Yamanakako is a very small and sleepy town. It’s fit for travelers that are looking to escape city sounds and immerse in the woods. Teiensaryo was a very pleasant stay with incredible food. The place is family run by three generations. It’s also a 5 minute walk from the bus terminal and lake. The host are very accommodating and will drop you off wherever you need to get you to your next destination.
The interiors are old and you’ll find some creepy crawlers here and there - as you would in any stay deep in the woods. The space could use a deep clean.

The family could not have done enough for us. We arrived an hour early and they checked us in. As we were only staying one night, they wanted to make sure we experienced everything. Firstly they drove us to 3 view points of Mt Fuji, gave us specific local recommendations and ensured we enjoyed the on sight facilities. Thank you very much!
No dislikes. Very happy and friendly. Wish we could of done something back for them.

The complimentary breakfast was brilliant, felt like I was royalty. Easy access they had ample parking, and there are only a few units in the whole inn, the owners are very friendly even though there was sort of a language barrier haha
There's a public bath on the first floor which is really cool, but it's a pity that there isn't a shower of sorts in the room itself, it would make things alot more convenient.

Loved the service as they offered to drive us to a sightseeing spot, dinner and back home for free. They gave us a big traditional breakfast and fish food to feed the koi fish in the pond and showed us photos of what the garden looks like in each season. We felt very looked after and recommend for anyone wanting a traditional Japanese stay.

lovely homestay and very kind and helpful family running it. The host drove us to a stunning viewpoint for sunrise over mt Fuji which was the highlight of our trip! They made us feel very welcome and were keen to help us make the most of our stay. I would highly recommend to anyone!

The ryokan is located next to the high-speed bus station. Breakfast and dinner provided are very delicious, plentiful and well-cooked and presented. The hotel does not accept solo travelers and I was surprised that my booking included meals for two persons (which I have invited a friend to come along)
There is no hot water in the basin in the room. Tap water is cold and I have to walk down to the common bathroom for face washing and teeth brushing. More attention needs to be given to the cleanliness of the tables in the common bathrooms.

Owners treated us like family. The dinner and breakfast were amazing. The amount of time spent to make it, the variety and the amount was well worth the visit. Each room had their own assigned table in the dining room (dinner served at 6pm and breakfast at 8am). We asked about watching them feed their Koi fish, and instead let our children feed the Koi fish (though as the weather gets colder, they stated the Koi wouldn't be fed as much due to indigestion). Having only five rooms located on the 2nd floor and beautifully decorated garden gave the Ryokan an exclusive resort feeling. The two first come first serve hot spring baths can be locked off to make it private for a family. We accidentally left our one year olds milk bottle at the dinner table, and the staff cleaned and left it for us at our breakfast table. As we were departing the owner handed to us a bag full of ripe and delicious tangerines.
Their Credit card machine didn't accept our Chase Sapphire Visa Credit Card not our other Visa cards. The owner apologized for the inconvenience and we paid in cash the next morning after using the nearby convenience store's ATM. Booking.com's website didn't include the reduced price half board food options for children (5 & 4 year olds) nor the children's futon bedding prices. Rooms had an included toilet but no shower nor bath that wasn't part of the hot spring baths on the bottom floor.

The location was amazing, right near the lake. There also happened to be an autumn festival happening which was no more than 200 meters away!

The rooms where we stayed at were a lot more spacious than what I was expecting. Rooms were amazing, great view of nature too.
There was also free parking available for cars too.
Breakfast was amazing too.
Was at first hard to find the property by car with GPS because it’s not exactly attached to the main road
