We absolutely LOVED Villa La Luz. The staff is top notch and the breakfast was wonderful. The hotel is immaculate and very conveniently located to Playa del Ropa. There is a taxi stand just down the street from the back door. The bed and bedroom was comfortable. The grounds and pool are very clean and beautifully maintained.

There are no TVs in any of the 7 rooms which is not a major issue however, the spotty/slow Internet is frustrating. I believe WIFI boosters or repeaters in each room would help alleviate that issue. Only two rooms in the hotel have any cooking capabilities (each room has a refrigerator) so keep that in mind for longer stays. The one issue that was most concerning for us was the locking mechanism on the front door. The front door locks and unlocks with a key only. So in case of an emergency the front door would be a major blockage. The only other exit is the back stairs down to the beach which a steep, narrow spiral staircase which would be bottleneck in an emergency.

Everything about La Villa Luz is exceptional! From the moment you step beyond the gate and onto the property you are transported into an exquisite paradise. We stayed in 2 different rooms and both provided panoramic views of the ocean and lush gardens. The staff are amazing! They are helpful, attentive and become like family. The breakfasts offered were among the best meals we had during our stay. I can not more highly recommend La Villa Luz and my husband and I look forward to returning soon!

honestly, I liked everything

This is a very interesting property. It is like living in a Swiss Family Robertson Treehouse. Quaint little rooms. Very nice staff. All so helpful and wanting to make our stay as good as possible. It is a small operation only accepting 7 couples. Beautiful swimming pool and garden area. We could open the unit up to the outdoors on three sides and enjoy the sunsets, the view and the sea breezes.

The property is built on a hillside. This means lots of stairs in the hotel. There is no way around using stairs. One of the stair systems is a tight spiral staircase. I am coming off a broken femur and did struggle with the amount of stairs. A caution to those of limited mobility. Also, there was no ice machine on the property. An inconvenient truth.

The hotel is a small 7-room hotel. It's like being in paradise. The view from the terrace is unbelievable. Playa de Ropa is only a short walk from the back door. There is a wonderful Italian restaurant within walking distance. Old town is about a 30-minute walk which my granddaughter and daughter did a few times. There are many cabs available - night and day. Their cook offers a wonderful breakfast with many choices. The pool area is surrounded by beautiful plants where one can relax with a good book.

I booked the unit with the kitchen not knowing that it was a 3-level unit. Bedroom on top, bathroom on second floor and kitchen/ sitting area on main floor. I gave this room to the younger members of the group and my husband, and I took their room. The pool has no rails so it can be difficult for some people. There are many stairs which is common for hotels in this area. The spiral staircase was a surprise. I would like to suggest that kitchen towels should be supplied in the kitchen unit.

The Villas we beautiful and it was in a great location. Next to many restaurants and some bars. Villas we’re close to beach about a 3 minute walk down the hill.

We checked in and we’re quickly taken to our room when we didn’t go up to the top room which I had chosen for my honeymoon! We were starving so just had staff drop our bags off and we got a quick tour of property and it’s amenities… after getting back from lunch I looked around and wondered if we were in the wrong room. We were not in a master suite which I had paid for as it was my honeymoon. My wife had been shown pictures by me a couple days before and was so excited about the room… she didn’t want to say anything because didn’t want to make a big deal about it. I went to top lobby and was told that that was the master suite because it had a balcony and a master size bed. But I was still hesitant and still questioned it so the doorman/check-in guy said he’d show me the other 2 rooms to compare them if I’d like and he saw my face and I showed him the booking. The pictures showed that top room that was vacant at the time and I told him that was the room I chose. He said he would see what he could do about it and asked if we had used any part of room or used any of restroom. I told him we didn’t that he saw us leave to eat dinner and he suggested a place near by. I gave him an hour and when I went back to see if there was anything done then he stated that the people in the other room had checked in already and I should of said something earlier when we checked in. We had just dropped out bags left to eat and we’re back within 2 hours. He first said I was in the correct room but then said I should of said something which I did just 2 hours later. Then within the hour after bringing it to his attention he said they had check in and it could of been either the room we were in or that top room which I had toured. He said if I would of told him earlier you could of put me there. Basically I paid for the master suite and just got a suite and it could of been fixed but we were to late even though we had brought it up to them.

The loca was perfect, view of la Playa Beach, quick walk.

Absolutely nothing!

We loved La Villa Luz so much! We just got back from a wonderful relaxing, romantic and adventurous week in Zihua. It was our first time to Zihua and we were really happy we stayed here for the whole week. The staff are so friendly and relaxed that it confers such a mellow and welcoming vibe to the whole place. The tropical landscaping is immaculate, the pool so fresh and warm and inviting you don’t want to leave. Chef Fide is amazing with her breakfast cooking, we stayed a week and had a different breakfast Mexican food selection each morning. The value is excellent and it is right on the best beach in Zihua, La Ropa beach. Good restaurants are close by and walking distance. We figured out how to walk to town along the waterfront path and it made it more scenic to go to town and the central Mercado. We can’t wait to return to our friends at La Villa Luz. The experience is so much more than staying at a hotel, the rooms are unique and comfortable.

The railings are not up to US standards and could be a little challenging for someone with a fear of heights or vertigo.

great location with easy access to beach. mini bus comes by often so you can be in Zihua in 15 mins. cost .65 usd.

Charming. Immaculately kept. Friendly and personal staff. Made to order breakfast. Lovely view from room. Nice pool area with bathroom and shower to wash off the beach. Comfortable beds. Has a bed and breakfast home-like feel.

Not dislikes per se more as things you should know...no chairs or umbrellas to use at the beach. They provide beach towels, which we used and found nice spot on beach. Need to leave the property for lunch and dinner unless make special arrangements.

There were many things. First of all: extremely loud music and scream during the night!!!! We barely got any sleep at all! After the first night disaster we were told it shouldn’t be happening, but it did happen again! We were moved to much smaller room without any reimbursement. The manager, I assume it was a manager (she didn’t even talk to us in person)-didn’t do anything, absolutely nothing, to make us feel better or try to fix the noise, that she said shouldn’t be happening. The room we were moved to had NO WARM WATER. We had to shower under cold water. After complaining about it via booking.com( because that the only way), we didn’t even hear from the manager herself again. The night guard came in and “fix” that broken shower. The staff of the hotel is other issue. They do nothing. They hang around the house all day in common areas, chat among themselves and pay no attention to guests. We had to search for staff everyday to ask for pool area to be prepared, then for pool towels, for water, for information on who is handling check out, who do we pay and so on. If we needed something- we had to waist our holiday time searching for them or texting them. The staff and the management have to change the way they operate. It ruins the whole picture of the amazing house itself. For the noise we had, cold shower water, texting and trying to fix stuff during our stay- we got nothing from the hotel. Not a sorry or even so a complimentary coffee. I don’t think we could recommend this place to our friends and family.

Overly expensive room for what we got. Lots of misinformation between the staff. It's NOT beachfront, and not that close to the beach. No reception staff throughout the full day (hours limited to 10a-6p), limited hours of room service, you're provided a front door key and a back door code so you can help yourself in and out since there's nobody available for this throughout the whole day - none of this is explained anywhere prior to placing the booking. They said they have a policy on using the room before the check-in time, such policy is charging more money for the hours before check-in, even though the room was empty and already available when we got there, and we were told by the staff that we could use it when we got there (even though we just went to get more information about the check-in and parking). The "parking" is outside the property and it's only 3 spots for all 7 rooms. And the cherry on top, there was a roach in our bedroom and they didn't seem to care about it when we let them know.

The property was beautiful. The view was amazing! It had great proximity to the beach, but was also very accessible to downtown.

The mattress was a tad on the firm side. There were no do not disturb signs for the doors.

Loved the pool, the private balcony, the easy access to the beach, & the safety measures the staff took.

Other people were smoking and it lingered into our room often.
