Learning to live in the mountains again, never leave anything food wise on the counter tops, unless you like the taste of ants. The backyard is a little scary for older folks, no rails on the stair welds, the cabin needs some real attention to the yard, the driveway is very tight for a wide vehicle. My partner cleans vacation rentals here in the desert, so he did a good job on the cabin before we left washed all the laundry, dusted the wood floors cleaned the kitchen and bathroom. He's a neat freak, the dogs did love the backyard and chasing the gray squirrels out of their yard. And the nice thing is the cabin is only a 5-minute drive to the heart of town. As a retired Chef the one disappointing thing to find out about our trip, no one knows how to do food costing as dining out there is expensive, and fast foods are as much or more than restaurants, but we did find where the locals go, and the food was better, and cheaper. Use your smart phone as we did, and it was right on the money for finding places. Jay the manager was an immense help when we got there. I might suggest a better bedroom arrangement, a futon sofa that makes into a bed would be far better, and make more room in the living area, move the love seat over under the window by the door. And next time we will bring our inflatable queen size bed. I will say it is peaceful there, so quiet I could sleep, no sirens, or yamagouchy motorbikes going by at a thousand miles an hour. Birds and butterflies and rest!

We personally would prefer staying at a larger unit next time.

Everything was tip top

The cabin is small, but very functional. It is perfect for 1-2 adults. It is totally pet friendly. Our little dog loved running around the backyard, which was a great since we live in a high rise. The neighborhood is quiet and just a few minutes away from town with all of the restaurants. Jay was always very responsive from the moment we booked. Great stay!

This studio cabin in Idyllwild was wonderful and dog friendly. It was spotlessly clean and very cozy. The yard was secure and private. Our dogs loved it and so did we. Very close to town and many hikes. The neighborhood is quiet and great for dog walking. We loved the owner and he was so accommodating to our needs. We will be renting again!

The place was perfect for my husband and our fur baby. It was clean and cozy. Had everything we needed. Coming back up for a wedding and we are hoping to stay here again.

I greatly enjoyed my time at the cabin. My service dog loved exploring the fenced backyard! It was a quiet space perfect for relaxing, not too far from the village center. The kitchen was larger than I anticipated and well-appointed with appliances and cookware. Would definitely stay again if I’m in the area.

Spent our anniversary at this super charming and cozy little cabin. It was absolutely perfect! Wonderful kitchen with all amenities that over looks the large backyard that was full of bird feeders and the deck was perfect for watching all the birds. Perfect size for two people. Memory foam bed was really comfy too. Towel warmer in the bathroom was a nice touch and a welcome addition in the colder winter months. Hope to be able to come back here very soon. Really enjoyed our stay here. House is located in a very peaceful (hence the name?) quiet neighborhood. Backyard was perfect for our dogs with lots of room and a tall fence, very private. It is a short driving distance into the village of Idylwild. This place is perfect for 1 or 2 people.

The place was great, especially the enclosed space for our 16-week Boxer puppy. It’s like one giant safe and fun backyard for our pup to enjoy and just be a pup. The cabin was clean and cozy; it had everything I needed to be able to make a great dinner on the first night as it was a Thursday and most of the restaurants in the town center closed @ 9 pm. The bed was very comfortable as well as all the other amenities, there’s even a wood-burning fireplace which would be great on snowy nights. The cabin is perfectly located near the town center, which is a total plus. Jay, the owner and host, was great and he provided great communication and suggestions around town throughout our trip - before and during our stay. He was the perfect host in every way. This was our first trip to Idyllwild and Jay made the stay so much more special. I highly recommend this gem in Idyllwild, especially if you are a dog owner. Just an FYI, Idyllwild gets much busier on the weekend (Fri-Sun) than during the weekday (Mon-Thurs), at least that was true for us. Lots to do and see - must-visits are the Idyllwild Brewpub, Amelia’s Donut, the Cigar Box, and Mama’s Egg House. Again, a huge thank you to our host Jay!

The cabin has everything you could want in a getaway. Knotty pine ceilings and walls, a comfortable bed, fireplace, rocking chairs, a kitchen flanked by lovely windows to watch the wildlife and a towel warmer for the chiller nights when you step from the shower. Best of all is the fenced backyard for your beloved traveling animal companion. Jay's hospitality is warm and welcoming. Prior to arrival, he emails links to all the events in town accompanied by a list of places to hike and a list of local restaurants. I've stayed in places all over the United States and across the pond in Oxford. This cute cabin, and Jay are superb. This Oregonian and her Boxer will return for certain. Linda & Sugar

My dog and I adore this charming retreat in the pines. As long as my pup can continue going up and down the few steps in the back, we will return for sure! Jay is a fantastic host, and the simplicity and rustic charm of the cabin is such a find, with the privacy of 6' fencing and dog-safe squirrel and bird activity in the spacious, tree-dappled backyard. My favorite vacation spot!

The cabin is great for a couple and a pet. The cabin is filled with mountain decor and has both a wood-burning stove and an air conditioning unit to make you comfortable any time of the year. It is close to town and not far Idyllwild Regional Park and a small dog park to allow your dog to get out even more.

I loved this place. My daughter and I went there for my birthday weekend. The backyard, the location, the heating system, the coziness, and the price were excellent. It will be my go-to place from now on.

The cabin is beautiful inside and out. Lots of thoughtful items were included such as dog bowls, a basket of food goodies, a towel warmer, bird feeders, chopped wood and more. Jay was an excellent host in sending us updates as to possible road closures due to snow, giving us tips on where to visit while in town, and bringing us a new lighter when we needed it for the wood stove. He was very responsive and friendly. Our dog loved it there and made himself at home instantly.
