Eco Cabin in remote Caribbean Woodlands

The location requires a car, 4x4 ideally, but once you find it it’s a wonderful peaceful place with all the amenities you need. There was even a bottle of wine and some food to see us through the first night. The cabin is ideal for people that want out of the hustle and bustle and want to relax in nature, with the dogs, chickens and birds making a regular appearance. Highly recommend a visit!

We had a wonderful stay. The cabin is as charming as the photos and has even more special touches than we knew about. Old-fashioned kitchen implements, lovely food in the refrigerator, charcoal crayons and paper, chickens, birds, and two endearing canine ambassadors who adopted us. We especially loved the open-air kitchen, dining area, and shower surrounded by lush trees and a mini-rain forest. Martin, who took care of us, could not have been more gracious, helpful and enlightening about the island. We had a storm one day that kept us at home, and it was the best day of the vacation.
Only one piece of advice - consider renting a car with four-wheel drive, maybe a SUV that's higher off the road because the roads are rocky.

What a fantastic place to stay, if you are wanting to get away from it all then Tranquil Farm lives up to its name. We spent a week in this lovely cabin surrounded by the sounds of the woodlands. The accommodation is really comfortable and beautifully furnished and has a really homely feel to it, the owners have really made an effort and we loved it.

The location is great for a restful holiday!! The cottage is cute and very well done. We had everything we needed.
The host were great and the welcome food was spot on and needed!
The dogs are super friendly maybe too friendly, if you don’t love that sort of thing.
We would do it again.

Words may just not be enough to convey our extraordinary experience at this beautifully and sustainably designed cabin nestled in the lush green hills of the island. Louise has built a wonderful homestead that truly escapes time and brings you to a place that feels like the setting of a great adventure novel with all supporting characters present, including a couple of friendly and playful dogs, chickens supplying your first mornings eggs, roosters waking you to enjoy breakfast with the birds and morning light on the porch, and the duck that occasionally laughs (at you?) in the distance.
Louise also knows how to make her guests feel right at home, is available if needed, though leaves you to enjoy the surroundings completely at your own leisure. We were even welcomed with quality provisions in the fridge upon arrival. Such a well thought place must be accompanied by a thoughtful host after all!
The location is a great launching point to explore the island, particularly the more remote and breathtaking southwest, the closest beach being a short drive through the rainforest down Fig Tree Drive at Carlisle Bay with water so clear that spear fishers are out on a calm day. On top of that, a beach outing is made that much more comfortable with amenities available as though you're at home.
I could write a book about Louise's place, but I'm running up on the word limit and because you can actually go and experience it yourself, I highly recommend just that!

Louise's place is absolutely AMAZING! My partner and I had the best time. We did absolutely nothing but enjoyed the scenery, the sounds of the ducks, chickens and birds. Sleeping with the windows opened and we especially loved the view of the sunrise from the bed.
It didn't hurt having a few friendly visit from Chloe🐶 and Bash 🐶either.
After a busy year, this was exactly what we needed "TO RELAX".
Thank you Louise! We will be back!

This Eco Cabin is completely off the grid, from both a power source and location. Electricity and hot water are solar powered. The kitchen is equipped with refrigerator and new gas stove/oven. Coffee is brewed with a Bialetti espresso pot so if you want to bring your own you could travel with a small electric maker (US plugs) and use outlets in the large bedroom on a desk or out on the covered porch where the lamp is plugged in. The bedroom is nicely appointed with a comfortable bed with mosquito netting, screens on windows, desk, chairs and ample storage space. There is a large selection of books and oil pastels to get creative with. The outdoor shower is large and really nice and has an adjoining toilet room with sink. The covered porch has a dining table and several chairs to read and relax. The large Lasko floor fan can be moved around for your comfort. There is an effective mosquito capture drum and I don't think I got any bites during my three night stay. You just need to cover up before dusk and early morning. The cabin is in the woods and there is nobody around other than the owner, ducks, chickens and roosters, and the owner's two dog friendly security patrol. It is about 10-15 minutes off Fig Tree Drive and probably 30 mins to Jolly Harbor and 30 mins to Falmouth Harbor Antigua Yacht Club area. Even though I had a very small Kia rental, I was able to get in and out, even after heavy rains. If you want to checkout and check-in to nature this is the place for you.

I absolutely loved my stay! Peaceful, clean and tidy and all that you need to relax and unwind. Just a Short trip to gorgeous beaches but I looked forward to coming back to the cottage at the end of the day. I am missing it and hope to return soon!

To start, Louise is a lovely host and makes you feel so welcome. The Eco Cabin is just what we expected, one with nature. You soon adjust to all of the forest noises that lull you to sleep. It’s so relaxing sitting on the terrace listening to the birds during the day and the crickets and frogs at night. Nature is all around you and you’re reminded of this constantly in the most amazing ways. This is a must to experience and we ll definitely be going back again. Thank you Louise.

Everything, but the bedroom is outdoors which is exactly what I expected. If you are looking for a location in the heart of a town you will be disappointed. But if you love birds on the handrail while you sit on the porch having coffee, mongoose running thru the trees 20 ft. away, and nature I can not think of any better location. Louise is a great host. And my wife, who is a accomplished baker states that het homemade bread is the best that she has ever eaten!

If your childhood had memories of a summer cabin with the sound of frogs, crickets, creaking trees and a cool breeze singing you to sleep at night you’ll love this cabin. It’s a bit rustic but with lots of comforts and a big front porch with comfy chairs for taking it all in. Our favorite stay of 5 during our extended visit. But you must love animals - friendly dogs and chickens. Louise makes you feel right at home from a welcoming meal to thick bathrobes. The outside shower is a treat. Put Sawcolts Methodist Church in your GPS to make it easy to find. It’s just a minute or two from there. Book it!

I stayed with my daughter in this remote eco lodge , and it was perfect! Louise had food for us for us in the fridge for our first meal and breakfast, wonderful touch!
The place is very private. Extremely well appointed, great wifi also.
We had a great stay, taking a shower looking at the night sky feels very special! Thank you Louise!

Far From the Madding Crowd
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay here even though we did not get the best of the weather. The occasional visit from Louise’s dogs or ducks was fun, and I didn’t mind sharing my toast with the local bullfinches

Back to Nature
My husband and I loved staying at Tranquil Farm. Ms. Louise was very nice, and the atmosphere of the cabin was amazing! We like to birdwatch, and we didn't even have to leave the porch to see some of the best species!

Excellent
After the last few years this property was exactly what our spirits needed. A beautifully located property away from it all but only 20 minutes from everything. The dogs would ch to in daily and added to the joy this place creates. Louise is so wonderful. Hope to be able to visit again. A must stay when wanting a non resort vacation to Antigua.

Tranquil Days...
The cottage and surrounding property were precisely as described. Upon arrival I found that Louise had delivered a freshly baked loaf of her delicious homemade bread, fresh eggs from her chickens, her homemade pasta sauce and guava jam, and had supplied the refrigerator with butter, cereal, milk and a bottle of wine. Louise was a gracious and attentive hostess throughout my week-long stay and Martin was always ready to help. My stay was "Tranquil" with the exception of manmade noises of high revving engines and barking dogs., unfortunately often into the late hours of the night. The pleasing sounds of tree frogs, birds and insects, which I had looked forward to, were often drowned out by the manmade sounds. I enjoyed the company of Louise's dogs (I would have brought Sam home with me if I could). Most mornings I was up early to drive to English Harbour to meet friends for diving or hiking, about a 25 minute drive. I may stay here again, but will remember to bring some ear plugs.

The Perfect Get Away
The property was exactly as shown in the pictures. There was absolutely no disappointment on arrival and there was a bonus of a small gaggle of ducks that came to visit and wandered around the property.
Lousie answered all my questions prior to arrival. I was there for 4 days to get away while doing an online seminar. The internet worked beautifully. Louise was the right amount of there when you needed her but not intrusive. And the cottage was a lovely, comfortable retreat.
I will definitely do it again and would recommend it to anyone wanting to get off the grid for a short stay, as I did, or an extended retreat.

Splendid Isolation
Had an absolutely wonderful stay at Tranquil Farm with Louise. She is a superb and gracious hostess and the property was even more perfect than I had imagined. You'll want a 4x4 (as you will anywhere in Antigua), otherwise, it's a totally self-contained paradise. Can't wait to come back. Thank you, Louise!

Perfect Getaway
We don't usually write reviews of places we've stayed. Think it is because of the let down at the end of a vacation, but mostly I think it is because I won't take the time. Tranquil Farm is the exception. My wife and I spent 2 weeks at Louise's cottage, such a wonderful home away from home. Everything you need for your daily outings, including: a beach bag, cooler, and some super comfy flashy beach chairs. Exceptional Island advice is also available from your hostess if requested. Gonna miss our daily run/walks with Ruby and Scabbers, such wonderful canine companions. Thank you Louise, our most gracious hostess, for such a fun, adventure filled, truly memorable vacation on your beautiful island.
P.S. One day we hope to return to stay in your most exotic scenic new cottage on the hill.

Fabulous time!
This cottage is exactly as pictured. Perfect for those wanting a getaway from the hustle and bustle of a resort. It is clean and has all one needs for an indoor/outdoor camping-like adventure. We loved it. And the beaches were not too far away. Louise, the owner, is a most gracious lady and made sure we were comfortable. Yes, we needed an SUV to get there as the road leading to the cottage is quite rocky and uneven. We were greeted by 3 large, loving dogs. Geckos abound along with many beautiful friendly birds. We most likely will return as we are now endeared to this place. The local people are quite friendly and helpful, also. Thank you, Louise!

Peaceful and Perfect
This is the second time I have stayed with Louise and I love it. She is a great host and the cottage is adorable with everything you would need. It is a really nice alternative to a beach location and still easy to get to all the other parts of the island by car. There are some lovely walks down country lanes and a few willing dogs if you want the company. I would definitely return and stay here again

Why stay elsewhere?
While searching for a place to stay during our trip to Antigua, I had several criteria in mind. I'd like to list them and explain how Tranquil Farm met the criteria, revealed new criteria we hadn't thought of, and exceeded our expectations.
We needed to get away from everything! The property offers seclusion without being frustratingly difficult to reach. The central location is ideal for people looking to explore the island. The driveway is really fun to traverse, just make sure you rent a vehicle with some ground clearance!
We wanted peace and a certain kind of quiet! The property is in the rainforest, so quiet nights aren't really an option. However, the noises we sought to and did in fact hear (frogs insects and birds) in the candlelight will put you in a trance while you lie in the four poster under the mosquito netting with the windows up and balancing a cold rum punch on your belly.
We wanted simplicity! Tranquil Farm is completely "off the grid" and can be as primitive as you want it to be. The cottage has lots of windows and the climate is so perfect that air con isn't necessary. There's a continer of fresh water and a charcoal brazier for cooking. There are also lots of candles and kerosene lamps. Not feeling so primitive? There's solar powered LED lighting, a fan, a radio, bedside lamps, wifi, two sinks, a real toilet, well stocked fridge (fed two for nearly a week) and very hot water in the outdoor shower.
The one thing we didn't expect was The owner herself. One of our fondest memories of the trip was getting to know her. We spent hours on our day of departure chatting and drinking delicious coffee. She met our every need as guests and more. She's extremely interesting and has a lot to offer in the way of Caribbean travel advice.
If you're going to Antigua, do yourself a favor and stay at Tranquil Farm. During the long flight home you'll enrapture your fellow passengers with the adventures you're likely to have had in choosing the type of trip travelers who'll find Tranquil Farm appealing. If you want an interesting trip, please make this your home base. The only thing you'll regret is having to leave!

Absolutely amazing
This was the most wonderful experience and a fantastic place to stay. Tranquillity Farm says it all. Just 15 mins from the bustling harbour or main town, yet once on the property the world can be a million miles away.
Waking to the sounds of nature, sitting in the hammock with my freshly brewed coffee and my kindle, fantastic outside shower, this is luxury in its purest form - I absolutely loved it!

Favorite accommodation in the Caribbean
We have been to several Caribbean islands, and Louise's cabin in the woods is by far our favorite place we have stayed. It is more charming than the posted images, if that is possible. Louise couldn't have been more welcoming or helpful. While a 4-wheel drive is a necessity and the location is off the beaten track, it is well worth the extra effort to find this little piece of heaven. It is a destination itself--great local walks (with or without her very friendly and well-behaved dogs) and a chance to see a part of the island most visitors don't. The outdoor shower feels very private and has the best hot water. The flush toilet, electric lights, and gas-powered refrigerator all make you forget how eco it really is. While somewhat out-of-the-way, the cabin is closer to most of the island's more interesting attractions than is, for example, Dickenson Bay, where we had previously stayed. Don't miss Wallings Dam and walking to the top of the hill for a view of Guadaloupe and Montserrat. And Rendezvous Bay Beach is lovely (although, as remote as it is by car--again 4-wheel drive is necessary!--people boat over from Falmouth Harbour and English Bay, so don't expect to be alone). I miss Louise and the dogs and the birds and the cabin and the woods and the entire experience. I want to go back!

Our week on the farm
Our stay at this little cottage was perfect in every way.
I knew from the description and the photographs that it would be special and it was. Everything was as described. Very comfortable.
We were welcomed by Martin who made sure we settled in ok and periodically he'd check in to see if all was well. So nice! A few days later Louise returned from abroad and we loved her, she brought me a fan I thought I might need but in the end was not really necessary as there were always lovely breezes.
The surrounding area for long walks is amazingly beautiful, fields of lemon grass and fruit trees here and there...........three of Louise's dogs accompanied us at all times which was amusing!
There were things in the fridge and on the shelves to tide us over including charcoal for the BBQ. Plenty of linens and supplies in the bathroom too.
It is true you do need a 4 wheel drive to get into this property .The drive up to the farm from the local church is off the main paved road but is stunningly beautiful and not too difficult at all.
I highly recommend this cottage for anyone who loves nature and wants to get off the beaten track. It is close to great restaurants and a beautiful beach should you wish to venture out.
We didn't want to leave and plan to return.....Ha! I wouldn't mind moving in!!
Thank you so much for the most magical stay.

Amazing bolthole deep in the Antiguan rainforest
What can l say about this beautiful little cottage on Tranquil Farm. Words cannot express how gorgeous this place is. We were welcomed by the marvellous Martin who showed us to our little lovenest that we had for 4 nights. Everything for your needs and open on all sides. Such a romantic location with no light pollution allowing for fantastic star gazing whilst listening to the tree frogs and crickets. Comfy bed and double hammock on the wrap round deck and a shower under the stars! The location of the cottage is deep in the country off the beautiful Fig Tree Drive just a stones throw from the gorgeous deserted beaches on the West coast. A 4WD is esential here as the access road is across some rough terrain but it was such fun to drive. The dogs were so sweet and we loved feeding the birds. Very chilled and relaxing to drink a rum and lychee punch when we returned home. Unfortunately we did not meet Louise but hope to when we return in the not too distant future. The cottage is a true hidden gem and allows you to experience some of the local culture-SO much better than an all inclusive which we would have hated! Thank you Martin for making our stay so memorable. Please come to Cornwall anytime for us to be able to return the fantastic hospitality.

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
If you are looking for a peaceful, romantic, beautiful location to getaway from it all..
this is it! We only stayed a few nights and had planned a few days at Sandals Antigua. Once at Sandals, we were actually missing this cottage!
All the commodities are available, lighting, flushing toilet, running water, nice linens, fridge, plenty of utensils-cooking pots and pans. The outdoor shower is great and so is the lovely front porch with the hammack. Louise is a fabulous host and even prepares a welcome food package for your arrival (bread, butter, juices, milk, fresh eggs, veggies and even a bottle of wine!) Just be careful not to leave any food out as the birds will help themselves! You definately need a small SUV-Jeep, which you would anyways as it is best to explore the island. Beaches are a short drive away, so are many beach restaurants. We would go back to this place in a heart beat and would recommend to anyone who enjoys a quiet nature getaway!

Chamrming Country Cottage
We absolutely loved our stay on Tranquil farm. If you love the country and fancy a change from the beach, this cottage is perfect, right in the heart of Antigua off fig tree drive, (rain forrest area) It was very clean and well equipped, Louise was the perfect host. We arrived to find a bottle of wine in the fridge and some food to tide us over for the first night, which was a really nice touch. I liked the fact that it uses solar power too. There are some great walks and friendly dogs to accompany you if you choose. It is very quiet and peaceful up there as the name suggests and I would highly recommend this to any like minded travelers.

Amazing Rainforest Cottage - Romantic and secluded, yet close to all major beaches and sights
We stayed at the cottage for a couple nights during our honeymoon in Antigua and absolutely loved it. The cottage is in the middle of the lush rainforest, about 30 min from the airport. The last stretch of the road does get pretty rough, so an SUV/4x4 is definitely recommended and makes the drive actually pretty fun. The place is very centrally located in the middle of the island, so you can get to all the major beaches as well as English Harbour and St. John within 30 min or less. The Rainforest Canopy Zip Line Tour is just 5 min down the road. The cottage itself is very quaint, very tastefully decorated and super clean. The description and pictures reflect the cottage very well. The outdoor kitchen and shower give the cottage rustic, but very charming touch (taking a shower in the morning you feel like your standing under a waterfall in the middle of the rainforest). A big plus is the mosquito-netting so you can keep all windows and doors open for ventilation. And the view of the stars at night was incredible! Above all, Louise was a wonderful host who went out of her way to make our stay a fantastic experience. She provided us with home-baked breads (especially loved the banana bread!) and other tasty staples (including a bottle of champagne) upon our arrival. With her 25 years of experience on the island, Louise gave us some great insider tips for the island and connected us with a number of fantastic folks for other activities we wanted to explore (e.g. sailing, off-the-beaten track beaches, local favorite restaurants, shopping, etc.). We also loved her four dogs - they're super friendly and will become your best friends immediately. We had an amazing time and definitely recommend staying at Louise's cottage!

Peaceful rainforest retreat
My wife and I had a superb 10 nights here in this hidden gem up in Antigua's small rainforest. It was everything it promised to be, splendidly removed from the world but close enough to the beaches and restaurants for convenience. The eco-cabin was exactly as the pictures describe, comfortable, homely and ventilated, we were impressed by its genuine eco attributes. We also loved the open- air shower facing the jungle and the stars above, it was really cool. Our favorite part of the place were the two hammocks that hang on the wide porch, we spent hours reading and sipping beers, there was just no need to be anywhere else.
The buzz of the jungle at night is impressive, you'd think you're in the middle of the Amazon, but barely 15 mins away by car you have the most pristine beaches imagineable down in carlisle bay and beyond. Coasting down Fig Tree Drive to get to the beaches was always a superb view, what a beautiful island!
We found our 4WD indispensible in getting to the cabin, as its a short but bumpy gravel drive from the paved road, but fun to do anyhow. The owner, Louise, was really lovely and accommodating, she gave us all the tips and advise needed for our short stay, and she looked after us if ever we needed something, she's done up the place brilliantly.
This place is hard to beat, and anyone who loves real nature, rainforests and beaches will love this place too. Will be back!
