Luigi and his wife were very sweet and welcoming. They made us a beautiful breakfast. The location was perfect in the middle of beautiful and charming Lucca.

The spotlessly clean property has 2 bedrooms, we stayed here with friends so had the whole place to ourselves. Fantastic location, everything easy walking distance. The staff ( husband and wife) arrived each morning to set out the fabulous continental breakfast, lots of choice. They were so lovely and couldn’t do enough for you.

The property was very well kept and comfortable. The breakfasts were continental, catering for all. The cake and coffee were fantastic. Everything you need to start the day. Luigi and Francesca were welcoming hosts and very helpful with recommending the best places to eat and any other queries. The property was based within the walls of Lucca about a 20 minute walk from the train station and within easy distance of restaurants and places to visit.

Our hosts, Luigi and Francesca, couldn't do enough to look after us. Our room was just delightful, with a lovely bathroom, and a wonderful breakfast was served each day. The hotel is in an excellent location, close to many restaurants, shops, basilicas, places to visit, and the amazing Lucca wall. We would stay there again in a heartbeat.

great breakfast and location

When arriving we had already someone waiting to greeting us, and show us the room. The room and bathroom were both large, well decorated, clean and comfortable. The hosts could not have been more kind and helpful. The breakfast was marvelous with lots of variety, everything was fresh and with healthy options. The location is very good, in the center of Lucca and close to a large square with many dinner options.

Nothing to point out. It was a marvelous and we would love to stay again at Antico Cancello, when visiting Lucca again.

Hosts Francesca & Luigi were super friendly & flexible. The checkin was so easy and we were made to feel extremely welcome. The bed was very comfortable.

A super comfortable place, the hospitality and kindness of the man who received us is unforgettable. During the mornings they have an exquisite breakfast and he is the one who serves it, making it a very pleasant company. Lucca was one of our favorite towns to visit in Italy, not being very big, the location of this place is very good. I recommend it 100%!

We did not manage to change the TV language, but it is not really a big problem.

This place deserves all of the high praise it has received. Lovely quiet rooms in the centre of town and the hosts, Luigi and Francesca are so welcoming. The breakfast is delicious, with a massive highlight being Francesca’s homemade cakes. Luigi was also great at helping us sort out a last minute change to our travel plans.

Location was perfect - fantastic shopping and restaurants just on the doorstep and very close to the city walls for walks/cycling. Hosts were fantastic and so welcoming.

Much to my delight and surprise, all the positive reviews about this amazing B & B turned out to be true! Francesca and Luigi are such welcoming hosts. Breakfast was beyond fantastic. It is modern and spotlessly clean and located in a quiet courtyard (an oasis) off the main street, yet near all the sites. I spent two wonderful weeks here while attending an Italian language school and would definitely stay there again!

Francesca and Luigi are exceptional hosts, nothing was too much trouble. This is a small, intimate B&B of just 2 rooms, inside the city walls and perfect location. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean. Breakfast exceptional. I would definately recommend staying here.

Beautiful setting, just inside the city walls Fantastic breakfast from the owners who couldn't do enough for us each morning, and wouldn't let us lift a finger to help when we offered. The whole experience of the B&B Antico Cancello was fantastic and enhanced a perfect stay in Lucca..would recommend this city & accommodation to anyone.

Central location. Lovely breakfast.

The location was excellent, right in the city centre and it was lovely area. Luigi met us and welcomed us, he gave us a map and some great recommendations for the city. The room and bathroom was very clean and had everything we needed! the bed was very comfortable and the shower was great! The breakfast was exceptional. Luigi and Francesca were great hosts and made us feel very welcome and we loved Francesca’s homemade cake, (everyone’s reviews were right!). Overall a lovely stay and we would definitely go there again.
