All the staff were really friendly and helpful. Lovely soft towels and bed linen. Good supply of tea/coffee in room. Very good cooked breakfast
Our Standard room (room 8 )was very small and cleanliness not up to standard - blinds were dusty, carpet dirty particularly in front part of room, several patches of mold on grout in shower and around bottom of shower screen. Door lock very temperamental - had problem getting into room most times. Path to the room overgrown with large lavender bush so had to step off path to get by or get wet. A LOT (more than 20) of cigarette ends in the pebble seating area outside of the room. We didn't report these problems but don't expect to find them in any establishment even one charging lower prices. All of the problems would have built up over time - not just since last guest. Are staff given enough time/materials to do the job properly??

The breakfast was very tasty. Vegetarian option well cooked and more than enough to eat. It was quite lively during the day, but very quiet and peaceful at night. Had a really good sleep. Lovely to sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down with a nice gin and tonic.
Overall for the price there was nothing really to dislike.

The room and the view were amazing, perfect for a break away from the routines and the balcony offered incredible sea views. we got what we came for but there were definitely some downsides to our stay.
There was a general lack of attention to detail - we had no remote for our TV on arrival and gave up asking for one after the third request. The room had a lot of cobwebs and dust - looked as though the cleaning was more superficial. The room wasn’t refreshed in any way during our stay - cups, refreshment supplies, toilet rolls etc. For £160 a night we were disappointed at that.
On our first night we arrived to a quiz night in full flow - which we knew about as we’d tried to book a table for dinner ahead of arriving. So we ventured out for a curry elsewhere and returned to find a disco after the quiz had finished which went on until midnight along with all the clearing up noise which followed. It would have been appreciated to have some warning of such a event - wouldn’t have affected our booking but we might have arrived later and stayed out later.

Pub with rooms in great location.
Unfortunately we were in a garden room which was very small, there was no soundproofing so people arriving late at night was very disturbing as you could hear them tramping up and down in the room above and the worst bit is that the bed was very uncomfortable - it sagged so much it hurt my back, so I ended up sleeping on the floor which is not what I expected for quite a high price.

It was clean and tidy and looking as if it had recently been refurbished.
I thought the Urban Fresh menu a little strange. there was nothing i would have liked to eat on the menu. also while the breakfasts we had were nice we werent offered any cereal or yogurts or fruit etc which would have been nice.

The room was large, clean and had lovely views
No communication from staff as how to access hotel and therefore our room at 9:30 pm when we returned from visiting family and everything shut up.
Lack of ambience due to the lack of other customers.
Public areas looking tired.

Staff were super helpful and really friendly. Location by the sea, West Mersea was lovely and traditional. Beds were comfy and tea and coffee making facilities all good.
A little more attention to cleaning. Spiders webs around the blinds and not cleaned and dusted into corners.
Hubby's breakfast a bit dried out/overcooked.

Stunning views from balcony - could have sat there forever watching the world go by.
Potential bump in the road at breakfast quickly defused by the lovely part time blonde lady. Master should learn from the pupil. Otherwise all good 🙂 Beware the full English is enormous!

just the absolute best location to enjoy the sea breeze and seafood
cleanliness was only at 90% but still worth the stay

A fantastic view of the harbour, and a sunset (if it was not cloudy lol). A very clean and large shower/bathroom A brilliant location: Just a few minutes walk to the old village, and 10-15 minute walk to the shops. Fantastic food.
We got there very early and parked in the car park, which gets VERY busy, but the vehicles come and go throughout the day. Mostly busy between 1200-1500, and then 1700-2000. You will get a space, but take note it is busy.
Had the Full English when we got there, it was very well cooked, great portions, and proper tasty. The next morning we had Eggs Benedict, which was absolutely scrumptious! I could definitely eat their breakfasts every morning! The staff were so friendly and polite. Very happy to serve you. A great selection of beers at the bar, whether you like lager, or proper beer :)
The play area at the back for kids was large, and looked so much fun! Alas, the wife would not let me play on it though :(

The room was beautifully prepared, with exceptional bedlinen, tea tray well organised (and you could fetch more of what you needed down the corridor. Hanging, drawers and bedside table great. View from balcony (shared) lovely, especially at sunset. Room was well- aired. Parking good. Staff very friendly.
No one came to service our room at all! We would have expected the bed to be made, the bin emptied AND THE TEACUPS RENEWED daily. Downstairs staff were lovely, but spent too much time chatting. Breakfast had problems with delay - and other people were complaining. The staff were lovely, but didn't seem to understand what work meant.

Wonderful location. Opposite a beautiful beach where we could walk for miles. The room was perfect with a balcony overlooking the marina, we were treated to a fabulous sunset too. The balcony was well worth the extra cost. The breakfast was lovely too. The check in staff were very welcoming and friendly.

large shower, comfy bed. you could see money had been spent upstairs in the rooms

Clean room, well presented, lovely breakfast.
Had booked a Superior Room but it wasn't available for our stay and so the Hotel gave us another room and didn't charge us for our stay. Very impressed as they phoned, gave us plenty of notice and honoured their offer of free accommodation. Service was excellent.

A few things in the room were needing attention.. eg wobbly shelf with tea and coffee stuff on .. our kettle didn’t work but was immediately replaced so no issue, responsive staff. loved having the balcony even in the freezing feb winds! super breakfast. great value for money.
we were told when the kitchen closed so made it down in time to order a meal but were then told that the kitchen had closed! so this was a bit confusing. luckily we weren’t too hungry and just had bar snacks..

Very good breakfast, good choice and generous portions.
Room rather small, although bathroom size fine. Shared balcony.
4.1
Views.
Tv didn't work properly. Lack of usb points. No car charging facilities. For a alleged hotel ending dinner orders at 6.30 is far too early. That's still tea time.
