I think this is the best place for your first stop in Sri Lanka. You have beach 3’ walk and also advantages of big city. When I read the reviews, I was scared there’s going to be very hot in the room, but the owner obviously takes the reviews seriously and it was pleasant surprise to me that there was the A/C in the room. There is an amazing rooftop to chill and get rested after the flight. There is a train station near by, from where you can continue your journey around Sri Lanka. The owner is very nice and helped us with planning our trip around. We will be back, we fell in love with this place!

The aircon worked and the bed was comfy enough. They were accommodating for late arrivals

There was dirt on the sheets when i arrived, mostly likely blown off from the aircon. The shower worked and was a nice temperature but the fixing was broken so it was only a trickle.

minimum comfort, definitely not good value for money ! you can find much more affordable rooms all around. They really just provide you with a bed, in a very hot room (no AC and only 1 fan for 10 people !!) only one outlet in the room to charge your phone (you basically have to queue to use it)

sleeping in a dorm unfortunately meant extreme heat that makes sleeping quite difficult. the mosquito nets were too small as well so you couldnt even stretch out in the damp heat of the room. i would love for a fan to be enough but in this climate a dorm needs to have an a/c. totally fine if its only on during the night to save energy.

I stopped for a night on my way down south, so it made sense to stop in Mount Lavinia. The property is close to the beach and there are decent food places nearby.

The wifi wasn’t working, and this was a bit of a problem since I work on the go. The shower in the private room was a mere trickle, and there was no hot water. For the price point, the facilities didn’t really add up.

The rooftop is fantastic and the owner who is a lovely chap with fluent English is looking to develop it further. Location is 30m from Colombo fort and a couple of minutes from the beach.

Great location by the beach, staff was very friendly and I could store my luggage there for free until I am back. Amazing first stop to meet another people and explore Sri Lanka with.

Comfortable bed, amazing rooftop garden, big kitchen, good vibe. Shopes and beach is 5 minutes walk. I also liked the girls at the reception, they gave me some good tips and advices. I recomend this place

The two girls from the reception are lovely and helpful with everything you are asking them! The cleaning man is nice and is cleaning all time :) The rooftop kitchen/garden is really nice to chill, relax, cook, eat, drink and meet new people! The 8 bed dorm upstairs was spacious with an interesting shower;) the garden in front is nice to hang around too... 2min walking to the beach with lovely restaurants (sugar beach). Also the main road is close by with two supermarkets where u find everything u need, bus stops are around, 10min walking to Station Road Mount Lavinia to catch a train!

The kitchen area needs a bit more cutlery (sharp knives etc.) and a bit more storage for food which doesnt have to be in the fridge, but that's complaining on a high level ;)
