the Geocaching Capital of Canada!! We loved canoeing on the calm lake and sitting around the fire after a day of hiking. The hot tub was a welcome treat to our sore muscles in the evening. We would love to return in the summer with the whole family. The kids would love the lake and all the geocaching opportunities.

Charming cottage at beautiful Cardiff Lake. Ideal for swimming or kayaking. During most of our one week stay we had the lake largely for ourselves. The cottage was comfortable, except when at 90 plus degrees the lack of air conditioning was a bit of a problem, but this should not be taken as a criticism since we did not expect air conditioning. It was unfortunate that we experiences an unusual heat wave. Our issue with this rental was not the property but the lack of attention and responsiveness by the owners. To be sure we would get into the cottage on arrival we sent a message eight days prior requesting information on the lock box. There was no answer and on arrival we found ourselves in front of the cottage unable to get in. We did get the lock box number after messaging the owners again. One of the owners, presumably the wife, later apologized in a message saying that the information should have been provided ahead of time. She also stated that the housekeeper would drop in to make sure that we had everything we needed. The housekeeper never showed and the owner sent a message that his wife “misspoke” and that the cleaning lady had been in the cottage prior to our arrival. What the cleaning lady had apparently overlooked was that the shock tablets for the hot tub were not there, (therefore the hot tub could not be used) the battery of the fire alarm was dead and the thermostat did not work. There was food in the refrigerator which we left. When we sent a message to the owners regarding the missing shock tablets his answer was: “I see. I will let her know. Sorry about that”. This was on the second day of our stay and we never heard from the owners again. All in all we enjoyed our stay and with a little help from the owners it could have been even better.

Beautiful views, lovely spotless cottage. we enjoyed having our morning coffee on the deck over looking the lake, even in the winter. Its great. We will recommend booking this cottage to our friends.

Girls weekend and cottage was just right. Beautiful area with walking / hiking trails. Hot tub was a great bonus with a big deck to enjoy sunshine. The only problem was single bed downstairs was not comfortable and would not consider it a real bed for sleeping. We overly enjoyed our stay such a quiet time of year to go.

Three of my girlfriends and I came up for a weekend away. The cottage had everything we needed. The hot tub was a wonderful added bonus. The lake is so nice and clean. We spent the whole day in the water. (Sandy/rocky bottom) The pictures don't do this cottage justice! We will definitely be making this an annual event! Thank you for a wonderful weekend!

I stayed here with my family for the Labour day weekend. We had a blast! This cottage has everything needed to enjoy your time. BBQ, canoe, floating raft, chairs for the fire, hot tub, beautiful deck with scenery and spacious cottage! A hidden gem and I would recommend anyone taking advantage of this experience! The owner is very responsive to questions and wonderful to deal with!

Falsely advertised as private in the description header. Owner has zero interest other than to collect payment. We drove 4 hours only to leave 5 min later and drive back home to more privacy and quiet with three dogs and a 12 and 14 year old son and daughter who did NOT want to stay. Have used VRBO for Europe and Collingwood. To date owner has NOT responded to 2 emails regarding false advertising.

Conveniently located near Wilberforce for wine, groceries and firewood. Comfortable and modernized although very small. The main reason we rented this cottage was the hot tub and it wasn't working! We were there for 4 days but the Service person came as we were packing up and he had it fixed in 30 minutes! Also very concerned that there were no smoke alarms in the cottage - this needs to be corrected immediately.

This Cottage is greatly located with amazing views and easy access to the cute small town of Wilberforce that has a Diner, town store ( has Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream :P), Foodland & LCBO. Very friendly locals! The Cottage itself is very comfortable making it feel like home. Everything we expected and more!! Great Hosts Vanessa & Troy. We have stayed in this cottage on January, we had great time ever!!! Very nice, cozy place, newly renovated and has all the facilities to enjoy your vacation. Beautiful nature, the cottage is situated on the lake, that really enjoyable. Hot tub is the great addition to the place! Very friendly and cooperative owners, anytime we needed anything, we got reply right away. We are definitely considering to come back there with our friends! Thank you for the great stay!

This property is AMAZING!!!!! For our family of 3 humans and 3 dogs it was absolutely perfect. The cottage is easy to access in the winter just a short 450m from the main road and the cottage road is maintained for ease of access in snowy conditions. Pictures contained here do not do the absolute beauty of the cottage justice. A few stairs up to the front door with a fully enclosed large wrap around deck and the limousine of all hot tubs!!! Open concept kitchen and dining/living room area with large sliding glass doors to the deck. If you wake up early you can have your coffee and look out to the frozen lake from the comfort of the couch. The master bedroom also has large sliding glass doors which open to the deck and the hot tub is right there! The bathroom is across from the master bedroom and has brand new large shower. In the lower level there is a "children's" bed (small single) and another full double bedroom with a large window looking out to the dock. The beds in the master bedroom and the double bed downstairs are plush and very comfy ;). Best sleep ever! Every amenity has been thought of by the pleasant and very responsive owners. Vanessa was able to answer all of our questions about anything in a very timely manner. There is a trail if your follow the cottage road that leads up around Cardiff Lake into the small village of Harcourt. We look forward to being able to return to Walaila Cottage again! It's a perfect spot for a winter retreat!
