So, this review is made in the context that this is being a hostel not a 3 star hotel. We really liked it. The staff were friendly and helpful and found somewhere to store our tandem bicycle the kitchen was well equipped, there was a bar with an honesty box, the communal space was large and warm and furnished in a mid-century retro style, the shared bathroom was clean. This is excellent hostel accommodation
Can't think of anything.

Mattresses worn out - was pretty uncomfortable

Amazing lounge/living room with board games. True hostel with great spaces to socialize, frozen pizza to buy and just overall amazing spot to just chill in. Also you can see Snaefellnessjokull from the window..

4 bed bunkroom which was quiet and had black out curtains so it was dark which was great, had a great sleep. They didn't have any events (music or movies etc) on so I was lucky from a noise point of view (but would have been good to have something to do in the evening), I'm thinking if they had it may have been a noisy night (given the building layout). Affordably priced. Has a big communal lounge area with a bar and board games. Lots of parking. Seemed safe.
Bathroom/showers needed a clean. Not much going on in that neighbourhood in the evening.

Seriously good vibes from the check-in process to the fellow travellers topped off by elite location and no light pollution so can see the northern lights

The Freezer Hostel is a unique place to stay. It was the only place where we really got to speak with local Icelanders. Loved the communal space and the kitchen had everything we needed. Great place to base your trip in the Snaefellnes Penninsula and the staff was super helpful with places to visit. Fabulous music on our 2nd night. Don't miss the opportunity to walk around town! The arctic tern refuge is really interesting, just be smart about how close you get.
The four bed dorm is the closest to the kitchen, so expect some noise early and late, but this is the best room for privacy for a family of four. Everyone was respectful if we let them know that we were going to bed or still asleep. Rooms do not get locked, except from the inside, but felt very safe. What you get at the Freezer far outweighs any issues with noise from the kitchen.

Artists' works in rooms and toilets, super cozy armchairs, cinema night, live music, close to Snaefellsjokull National Park, you can endlessly look at Snaefellsjokull from the window
Super small washbasins

The staff members were friendly and accommodating. Although there was no formal breakfast, there were a few things to buy in the morning, including coffee and instant oatmeal. Also, my daughter could use the fridge in the communal kitchen and prepare food in the kitchen. We liked the hostel's funky vibe and interior as well as its history as a venue for musicians and comedians. The room, though small, was comfortable, and we had our own private bathroom with a shower. We loved the mural art by a local artist of a Norse goddess. The parking was free. It was close to an Arctic tern sanctuary.
We felt that the cost of the room was high for a hostel, but then it's Iceland. The shower water was luke warm and it was on a timer, so we needed to press the button to restart the water every couple of minutes. We wish they'd had a formal breakfast.

Great location near the national park. Arctic terns nesting all around. Lovely large communal area, a well-equipped kitchen.
Nothing. It was a great place to stay

I fell in love with this place! The staff gives you a heartwarming welcome and the lobby is a place that makes you feel at home. A cosy place packed with card / board games our children really enjoyed.
My only regret is that I did not stay longer at the Freezer.

Such a cool hostel with super welcoming lounge area. Amazing staff who was generous with tips on what to do. The night I was there they had a great singer playing, its so much more than just a hostel.
It was easy to get to with a car, I highly recommend it :)

A very nice place. It was an old fish factory and what the owners do out of this place is awesome. Thanks a lot for the nice time

I have only spent one night at The Freezer but it’s surely a place that I would remember and definitely recommend to others. The Freezer is much more than just a hostel. The vibe, the atmosphere… everything is so different and amazing. This place includes a lot of toilets and bathrooms, so if one is not available there is always another one available. The guy at the reception is super friendly and welcoming.

I liked the big space, I felt like being in a warehouse in East London. So much character.
I also liked the many couches where to hang around and play board games, listening to music. The bathrooms were clean and the room had these amazing fresh paintings.
They are not very responsive. I have emailed the hostel twice and received no response. I emailed them because I made a double booking and kindly asked them to cancel this and get a refund (this was done straight after I made the second booking). The secondo booking was made because bookings.com stated that the room was gone, after I entered my payment details, and when I refreshed the page, the room was still available and re made the payment. This got me 2 rooms booked instead of one.

Very unique and quirky hostel with a fun vibe. Lots of art and comfy furniture in the common area. Musical instruments and games as well. Laundry was clutch.
Had to walk through a stage area to get to room. Didn’t really mind but was interesting .

Great facilities, very cool rooms! The staff was super helpful as we arrived very late after getting stuck on a snow storm. It's all trust based, very chilled atmosphere 👍

Hostel is quite big. Nice common area with a lot of things to do if you'd like. Perfect place for a hostel in a remote area.

That's hostel with soul and you can feel it whan you are sitting in huge shared living room, kitchen or cinema hall with table tenis on the back. It was really nice stay and we really appreciate ear plugs which available for free for everyone 😅

The hostel is amazing, so original , really cozy, warm and clean, staff very friendly and helpful.
Water was unfortunately not warm in the room and could not make it warmer. In the shower you can only press the botton but not choose the temperature. The fan in the room kept running all night long ( not a huge deal do and you can always get ear plugs for free at the reception)

No hot water for shower. I didn't like that.
