Location is right beside the sea.
Unfortunately, I got disappointed with my experience. Hotel rated as 5 star... and it probably was like 10-15 years ago. Now it looks worn, I found chops and defects all around the room. Same about swimming pool.
Hotel located in front of the public beach. There no umbrellas for hotel guest's only in there.
Roof in one half of the children's playground was leaking during the rain.
It wasn't what I expected for the price I paid.

My experience at this hotel was amazing! The staff is highly professional, the food was delicious and the room was very spacious and clean! all the staff were on point. They were friendly and helpful, and most of them can speak English. One outstanding member of staff named ZARA ZHAO the front desk manager She greeted us upon arrival and made our stay comfortable and relaxing and helped me suggest some good places in the City to go.

Had the best stay at this hotel. Everything about it was great especially the buffet for both breakfast and dinner. Lots of options to choose from. The staff can speak English hence communication was really easy and they were all very nice.
The only annoying part was that there were swimming classes for kids in the morning so we couldn’t really enjoy the pool until after the classes at 12:30.

The view from the room was spectacular and the hotel is located right on the beach so great for heading out for a morning walk. You can rent little pedal vehicles from the hotel, which was fun to ride along the path by the beach. We got the package that allowed us to get snacks and food from a special guest area each day and also use a meeting room on one occasion- this was handy and the food was fine.
The level of English of some of the staff is not as high as other hotels we have stayed in, although we understand that we are in China so this is bound to happen at times. Ensure you have a good translation app ready to go.

The amazing view and quietness of our room. The lounge on the 23rd floor with a balcony and a stunning view. Pleasant smell everywhere and the closeness of the beach.
The price that went super high during the holiday - I can't believe that we paid so much for one night and the price is 2 times less when it's not a holiday time.

Loved the location and setup. Staff was excellent and upgraded us for free since we came during the week when they were less busy. Definitely recommend the Shangri-la for Qinhuangdao!
Not many vegan or vegetarian options in room service or the lounge.

The duty manager,Mr Lee, was very helpful and helped in many ways, from finding Lost baggage at the train station to organising a cake for my son's birthday. All staff was very friendly and polite. We are Happy for our great choice of staying in Shangrila.

Check in and out was smooth and quick, however upon check in more attention can be given to customers preference especially in terms of room choice as there is apparently more than one type and direction of a sea facing room. The hotel manageress Cathy was however very efficient and without hesitation very promptly assisted me with my room preferences. Angel and Ann Sun were so friendly, gracious and helpful at the restaurant /coffee shop and went out of their way to ensure that I was well taken care of. The authentic Indian chicken curry was a lovely surprise. The room was also spotlessly clean and the water temperature in the shower and bathtub was excellent. I think the most outstanding thing about this hotel is the sea view and balcony that affords hours of tranquility and relaxation.
The wash basin had a big crack in it and the I think the decor in the room, wall paper, furniture etc was a bit dated and overall needs some attention.

The location is perfect really, if you’re purely going there for the beach.
Around the hotel, there is not a lot of other restaurants or other shops.
* 3 star service in a 5 star building *
-Service charge on everything, when your service is rubbish! I don’t mind paying service charge, as long as there is a service, and it’s of 5 star quality. You do know you have to actually give a service for us to pay for it!!?? Sometimes the service was none existent!
- Charging ¥50 for the pool table, just make it free for heavens sake.
- The staff were not welcoming at all, really need to push your staff to welcome all guests. Just a simple “你好” or “Hello” would suffice, it isn’t hard.
- The check in was so long
- The buffet was not being replenished! I mean you charged me the same price as someone who ate at 6:30 (I ate at 7:30 and you were still charging people for the buffet at 8:30, so why wasn’t the pots being replenished? I would understand if I was late, but I wasn’t). For the price I paid for dinner, I expect to have some food on offer, not just scraps left at the bottom of the pot and then told, there is no more! C’mon! What was left, wasn’t really warm too! The cakes are clearly not freshly made for the dinner, the sponge in the cakes were hard and were clearly yesterday’s cakes. Also, don’t use the same spoon you use for durian ice cream that you do with chocolate! The taste of durian in the chocolate ice cream was horrible! I wouldn’t mind but I paid like nearly ¥400 for two people. It isn’t good enough for a 5 star hotel like Shangri-la. I would highly recommend getting a taxi and eating your dinner elsewhere!
- the room only had one chair on the balcony, it was a king size room. Don’t you think it would make sense to put two chairs on the balcony? Majority of the time, there will be two people staying.
-Wallpaper coming away from the wall in the bathroom and the a little bit grimy.
Just a rubbish service in a so call 5 star hotel!
It simply isn’t value for money!

The stay was according to the standards of Shangri-La hotels. The room was a standard room and clean.

Right over the sea. Fantastic view. High quality facilities. Great breakfast. Generally hits the 5 star mark and reaches Shangri La levels.
Too much plastic. Still using plastic bottles. Have slightly lowered score for this reason. Would give 9 if more eco friendly. High food wastage from their excellent buffet. Service not international level. Staff need to be asked for help and not very smiley about it. Not used to foreign preferences, eg providing spoons at breakfast and teaspoons for coffee.

The location was very good. Access to beach was available as soon as you walked out of the hotel. The bedsheets and towels were clean.
For a Shangri-la hotel and the price, we would have expected more. We booked two rooms for our children and ourselves. Both showers, bathroom in general were filthy. Thick black mold along the corners and hair stuck to the wall. As for the bathtub, we never even challenged to use it. The wallpaper is falling off and the beds were old and uncomfortable. The place needs renovation. Very disappointing. The staff at reception were standardly friendly, but nothing extra.

The perfect place to scape for a weekend of Beijing

Shangri-La was one of the only hotels not discriminating against foreigners, which we hugely appreciated. Very friendly staff that was very helpful. Big rooms with terrace and superb views. The beds were awesome, we slept like a baby!
Most facilities like the swimming pool and playground were closed for obvious reasons (covid-19), nothing to do about that. Breakfast was mostly served in plastic boxes. One of the rooms we got was packed with cigarette smoke, the other one had ashes and a cigarette butt on the floor in the bathroom. Very friendly staff immediately gave us other (upgraded) rooms on the 'non-smoking floor'. Unfortunately people were just smoking in their rooms with their doors open. The cleaning staff saw it happen but didn't act at all. Very sad for a hotel of this standing.
