Nice and spacious and can house many people as listed. The amenities were working as listed. There was enough space in front for all the cars (our group had 7 cars) to park comfortably. They had a nice big TV and entertainment to use in the living room. The backyard is a nice place to hang out with people because it was large. However, we found an active wasp nest which was right next to the kitchen's back door. One of the kids on our trip got stung twice by wasps in the backyard. The entire cabin was really dirty and filled with cobwebs and bugs, both dead and alive, in most corners of the property. When we arrived, the house smelled incredibly dusty especially in the rooms with skylights. The dust also makes it hard to sleep. We wiped the kitchen counter and it was still dirty. Sleeping can be uncomfortable, if you take a room close to the AC unit as it is very loud. The house has a few architectural faults; There are unfinished interior finishes scattered around the house i.e. doors that lack a trim which exposes the studs and insulation, the small bar area being unfinished. Another major problem was the fact that most windows do not open. This was a big problem because passive cooling was the main form of climate control for the house however was denied from us. We also had an electrical issue in the Kitchen. The circuit for the Refrigerator, Microwave, a new AC Unit (which was nice), and Stove popped a couple of times. The first time we had a rice cooker also plugged into the same circuit, but we moved that to a different working outlet and the circuit still popped. Overall it was a nice location to spend vacation for large groups, just bring your own sheets and swifter dusters.

I just got home and I'm already missing being up their in the mountains. The house is clean with enough beds and space for everyone in your family. The owner is super attentive and very good at answering phone calls and questions, no matter how many times you call him lol I will definitely be staying here again with my family 😊

Overall we were pretty happy with the property. A ton of space and bedrooms available. It was as advertised on the listing. There were a few things broken like the blown out speakers and water heating issues, but Mike was quick to try and fix those issues and work it out. Would love to book this spot again once the issues have been fixed.

Group of Stanford students went to this property for their snow trip and had a good time.

The house was exactly what we needed as it housed 15 of us with room to spare. Everyone had their own space. Everyone agreed the place was more beautiful then the pictures display. Kitchen has recently been upgraded and was perfect. Mike the owner was very easy to work with and accommodated us very well. I will be back! Thank you Mike - It truly was a great week in NoCal thanks to your house.

Booking was kind of confusing, even though there was a $ amount refundable deposit, it was not the case. We got an extra day with that money instead. Very spacious and lots of beds. Minor issues like, only 3 burners worked for the cooktop; no toaster; not enough cooking vessels or containers. The house is very secluded so we could party till midnight. We loved the stay.

This is the fifth year we have rented this house for our annual non profit business meeting and retreat. It has enough separate beds to accommodate 7 adults sleeping alone and twice that for couples. We're a dog breed rescue and always have a few to bring along. The back yard fencing has a wide opening which we close by using exercise pens and bungee cords. The kitchen is big enough for 2-3 cooks not to bump into each other. The appliances were all in working order. The owner was easy to work with and wants to provide a satisfactory customer service experience. If you're not looking for fancy, this place may suit you! We always enjoy the nearby "Monte Vista Inn" for Saturday dinner. Always delicious. We're planning on coming back again in 2017 due to this place meeting our needs.

I stayed here during June 2015 with about 15 other friends. The house was absolutely perfect for us! It had plenty of room, was nice and secluded (which for us was necessary because we got a bit roudy!), and had a beautiful outdoor area. I highly recommend this house to anyone with a big group! I also want to thank Michael for being so friendly and accommodating! Overall a great experience!

We just completed a wonderful summer Family Reunion vacation at Hundred Acre Wood in Dutch Flat. Kudos to Mike for putting together a wonderful, beautiful, functional and enjoyable property for us to stay at. DUTCH FLAT The property is in the woods, well removed from other homes and people. There is a rail line close by the property. You could hear trains frequently during the day. This was not an issue for my group. Dutch Flat is roughly halfway between Sacramento and Truckee. The home is very easy to find. and access to I-80 is less than 5 minutes away. Truckee, Squaw Valley and Lake Tahoe are 45-75 minutes away (depending on traffic). Colfax is 15 minutes "down hill" with a reasonable market and a number of fast food dining options. We found little to see in Dutch Flat itself, but probably did not give it a fair amount of exploration. Colfax had more to see. Auburn (15 miles past Colfax) has even more options. Bear River Campground is along the Bear River, outside of town. This was our place to try gold panning. (Day use area, with parking, just past the Campground). No, we didn't find any nuggets, but the river location itself is very scenic, quiet and peaceful. Go to Mountain Man Mining in downtown Colfax for panning eqpt. and directions. HUNDREAD ACRE WOOD Five different family groups came together at Dutch Flat, Ages 8 to 80+. And, a great time was had by all. Great sleeping arrangements. Just about every bed had a pullout trundle bed mattress for extra sleeping room. And the living room couches all easily converted to futon mattresses. Kitchen arrangements were excellent. Comfortable for two cooks to operate in at a time. Well stocked. We used the BBQ several times. The Hot Tub was also used several times, and just sitting outside on a warm summer evening was very nice. It is obvious that Mike is investing time, money and energy to make Dutch Flat into a wonderful extended family or group retreat. We know from experience that this is hard work. Mike gets it, and we are happy to give him, and Dutch Flat our strongest possible recommendation. We look forward to planning next year's family reunion. Dutch Flat, and Hundred Acre Wood, we hope to see you again in Summer 2015! ...Tim

Great property with abundant room for 12 adults and 10 kids. The kids enjoyed biking around the driveway, the rope swing, hiking around the property. Very relaxing, and Mike was friendly and easy to work with. Highly recommended.

Everything was great! Mike was really helpful and always easy to get in contact with. Booking was super easy. The property was well maintained and clean upon arrival. It was pretty easy to get to and was really close to freeway access. There were other places within 15min to go to. We went to our normal snow spot at Squaw Valley which was an hour away but it was no problem driving there. There were other places for snow play closer, we just choose to go to Squaw. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends.

We have stayed here twice now and absolutely love it! We do an annual snowboard trip with about 15 people and this house is perfect. Beds for everyone and lots of space. Backyard is huge and fun to go exploring in. Very secluded area but is not far from the main road. Really easy to get on and off the highway. Right off the exit there is a gas station and a pretty well stocked convenience store. We did most of our main shopping in Auburn which isn't far. Enough parking for our 5 SUVs in the driveway. Kitchen is big enough for multiple people to cook and there is also a built in BBQ in the back. Can't find a single thing we don't like about this place! And the owner Mike is a super cool guy! A nice, semi-secluded area where people can come up to kick back and relax. A nice layout with a large common area where people can just hang out and a large outdoor area as well. Nice for both summer and winter as it is at a high enough elevation to combat hot summers and not past the area where chains are a concern. For winters, there are also multiple fireplaces to keep everyone feeling comfortable. All in all a great place for people who just want to have an extended, laid back party.

Wonderful place to bring friends and family. Lots to do nearby (lake-boating, water skiing, picnic area; mountains-skiing, sledding, playing in the snow). The hot tub was relaxing and peaceful. Wonderful to disconnect from everything. Beautiful views of the trees, nature, plant life and animals. Awesome place to take pictures, take a scenic hike and unwind. Lots of able space, great hospitality, linens, cookware, wi-fi provided. Tree swing for the kids and room to explore. Multiple fireplaces for ambiance and relaxation. All you need to do is bring food, movies, games and people for a great weekend.

Awesome place in a great location. Got a great deal for a Halloween party. Have also stayed at owner's Truckee house a few times.

Volunteers for our non profit dog rescue (Shetland Sheepdogs) spent an enjoyable three day weekend with our well behaved Shelties for our annual meeting. The property is indeed private. The house had enough beds so no one had to share except for the one married couple. The furnishings were unpretentious and practical. The futons in the living room were hard to sit on due to the seats being very deep but we raided the cupboards for extra pillows to make the furniture more comfortable to sit on. We brought sheets to cover the furniture with and exercise pens to secure the back area so the the dogs could go outside off leash. The kitchen was stocked with basics and was large enough to accommodate 2-3 cooks at a time. We had both a productive two day meeting and had fun too. We plan on coming back next year!
