Das Spicewood Cabin befindet sich im Herzen des malerischen Nelson County. Unser familiengeführtes Anwesen liegt eingebettet in die Blue Ridge Mountains direkt am wunderschönen Harpers Creek! Diese 100 Jahre alte Hütte wurde kürzlich renoviert und bietet den Charme, den Sie erwarten, kombiniert mit modernen Annehmlichkeiten, die Ihren Aufenthalt komfortabel, gemütlich und entspannt machen. Die Spicewood-Hütte ist ein einstöckiges Haus, das familienfreundlich und für diejenigen zugänglich ist, die keine Treppen mögen! Wir sind nur 16 Meilen von der Basis des Wintergreen Ski Resort, die Skifahren, Snowboarden, Wandern, Essen, Familienfeiern und vieles mehr bietet! Für unsere Wanderfreunde sind wir nur eine halbe Meile von einem Appalachenpfad entfernt, der Sie auf den Weg bringt, um den Gipfel von The Priest oder Three Ridges zu besteigen. Außerdem sind wir nur 8 km von den herrlichen Crabtree Falls entfernt, einem der höchsten Wasserfälle auf dieser Seite des Mississippi! Beautiful, relaxing stay at Spicewood Cabin. The creek was flowing and my grandsons had a wonderful time catching critters. Lots of room to roam the property. Highly recommend stay here!

The property was nice and location was decent. Easy to get to area attractions. Do wish that the creek had water. It would have been nice to sit and listen to the water run while outside at the fire pit. Love how they had the fire pit arranged and the location of it. The wood pile was stocked nicely. Only issue we really had was the dogs barking from the neighbors. While inside the cabin you don’t hear them. Loved the stock of movies they had and we watched several while we were there. Would love to come back in the winter.

Very cute and quaint cottage was perfect for what we wanted, just some time together. Everything was great. The house wasnt far off the road which was a nice surprise, was expecting to have to travel at a 90 degree angle up a side of a mountain to get there. But everything was lovely and would stay here again!

I understand the owners can’t control the weather, but I feel the photos of the creek must have been taken after days of very heavy rainfall, as they show a large rushing creek. We booked this cabin for the sole purpose of a creek in the backyard and upon arrival, it was completely dry. It rained on our third and fourth day, and still the creek bed was dry. There were also mouse droppings all over the bottom of the free standing “pantry”. We were also surprised to find the two bedrooms were attached and separated by a door that was hard to close. One of the bedrooms has a sliding door opening to the kitchen/living area that is attached to the wall that “closes” with a hook, leaving an inch to two inch gap all around, so not good for blocking sound between the two areas. We prepared many meals here and found it annoying that there were only two sharp knives. If sitting outside, be prepared to hear neighboring dogs barking continuously, thankfully you can’t hear it while inside. The cabin is close to hikes and breweries, which was nice. Sherando Lake is about 30 minutes away and was a great place for a hot day.

The only negative i would say about this is that they should update their pictures online! They have done upgrades and that should be shown in the listing! well worth going for a weekend! I just wish it wouldn’t have been during the dry season so the creek would’ve had more water in it. It’s an amazing property and we had a wonderful time! Can’t wait to go back!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. The cabin is in a great spot while still being easily accessible to Wintergreen, Crabtree Falls and Humpback Rock. The views in this area are as unreal. Definitely would return.

We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin! What can't be beat is the spacious outdoor area. Large area to build a fire and relax and the creek was the best part for our young boys. They loved playing in the creek and digging in the dirt. Hours of outside play. The cabin was clean and the beds were comfortable. No bathtub! So you have to shower kids who may only be used to baths. The only real negative was the bugs. I understand, you're in the woods, but we've stayed at other cabins with a few bugs here and there, there were literally 40+ flies and stink bugs on arrival. No matter how many we caught, they just kept coming over our 3 day stay. I think there must be poor seals on windows and doors, etc. Luckily only flies and stink bugs, so harmless, but my boys were definitely not happy about it 😂 I'd still recommend this place, it was great, but just be prepared if you really hate bugs. I'd recommend to the host to keep a handheld vacuum available. It would be so much easier to suck them all up as they come in.

Such a nice property! We especially loved the outdoor spaces - deck, fire pit area, and the bench beside the creek. Quiet and peaceful! Very close to the trailhead for the A.T., which we loved. Go north to climb Three Ridges or south to climb The Priest. The bed was super-comfy too! Great place to unwind.

Would highly recommend. The cabin is cozy on the inside with a peaceful backyard with deck and a firepit with wood pile. Very much enjoyed the location and during the daytime we explored the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. The Appalachian Trail is a quarter of a mile away with a car park for a day hike. Thanks!

Our family really enjoyed our stay in the cabin. We were able to explore the surrounding area to include hiking Crabtree Falls, and spending three days at Wintergreen. The cabin was very comfortable for our family, and we also really enjoyed the cabin’s outdoor amenities. The two bedrooms had super comfortable beds with probably the best mattresses I’ve ever slept on!! The wood burning stove was such a neat touch that we enjoyed.

Gem in the Mountains, surrounded by water, lots of character in the cabin. Well stocked cabin of what is needed. No internet, which was great.

This is my fourth year returning the this cozy mountain retreat, and it never disappoints. The owners have made some lovely upgrades to the cabin since my last stay. My only complaint is that the stays are always too short. Can’t wait until next year!

Everything was exceptional! A beautiful combination of cabin life with modern amenities! No signal, no problem! We LOVED being so remote and “shut off” from the world to rest and recharge. Have a map handy just incase you decide to venture out…. and find a way to embrace the barkers up the street… Otherwise, it was an incredible stay with EVERYTHING we needed to feel at home! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️,

I have an unfortunate habit of booking this lovely cabin on rainy weekends every year, but my family had a very enjoyable time despite the rain and wind. As always, it was a comfortable getaway from all electronic devices. We baked, roasted hot dogs and s’mores in the wood stove (improvised!), and watched movies. The kitchen was well-appointed and the beds were comfortable. Can’t wait to stay here again and actually try out the new back deck!

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay. From the creek on the property to the river 100 yards away, it was all a blast. We hiked to the top of the gorgeous Crabtree Falls. Sad to see the orchard up the road (does not belong to the cabin owners) closed and all the apples just falling on the ground and rotting away. Seclusion at its finest. Only very tiny change I would make is to somehow put a method in to check the weather! We had a storm roll through, and we had no idea how severe it was or how long it would last. We couldn't tune in a radio station and didn't have cell service (which was great besides the weather thing).

It was great to be disconnected for a bit where the phones didn’t work and we could engage as a family. We played games and roasted marshmallows. It was a great time.

We stayed here for two nights- were planning to camp nearby but the weather was not favorable. This location was perfect and the cabin was so cute. We enjoyed coffee/reading on the porch in the morning and smores around the fire at night. The kids loved the hammock and the creek. It is close to several great hiking trails and breweries. We will definitely stay again.

The Garagno family was so easy to work with, very informative and prompt with replies to my questions. The cabin was amazing, the backyard with the fire pit was amazing and the river running through the backyard was paradise. Can’t wait to go back!

We highly enjoyed our stay at Spicewood Cabin. The creek was so peaceful to listen to. The only request my husband had to go away was to stay by a creek and it delivered. We loved the wood stove and the cabin. We had everything we needed. Also enjoyed Crabtree falls meadow and the excursion to the top of the mountain. It’s nice to unplug and relax in nature. Thank you for a lovely stay! We will be back again

We loved everything about this sweet little place. Everything was explained nicely. House was stocked with all the essentials and the coffee in the morning was a great touch. I love the little details everywhere. The creek in the back is a wonderful place to start your day. The fire area was wonderful. I loved relaxing in the hammock after hiking each day. Unplugging was a game changer. I even got my husband to play board games one night. There are some hunting dogs that live up the road and if the winds just right, you can hear them. Beyond that there are so many trails nearby. It's so peaceful. If you have a 4wd dare yourself to follow the Crabtree meadows parking lot signs a few miles up the road. You drive until the last 1 1/4 miles to the top and hike the rest. Great adventure. We will be back!

Staying here has become a fall tradition for us, and Spicewood Cabin never fails to disappoint! The owners obviously have put love and care into making guests as comfortable as possible—thinking of every possible detail to make the cabin a “home away from home”!

Perfect Storybook Cottage
We had a wonderful stay. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful cottage. The cabin itself is cozy, comfortable and inviting and the setting is beautiful. I loved the surrounding mountains and creeks. We spent a day visiting nearby breweries and wineries and another full day hiking. There was plenty to keep us busy. We finished each night around the campfire back at the cottage. It was so nice to relax and unplug.

Perfect Getaway
My wife and our hoard of children, all 10 and under, traveled to this quaint getaway and loved it. The home was clean and was just the right setup for intimate family time. No wifi and a small home meant that every activity was a family one. Games, movies, fire pit, playing sports and tag in the yard, sitting by the creek, it was a perfect getaway. It was also close enough to activities like Liberty Sportsplex and snowtuning at Wintergreen that it allowed us to have fun away from the cabin as well.
We had minimal issues while there. Our only issue was that the wood pieces for the firepit hadn't been split, but when we contacted the Gargano's, we received a prompt reply and a swift resolution to our issue. I recommend this place 1000x over. Thank you.

Nice remote getaway.
Last minute rental to meet up with family at Wintergreen. Although only about 12 miles its around the other side of mtn so more like30 to 40 min drive. Otherwise it was great, had everything we needed. Little dusty and smoky so beware if any in your party have severe allergies.

Amazing!
We were a little cautious about the whole no cell phone and WiFi but it was so nice to disconnect! The property itself was gorgeous the rooms and bathrooms big. The kitchen is stocked with the essentials and the board game and DVD collection were also great. Throughly enjoyed the recommendations of things to do like Crab tree falls and Devils backbone!
