Unser Ziel ist es unsere Besucher mit einem einzigartigen und komfortablen Aufenthalt in einer ruhigen, ländlichen Umgebung zu bieten. Amazing! The Cottage was so homey, cozy and clean. Our host Gale was very hospitable and breakfast each day was delicious. This is our new go to..we will be back this Fall.

The property is exactly what it says it is. The photos don't really do it justice, but when do they? It's cute and tiny and perfect. It's just the right size for one or two people. There's a large yard and lots of buildings. I enjoyed walking around exploring. Breakfast each morning was a treat, absolutely delicious, and delivered without interruption to my time or solitude. The kitchen is also well-equipped. Everything was comfortable... bed, chairs, couch. Setting the ambient temperature was easy, and could be changed quickly. The bathroom was clean and well-stocked, great water pressure and lots of hot water. There's no TV, but when I mentioned wanting to watch movies, the property owner provided an old laptop that plays DVDs. It was perfect. There's no wi-fi, but I got a good mobile signal. Be sure to not miss the attic loft. I was thrilled at this cute little surprise. I cannot fully express how perfect Kate's Cottage is. I even got to enjoy the farm cat and Flo, the Dog, both friendly and eager to welcome. I can't imagine not staying here again some time. It's perfect for a retreat any season.

The Getaway You've Always Needed
This place is absolutely perfect. If you spent your childhood out in the open fields with your parents/grandparents and find yourself longing for the simplicity that life brought you, here is your stay. It is perfect. Such a cute cottage! We loved the quietness of the location. Within 30 minutes from Vermillion if you want dinner options. Gale makes the best breakfast!

A perfect stay on this idyllic farm
Kate’s cottage is a perfect place for a get away or just a stop over. Host Gale thought of everything to make our stay absolutely perfect. She is super accommodating and communicative. Staying on her farm which has been in her family for 100+ years was such a treat. This was one of most memorable places we have stayed at in years. We look forward to staying here again.

Incredible Stay in a Beautiful Cottage
It was an absolutely treat to get to stay at this cottage. Gale is an incredible host. It felt like a complete and thorough stay amongst the beautiful backdrop of South Dakota. The property is clean and beautifully decorated. It's so very comfortable, if you never get an experience like this one then I would say you were missing out. Thank you for everything, I was sad to leave!

Our host, Gale, was around taking care of animals, so we were able to interact with her on several occasions; she was friendly and helpful with information on the area. We enjoyed our June three-night stay immensely. The cabin is tastefully decorated, with details of original woodwork adding to its charm. We had plenty of space, the bed was comfortable, and the breakfasts were delicious. We also enjoyed the company of the dog, cats, and goats.

Easy to find, absolutely beautiful inside and out. I have been recommending it to people because I want them to understand how nice it was. Both breakfasts were superb. I would stay there again if I need to overnight for something at USD again.

Delightfully cozy, and restful Getaway
We loved this sweet place in the country.....The quietness of the cottage setting was a gift to us. We loved the simple unhurried atmosphere that was present. Our minds were filled with precious memories of yesteryear as we celebrated our 47th wedding anniversary. Perfect Cottage
Loved this property!! Quiet cottage on a historic farm. Very comfortable bed. Cute as can be. Be prepared to be hungry for breakfast - Gale really is a great cook and did a great job feeding us. I think we left with more food than we came with because we kept leftovers. Loved petting Flo - the dog and Jack - the cat.

Perfect relaxing getaway
My husband and I came here for a weekend retreat. It was absolutely the perfect location. The cottage was adorably and thoughtfully furnished, including bathrobes and fresh baked cookies. It was warm and cozy despite the winter chill. Gale's breakfasts were amazing and it felt so luxurious to have breakfast ready to eat when we woke up. Like staying at a bed and breakfast, but with far more privacy and for way less money. Will definitely return!

The cottage was so nice, and peaceful. It was also very clean, and beautifully decorated.
The welcoming treats left on the stove were nice, after a long car ride. Breakfast was delivered in two baskets, right on time. The host was very friendly. The property was very quiet. It was a nice change from staying at a hotel.

Great place with great breakfasts on a beautiful farm.
Gale went above and beyond as a host. She made wonderful scones and muffins for breakfast and was able to accommodate my diet restrictions. The place was very nice and well maintained. It is located on a beautiful farm. Really glad I stayed at Kate’s Cottage. My only complaint would be that the bed was a little firm.

This was our second visit to Kate's Cottage and we enjoyed it as much this time as the first time. Gale is such a wonderful host and such a great cook! I think I was most excited about the breakfast that she prepared for us each morning - so good! And Sam, our Goldendoodle, was so happy to see Flo again. A little piece of heaven
What can I say that hasn't already been said! Every word of it is true!
The cottage is picture perfect! All we needed was neatly stored somewhere, even fresh eggs. Gail's gracious generosity was heartwarming...her delicious breakfast delivered in baskets each morning and friendly conversation were delightful. The animals...flo, jack and batcat, the goats and chickens were so much entertainment. Our grandson couldn't get enough.
If only you could bottle up the serenity and tranquility and take it home to treasure forever!

A welcomed step back in time...
This cottage is a place that echoes contentment and calm of an era gone by. You cannot help but breathe deep that calm and just...be. Gail made my anniversary weekend perfect; clean and inviting place to stay, delicious breakfasts each morning, and quietude in her unobtrusive way. I almost do not want to leave a review to keep this treasure a slight secret, but to do that would be to do a great disservice to Gail’s diligent, hard work. I will return as often as I am able!

Beautiful cottage and outstanding service!
The cottage is beautifully appointed ... updated while maintaining the original structure and character. Love the location, the quiet surroundings, and the atmosphere. The surrounding communities provide awesome options ... museums, local restaurants, all within a short distance.
Gale was a consummate host ... her hospitality was beyond excellent. She delivered fresh-cooked breakfast every day with a smile and fun chats! She is the perfect balance of providing excellent service while allowing privacy to her guests ... an awesome host in all the ways that matter!

Just Perfect!
My husband and I had a wonderful time at "Kate's Cottage" as did our dog, Sam. He played with Flo, Gale's son's lab, non-stop during our stay which made our stay even more enjoyable knowing that he was free to run around and had a buddy to do it with. When we arrived, we were greeted with cupcakes and each morning we had a wonderful breakfast waiting for us. We were both in heaven the whole time we were there. The cottage and the farm were just incredibly peaceful. My husband and I are pretty picky about VRBO rentals - sometimes the pictures make the properties look better and cleaner than they are. In this case, the cottage and farm were even better in person. If we lived closer, I think we'd probably book it every couple months just to unwind. Thank you Gale and Gaylan for a wonderful stay! We'll be back!
