Our group of one mom and 3 college-aged young people enjoyed our stay at this lush property - complete with a giant mango tree and peaceful deck with stunning Caribbean views and several lodging options depending on your group size. We especially enjoyed relaxing in the hammocks or pool overlooking the water.
We walked to two of the local restaurants for dinner on several occasions and we often enjoyed amazing breakfasts cooked with fresh eggs on the property and cantaloupe-sized mangos, both happily provided by Jose the ever attentive property manager. Both Jose and the resident cat-ambassador, Jack, made us feel safe and at home. Speaking of safety, the property is secured but a gait, important to us as it was our first trip to Roatan. We found the locals to be welcoming and we never questioned our safety. We elected to not rent a car an used transportation arranged by Jose whenever we needed it. If you are visiting Roatan, you are here for the water. We went out several times by boat to snorkel at some of the healthiest reefs we have ever seen. You will of course hit the more popular sites like the "aquarium" but I highly recommend less visited sites like Palmetto I took an amazing yoga class at Sun Yoga. And this location is right next to Anthony's Key resorts where we you can see happy dolphins performing or in training AND they are let out regularly, returning of their own free will! Can't say enough about the level of service that Jose provides, unsurpassed.

Our family of 9 with ages ranging from 19 to 75 stayed for the last week of June at Suzanne's piece of paradise. My SO and I stayed at the Temple Treehouse several years ago and loved it so much we wanted to share it with our family. We rented the entire property - Casa Cowee, Casita, and Temple Treehouse. All of the rooms were clean and comfortable and the group appreciated having lots of space to spread out. We especially loved time on the main deck at Casa Cowee and the upper pool where a beautiful sunset view could be enjoyed while sipping a cold drink and floating in the cool water. The kitchens are all well appointed, even for a group as large as ours, and the propane grill is great for cooking out. On nights when we chose not to cook, a 5 minute walk up the beach took us to a great beach bar and grill where they knew us by name by the end of the week. We took advantage of the snorkeling equipment several times and enjoyed exploring the reef off the dock right in front of the house. We also used the kayaks to explore the nearby shorlines.
Jose did an absolutely awesome job taking care of us during our stay. Without ever being intrusive he was always present when we needed his help, beginning with welcoming us on arrival and helping carry our bags and groceries up to the houses. He responded happily to our every request, no matter what it was. Mom especially loved walking the property with him and learning about all of the beautiful landscaping. Can't wait to return!!

I am not really able to give a comprehensive review because we didn’t even spend the first night there. We were run out by bugs inside Casa Cowee late in the evening after traveling all day. The host was very accusatory—I am not sure how I am responsible for this situation. Although it says no pets, there are 5 or 6 cats living there/food and water bowls by the front door. Although she had the place sprayed for bugs 3 weeks ago, bugs were everywhere inside the house. Even in the bed. I have photos. We looked forward to this trip for months, we had to vacate and wound up in a horrible place in West Bay for the duration of our trip.

We loved staying at this property. Everything was attended to by Jose. We ate fresh lobster, conch, pineapple and the vegetable truck came directly to the house upon request. Everyday we see kayaked, snorkeled, swam and enjoyed the sunset. An absolutely beautiful view caps off the perfect comfort and convenience of this place.

I booked this property on short notice and the host, Suzanne immediately responded to all my questions.
When we arrive we were greeted by Jose, the caretaker and he took our bags to the house showed us around. The house is a little older but it is warm and inviting and the new pool is perfect to cool off, the views were astounding! Jose arranged for a fishing/snorkel tour and we caught a black fin tuna and the boat crew made ceviche with it, absolutely delicious! All around wonderful mini vacation, I will be booking again in the near future!

My family of 5 ranging from age 3-75 stayed at Casa Cowee for a week in March. We had a great time! The place is wonderful, a rustic style yet super comfortable. The view can't be beat. You can see the dolphins frolicing at Anthony's Key, boats coming and going, and locals on the beach road and dock just below the house.
With that in mind, be aware that the beach is also a road and path and it's a local residential area, so there is some vehicle noise and we heard nearby residents playing loud music a couple nights. It wasn't super disruptive but if you're looking for that "deserted beach" feel this isn't quite it.
Don't let that discourage you though! The patio is SOOOO pleasant and the swimming pool was perfect, especially for our kids who loved it. And because it's right on the deck they could play and be supervised easily.
Jose, the property caretaker, is just lovely and will come help with anything you need at any time. The property managers Shannin and Kimberlee were also very helpful and kind when we met them.
The "casita" is a studio unit under the master bedroom of the main house. It has totally separate entrances if desired but since we were using both units our mom was able to come directly up in the morning and join us for breakfast without walking around. There is also another unit (the Treehouse) on the same property that shares a common grill and pathway.
Overall, I highly recommend a stay at Casa Cowee!

We had an issue with the first rental we reserved and found the "Tranquil One Acre" otherwise known as Casa Cowee in time for our vacation.
First of all Suzanne Boyce, the owner, is an absolutely wonderful communicator. She responded to all my questions quickly and clearly. We met her on our first day there and she is really sweet. We also met the property Manager Channin Bodden and his wife Kimberley when we arrived and they too are exceptionally nice and fun people. We booked a tour of the island with Channin and he gave us more than our money's worth. Very Informative.
Jose is the caretaker who lives in a separate house on the property. I downloaded Whatsapp and it was great to communicate with Jose and Channin, and Jose was extremely prompt and helpful with our requests.
The property is not new and shiny like a fancy hotel, but it has character and atmosphere that was hard to beat. We spent a lot of time on the covered deck, enjoying the cool breezes, the view of the Dolphin shows and awesome sunsets. The deck offers almost a 180 degree vista of the ocean, and is a very special place.
Just a short walk down the beach (3 minutes), is the Blue Bahia Beach Grill. So good that we ate there three times and loved the live music on Thursday and Sunday. Try the Jerk Fish Sandwich YUM! Sea Bass done just right with a slice of grilled pineapple on top. Not a combination I expected to like, but I LOVED it. We had a great time.

We stayed at the Casa for a week and loved it! The house has incredible views of the ocean throughout! The kitchen was a main gathering place (2nd to the main deck) and was well-equipped! The house is so unique, beautifully decorated, + very comfortable. There was always a breeze + it was so nice to breathe in fresh air 24/7! The grounds are gorgeous with foliage that made it feel like paradise! The new private pool was a nice feature as well! Felt at home the whole time!
We loved the snorkeling - both out front of the casa as well as an excursion over towards the West Bay. We took the kayaks out and it was nice to have access to those at our whim.
Suzanne was a nice host! Jose was available to help with anything we needed + shared eggs from his chickens! Channin was helpful, drove us everywhere + had great recommendations. Both quickly felt like family friends!
We stopped at Eldon's on the way from the airport, which has just about anything you would want. There is also a market that's walkable from the casa. We walked to several great restaurants down the beach + walked over to the Carambola Gardens across the main road, where we hiked a jungle trail to the top of the mountain for a nice view of the bay!
There is traffic on the beach as it serves as a road, which was a little unexpected, but we got used to the sporadic noise from scooters. Folks around the area are very polite + we felt safe. Views, snorkeling, + atmosphere were spectacular! We hope to return!

Suzanne’s place was definitely a place to relax and rejuvenate! It reminds me of an updated Swiss Family Robinson’s Tree House. The property is amazing, clean and has everything you need to feel at home.
Jose is great! He helped us with everything from luggage to taking us to the best snorkel spot.
We loved being surrounded by the local people. They are very sweet spirited and greet you with a smile and friendly ‘holla! Suzanne is very fond of the people and they of her.
BONUS - from the gazebo you can watch the dolphins play in their sanctuary next door. You can also kayak or swim from the beach to their pen and see them up close.
We can’t wait to go back to Casa Cowee bring other friends and family. Next time we plan a longer stay😍

This was a trip with my grown children and their +1. The property is one in a million, everything we could ask for plus. I think our kids appreciated it more once we took a drive down to West Bay and West End. The location is peaceful, safe and cared for. We loved our time at the house, swimming off the dock and snorkeling at our leisure. The view is beautiful and so relaxing not being in the heart of all the tourist chaos. Suzanne (the owner) has classic taste, the house is well appointed and cared after. Jose, the caretaker is conscious and attentive. He knew our coming and going and was always there to greet us. We did have a fair amount of rain, but it didn't matter as we could all catch up on sleeping in!
Suzanne, thank you for sharing your home and Jose, thank you for making our trip memorable! All the best in 2024!

Casa Cowee is truly a special place! My wife and I, and our two children (ages 11 and 12) stayed for 12 days in the beginning of June - and it was a trip of a lifetime. We are avid snorkelers - and the snorkeling on Roatan is amazing - but the best part is some of the best reef is directly in front of the property and accessible from the pier. Moreover, there are other nearby reef sections perfect for snorkeling that you can get to by Kayak. Night Snorkeling from this area is amazing as well - too many octopus to count!
The property itself is amazing if you are not looking to be in town. We felt like we were living in the middle of the jungle (because we were) and loved every part of it. But I cannot go any further without saying how perfect it is to have JOSE on the property. He was awesome, and our family grew close to him over the short time we were there - he was there to assist with anything and everything - and made us feel really secure and like nothing could go wrong. Super nice gentlemen, and Jose absolutely made our stay at Casa Cowee that much more special.
The location is great as well - 10-15 minutes to West End if you want to go that way - but there are 3 great restaurants within walking distance as well. THe restaurant at Anthony's Key was top notch (food, staff, everything) - and Blue Bahia had a perfect small diving hotel/restaurant vibe to it. The owners were great - and we spent hours there hanging out as well.

We were a group of 6 adult family members. Most everything about Casa Cowee perfect. Jose and Channin are awesome and were available to help us with anything we needed. The snorkeling is fantastic all over out front, especially along the side of dolphin pen on side closest to house. It was very very hard leaving today.

My family and friends (in shifts) spent a wonderful 4 week vacation at Casa Cowee! The location in Sandy Bay is superb and if you like snorkeling, you'll really love this location. Snorkeling right out in front (especially if you cross over the reef) is some of the best I've done in a while. Kayaks for 4 people were an added bonus. If you get tired of the ocean there is a great little pool tucked away at the back where you can relax and read a book or take a refreshing dip. Some great restaurants down the beach; our favourite was Sunken Fish...try the Chickpea Curry! We bought most of our fresh fruit and veggies a two minute walk down the road at a local stand.(a few words of Spanish would be helpful but not essential) Jose (Suzanne's right hand man) arranged for some fresh fish for us and was always available to help us with whatever we needed. He is amazing and we enjoyed seeing his smiling face every day! Suzanne is lovely and was also available to help with anything we needed.
There are some local dogs that bark at night and a rooster that starts crowing at 3:00 so a good set of earplugs would come in handy! Other than that, I highly recommend Casa Cowee and am sure your holiday will be a magical one that you will not forget anytime soon !

My family and I just returned from our stay at Casa Cowee on Sandy Bay in Roatan. In our group was my family of four including two little boys (5 & 10) and my sister and her boyfriend. Our parents were also staying on the island at another location but spent most of their days at our place.
The house was amazing! So unique and beautiful with fantastic proximity to the ocean. The layout was perfect for our group, a master bedroom and loft for us and then a separate apartment attached for my sister.
During the day it would occasionally get a bit warm in the houses however the air flow was great and the ocean breezes quickly cooled you down, especially by the afternoon/evening.
We were in a great location with easy access to West Bay but had everything we needed right there including a fantastic snorkeling spot. You could even sit on your deck (or dock) and watch the dolphins at neighboring Anthony’s Key.
We had access to several restaurant options. Our favorite was the Sunken Fish just down the beach. We probably went there 5 times between breakfast, lunch and dinners.
I’d definitely recommend booking an excursion with Channin and Jose. We went snorkeling our last full day with them and wish we’d had more time to do more in other locations.
Jose was fantastic. He was available for anything we needed, whether to help us find fresh coconuts, drag our kayaks to the beach, help with groceries, etc.
We were all in love with this island by the end of our trip.
4.0 / 5.0
Overall the property is lovely. Tastefully decorated with amazing views and a fairly secure location. The owner, Suzanne was staying in a separate house on the property and was typically available to answer any questions we had.
Jose, the onsite handyman seemed like he went out of his way to get us anything we needed while we were there. We had access to two restaurants nearby on the beach which were OK for a bite, a cold beer and some people watching. Since we cooked most of our meals at the house, we didn't spend much time out. On another note, the house has pretty much anything you could think of for cooking. something that hasn't always been the case when we've rented at other properties.
The house has louvers on all of the major windows allowing the breeze to come in and through the rooms. We originally thought that we wouldn't need to use the AC (only in the master bedroom) but after the first night we felt sticky and hot and started using it to sleep. Being from Texas we live in an AC controlled environment most of the time. I felt a little sad for our teen who slept in the loft in the main part of the house with no AC but he was mostly OK. We did get quite a few bites from mosquitos and/or noseeums both inside and out.
I love to snorkel and found the proximity to the reef a definite bonus. There is a well travelled boat lane going through the area you have to swim across so it's best to stay aware. Jose offered us a floating indicator to help boats see us while snorkling but we didnt feel the need to use it.
The only personal negatives I found had to do with the location. While the area and views are lovely, the house sits above a "public" beach area with a fair amount of traffic. ATV tours, horseback riding, and locals move across the beach below the house and can get quite noisy at times making it tough to relax. Nearly every evening the dock outside the house was visited by not so quiet children from the neighborhood. We also experienced the New Year's fireworks celebration in the local village which made it tough to sleep. I think the kids were out of school for the month of January so this could be less of an issue when they go back; same with the fireworks which I suspect are mostly going off on New Years. We could have moved off to the pool area but it was cold due to the recent rains and tucked back away from the views, kinda neat but we never swan in it while there. Enjoyed the trip and will be back to Roatan.

We just spent a week over Christmas at the property - me, my husband, my parents, and our 4 year old son. We loved our stay. The house is so interesting and beautifully crafted. My parents loved having their own small “apartment” that have them some privacy. The house was clean, spacious, comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook, which we did most nights with the inexpensive and readily available fresh seafood. The deck area overlooking the ocean and facing the sunsets cannot be beat, oh how I miss those evenings watching the sun go down over the ocean! As others have mentioned, Jose and Channin were so helpful and lovely to interact with. Jose helped us pull the kayaks to the beach and we would kayak in front of the property, snorkeling along the reef that stretches in front of the property and as far down as you can see. We did two snorkeling trips with Channin that were awesome, and my husband also did an early morning fishing trip in our last day. We also dove with blue Bahia dive shop which was a quick walk down the beach (and who also has delicious food).
We were lucky enough to get to meet Suzanne the property owner also, who was In town during our stay. All in all, it was a wonderful week and the beautiful property was the best place to go back to after a day of exploring. we hope to return!

Amazing property
This property is beautiful, the grounds are amazing. Truly magical. The lodgings are a little more rustic, but we loved the adventure in it. The deck overlooking the ocean with the hammocks was our favorite spot. Jose, Channin and Kimberly really made our week enjoyable, relaxing and perfect. We definitely be back.

Month of bliss at Casa Cowee (Apr 2-30)
We were celebrating our retirements and each week brought new family/friends to the island to share in our celebration.
We found Casa Cowee an AMAZING property as did all of our guests!! We enjoyed being able to snorkel in the bay in front of the property. The views from the front deck are priceless. Blue brain is a thing, and it is most relaxing to lie in the hammocks and just gaze out over the sea. The bay was busy with water taxis going to and from the dolphins next door. (The dolphins!! so fun to watch on a daily basis!) Cruise ships coming and going in the distance, the sounds of the local kids/families enjoying the pier in front of the house. (Kids are the same every where in the world, some have more than others but as a kid all you want to do is have fun.)
Jose was available to provide whatever we needed throughout our stay. He shared fresh limes, mangos, bananas, and eggs from the property. YUM!! Such a gracious kid. He keeps the property neat and tidy for the guests and that is very much appreciated.
The pool was a blessing and so much fun! When the day began heating up and we had no plans to explore other parts of the island, we headed to the pool for conversation and cocktails.
We cooked many meals in the fully furnished kitchen but when we wanted to go out, we had three restaurants within a short walk: the Bahia, Tranquil Seas, and Anthony’s Key. All with delicious food, drink, and great camaraderie with the local staff. Also, the BEST key lime pie and lunches at the car wash, which is just a short walk away—don’t forget to stop there!
We had a couple massages with our guests at Spa Baan Suerte which is located a short distance behind Casa Cowee. Very wonderful people and equally wonderful service!
We packed in an amazing amount of adventure. We visited West Bay, West End, the Rum Factory, an island tour, and a sunset cruise complete with snorkeling all with the help of Channin’s excursions. We also had a fun afternoon at the Guava Grove Swim up-bar with Suzanne!
It was fun to venture out and see the different sights and people of the island, but nothing was better than kicking back and enjoying Casa Cowee and the fantastic property and views that it offered. To lie in bed at night and hear the ocean breaking at the reef and hear the sounds of the island rather than being in a sealed air-conditioned resort room was wonderful. Such an experience!
Thank you, Jose, Fabi, Channin, and Suzanne!! We would definitely go back!!

Amazing rental
We had a wonderful week at Casa Cowee in Sandy Bay. The directions were very clear to get to the house. Suzanne was very prompt with her communication. Jose was extremely helpful with any questions we had. The snorkeling out front of the house was spectacular. I would definitely recommend this property. My only comment is the house could use a couple more railings if you have very young children, but we all survived just fine :)

Total Relaxation and Enjoyment
We have stayed at Casa Cowee before and just had to come back to this wonderful quirky home! Casa Cowee is an older unique wood structure with the most magnificent covered porch that has unobstructed views of Sandy Bay. Waking up and having coffee on the porch was a dream. All shades of sparkling blues and turquoise everywhere. The location is ideal for getting away from the chaos. Two casual restaurants are a very short walk down the beach. We would get up, have coffee and use the kayaks to snorkel the reef in front of the house. Shallow water, abundant fish and colorful coral. The younger dolphins are brought to the bay daily for training. We were fortunate to be in the kayak on several occasions to see this up close. What a treat! Back to the house for a light lunch and reading in the hammock. In the afternoons we would head to the plunge pool for a cool off. Sunsets on the porch, right in front of you! Delightful. The transportation to/ from the airport and runs to the store/ dinner in west end were handled by Channin and his wife Kimberly in a clean, upkept van. Always friendly, kind and extremely informative about the area. He was always checking in on us. He also arranged 3 private snorkel boat trips... definitely a must! We never felt like we didn't have a car! Jose is on the property for any needs we had! He was always available and checked in frequently! When we were at the pool, he would bring fresh coconut water, what a treat! He maintains the property and everyday he could be found gardening the oasis and tidying the leaves dropped by the breezes. The property is immaculate, flowers plentiful. His attention to our needs made us want to adopt him. Always available, always checking on us, while being as unobtrusive as possible. WiFi is spotty, but that's Roatan. Gave it 4 stars for location/neighborhood only because the dock gets crowded with kids when school is out and they are very loud. We would just go to the pool and they would be gone when we returned. Nothing can be done about that situation. Covid testing for return to the states was right next door at Anthonys Key, same day results and inexpensive. If you want a modern luxury condo, Casa Cowee is not for you but if you want activities at your doorstep, comfort and a casual beach vibe this is the place! Thank you Suzanne for having us back! Thank you Channin and Jose for all your care. Will see you again soon!

Roatan during slow times
Great trip, Suzanne the property owner was a joy to work with. Property is well cared for. This trip was everything i was looking for.
We stayed two weeks. Jan 15- Jan 31 2021.
What else can i say, fishing, scuba diving, snorkling and sitting on the deck watching the waves crash on the reef. Mix that with good food an coctails! Great time.

What a dream at Casa Cowee!
There were 3 couples that Suzanne booked for 10 days. Even being in Rainy season and two large storms that passed close and took out 4 days of sun but during those days we dove so did not miss a beat and several local restaurants and bars at the beach. We were covid careful for the Casa Cowee staff (who were more than wonderful) we felt safe! Loved the pool almost everyday. Didn’t go out much as we felt greatful just to get there. For a break! Lots to do on your own safely. A definite must on a return so we can experience more of this stunning island.
Thanks Suzanne, Jose and Channin and Kim. Great fishing trip! Channin, Yellowfin Tuna and 2 huge Mahi Mahi .
Still dreaming we are there! See you soon!

This is been the 4th year we have been renting this property and it’s still as spectacular as the first year!! The owner Suzanne has been continually making the property more beautiful with plants and flowers and a brand new plunge pool, it’s like a little oasis in paradise. We will be back again next year 👍👍

All I can say is WOW! We have always stayed at all inclusive properties. What a waste.
Casa Cowee is the ultimate on Roatan. The views are stunning! Sunsets you don’t have to pay for! You just walk out the door!!! You don’t have to walk 15 minutes to a dock. We had a hard time deciding which deck we wanted to sit on During the day and the new pool with relaxing fountain. The pool is. Like a quiet oasis. I read two books. Had lots of fun down the beach at restaurants. Snorkeling in the very healthy reef out front we did daily with their kayaks. We also did a snorkeling tour with Channin Bodden the property manager picked up on our dock. Jose, the property care taker took care of everything for us24/7. Very impressed.

Wonderful sunsets
We really enjoyed our stay at Suzannes place.
Pros- Great views from the deck, close proximity to fabulous snorkeling, fishing. Jose was super attentive and was always available with the kayaks. He is a real treasure. House well equipped with all your needs for cooking and sleeping. A couple of good restaurants within easy walking distance. Guava Grove fed us fresh fish one night! YUM!
Cons- take good earplugs .....dogs bark at night in the neighborhood. Yes, it is expected in Honduras......however, the neighbor who played loud thumping music all night was not expected. This was 3 out of 7 nights.
We really enjoyed our stay, Suzanne built a gate to keep dogs away from her property for us. Did the best she could. The building is dated , but in a comfy quirky way. The electrical could use a serious redo!

Stunning Property! Best ever holiday.
Just the right location for us. The property photos are nice but when you arrive on the property it is breathless. The first thing the kids hit was the brand new "cocktail pool" but it is much larger than that as all four kids could be in it and do all their tricks. When they finished the adults enjoyed just lounging on the in pool seats chatting and reading..
When we arrived on the main house deck the panorama of the green and light blue Caribbean watering a full 180 degrees was priceless. We have rented many houses before and would have to walk out on the dock to get such a view but what adds to the drama is the high position off the beach. Many amazing sunsets. It is nice just to lay in the hammocks after the kids went to bed and just daydream looking at the stars.
The days were full kayaking, fishing, snorkelling on the reef (right out front), cooking (excellent kitchen). Lunch down the beach and we found some great local fare close by. The kids could run free as locals. We could pretty well see everything they did from the big decks anyway.
Overall a very happy family time. Totally relaxed and after a few days we were dropping our devices and talking, eating together, playing games. The outside world almost forgotten.
We all agree we will be back to Casa Cowee very soon! Thanks to Jose for taking care of all our needs daily, managers Channing and Kim for a great island dinner and Channin took us snorkelling and fishing in his boat (fun tour). Suzanne the owner for making us feel like we were home. (good communications)
Still dreaming,
Ellen and family

A third visit for us and we can not wait for the next one! Everything is perfect at Suzanne, the ideal location, close to a Dive shop if you are a diver, snorkling is perfect because it is just down the house.
The house is amazing with the sunset on the terrace. We fall in love from the first visit. And Josée is simply adorable, present and available with always a beautiful smile! It would be nice to put a ladder at the end of the dock so you can easily get out and get in the water, no?

Beautiful Quirky Home, Great Location
We spent a week at Casa Cowee and loved it! The home itself is simple, Quirky and extremely comfortable. I found myself saying over and over "I could live here". Suzanne was a fabulous communicator and we knew exactly what we needed when we arrived in Roatan. We used her suggested Channin Bodin Tours for everything from transport to/from the airport, store run, and multiple tours. He and his wife are extremely knowledgeable about the area and Channin knows just where to go snorkeling! Go to the wreck, an underwater paradise. Jose is on property and busy everyday maintaining the property. He is available to help and even gave me fresh mangos from the tree and coconut water direct from the source. We thank both Jose and Channin for their kindness and expertise! The dock is a problem as we could not access it much due to the amount of local kids using it. Unfortunately they can climb up it and use the platform for their jumping, diving and screaming. A plunge pool on the property would be perfect for those times that the dock is used. In front of the house on the beach is a well used sand road, but this minor inconvenience does not take away from the splendor of the homes location. Just be aware of these little tidbits. There are sand flies and mosquitos which Suzzanne gave us the heads up and we sprayed morning, noon and night. We even brought mosquito coils to help and had only a few bites. Bugs like this are wherever you go on Roatan. A short walk down the beach and you have 2 beach restaurants. Blue Bahia was our fav. Go for music night and of course their Lobster special day, you won't be disappointed. Service there was amazing and it's totally casual. Tranquil Seas was not one of our favs, service was almost nonexistent but the food was good. The home itself was perfect for a casual holiday. The king bed was so comfortable I slept the nights away, which I don't normally do. The kitchen is rustic looking but it has everything you would need and has a gas stove. A charcoal grill is on property and in great shape. Meals were easily prepared and we ate on the large outside deck with it's stunning view every day! We never spent much time in the house because the view/location was what we came for. I recommend renting the large home so you have the deck. Overall, a fabulous property and a plunge pool would have made it 5 star! You can't go wrong with renting here! Thank you Channin, Jose and Suzzanne! We will be back.

Loved Casa Cowee!
Absolutely loved this house & location - so charming & rustic! Decks are amazing with all the views of dolphins in Anthony’s cay, the boats, reef, beach, landscaping, activity & hummingbirds. Has to have the best views in all of Roatan. Suzanne, the owner, was staying in treetops casa & enjoyed our talks with her. Interesting history of house. Jose being on property was a great help! Beach Grill & sunken fish restaurants a short walk down beach. Beach grill makes a great monkey la la! Snorkeling out to reef was great but a bit of a challenge thru boat lane & distance. Dive operators will take snorkelers to reef sites. Our only wish would be for air conditioning in bedrooms- loft can get very hot & humid even with fans provided. We loved Casa Cowee & Sandy Bay Area! It was a fantastic week.

Above Excellent
Shared the property with my sister and her boyfriend for 7 weeks and had three other 10 day stays with friends and relatives. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the views, sunsets local activities so you can just swim or walk. Nice and relaxing and great BBQs and dinners on the sunset deck.
Snorkelling is the best everyone said. Several divers in the group who say they have never seen so many great sites.

Amazing Property and People
We just returned from a two week stay at Casa Cowee in Roatan and had an amazing time. We were four people (me, my wife and two sons). The house is beautiful and very well-kept. I would definitely return and stay for another two weeks as soon as I possibly can. We loved Jose, the gardener, and Channin and his wife Kimberley who picked us up at the airport, took us to the grocery store and just sort of took care of us the whole time we were there. We felt like we got to know all of them, and that made the trip even more enjoyable.
We went to Roatan for the nature and the snorkeling. We spent between 2 and 3 hours snorkeling every morning and the same every evening, for two weeks! We snorkeled almost exclusively in the bay right in front of Casa Cowee (only twice did we go somewhere else.)
We are pretty experienced snorkelers and I'm an advanced scuba diver. The snorkeling in the bay was incredible. Compared to many places we have snorkeled, Kauai, Bonaire, Cozumel, Australia, Turks and Caicos, etc, the snorkeling in Sandy Bay was easier and better. We are early 40s and in pretty good shape, but in many places with wave action and iron shore the hardest thing about the snorkeling is getting in the water and getting your fins on. Here there is sandy seafloor right in front of the house, so we just waded in the water until it was waist deep or so and put on our fins and went. I should point out that there is a boat lane in front of the house where water taxis pass by. We never felt nervous though. The water taxis pay very close attention to snorkelers and swimmers in this area because it is a popular place. It was about a ten minute swim to the reef. There are kayaks if desired, and Jose helped carry them down to the beach.
We saw eagle rays, huge sting rays, eels, octopus, and even a sea horse right next to the dock. The reef runs for about a mile in front of the house. I regularly pulled the two-person kayak behind me while snorkeling. This provided a safe platform for my 8 year old when he got nervous (this was his first time snorkeling).
Even though we loved it, this house might not be for everyone. We would have enjoyed a pool with shade. The rails on the deck are not toddler safe, and the swimming hole in front of the house is popular with locals. We loved that and considered it a feature. One family gave us mangos, and my 8 yo shared his mask and snorkel with two young girls. We loved it, and can't wait to return.

Beautiful Estate!!
My family and I (8 total) spent a week at Casa Cowee the second week in July. We were actually surprised at the size of the home. It was bigger than it looked in the photos. While the house could use a little updating ( and additional air conditioners) it was perfect if you want to experience the “island life.” The lush landscaping and the views from the deck were AMAZING! We would stay there again just for the view from the deck alone!! We loved the close proximity to the Beach Grill and several other great local restaurants. We also loved having Jose and Channin around for anything we needed. They took us to West Bay on Channins boat a couple of times and we had a blast. We were a little disappointed with the clarity of the water right off the dock. (Lots of turtle grass). But if you swim out just a little distance, the water is perfect. Having the dolphins next door was wonderful too! We also loved meeting the local families that swim around the dock. We made friends with a sweet couple that we will miss. I would highly recommend Casa Cowee if you are not wanting anything fancy but rather a quiet, relaxing, island retreat with views that will amaze you.

Island Retreat perfect for scuba divers
What a perfect island vacation for our family of five. Since visiting Roatan 25 years ago, Casa Cowee and Sandy Bay have managed to retain the unique island charm. In a noisy world, it was relaxing to enjoy stunning sunsets sitting on the deck overlooking crystal blue waters.
The house worked great for a family with 3 adult children. We rented the main house and casita, so there were plenty of beds and places to hang out. We loved the outdoor showers! Days were very warm, but the nights were comfortable with fans and the natural ventilation through the house. We spent most of the day under water scuba diving or relaxing on the deck. The Hammocks were amazing...we will miss them the most!!
Channin was extremely helpful getting us settled in and providing transportation whenever we needed to make a trip to the store or go to the West End. He is a great historian and provided wonderful background on the island. Jose was always magically nearby whenever we needed more water or access to the kayaks or just had a question. He was very friendly and helpful and was quick to address any issues we had.
We came to Roatan specifically for the diving. We originally planned to use Anthony's Key, but we were very happy that we ended up using SeaDivers at Tranquil Seas. It was an easy walk 5 min. down the beach and we could keep our gear in their lockers. We had the same dive master, Josue, all week and loved the personal attention of Amanda, Sam and the whole crew. We would definitely recommend them..very safe, conscientious and friendly.
We did go to West End one evening for dinner, but far preferred the quiet but fun evenings at the restaurants on Sandy Beach, Bahia and Tranquil Seas both have good food, good happy hours and are a short stroll down the beach.
As parents, what we loved the most, was making priceless memories with our daughters without the electronic distractions of our day to day lives. We enjoyed wonderful conversations just swinging in the hammocks and watching beautiful sunsets every day. This is as close to a true island experience as you can get....geckos, birds, dogs and kids playing in the surf, sand and salt water. Not an air conditioned resort with bar staff....just a true nature retreat.
Thank you Suzanne for sharing your island home and hospitality with us! We hope to return in the future.

P.S. Bug spray is absolutely a necessity every morning and evening!!

Another vist to Paradise!
This was our second stay at beautiful Casa Cowee and we all loved it as much as the first time! This accommodation is very comfortable for two couples: it is a lovely home right on the water and just steps from a very active reef. Snorkeling is our passion and we all spent a good 2 to 3 hours in the water each day seeing a wide range of diverse sea life. The house is beautifully situated among exotic fruit trees, orchids, lush plants, colorful hummingbirds and butterflies, and the occasional bright green gecko. The large deck is perfect for peaceful breakfasts and lovely happy hours that take advantage of the spectacular sunsets. The house is well stocked allowing guests to cook as much as they like. We prepared all breakfasts and a few dinners, grilling local lobster purchased fresh in West End. There is a new outside BBQ area that is a great addition. The sleeping arrangements are wonderful. The first floor suite is spacious and the upstairs loft is now complete with an added bathroom. Both rooms assure a wonderful and restful sleep against the soft breezes of a tropical island. Casa Cowee is also a short and inexpensive taxi ride to either West End or West Bay where you can purchase fresh produce and seafood or take advantage of the many wonderful restaurants. Just down the beach from Casa Cowee are two pretty and casual restaurants that serve great food and are fun places to enjoy. Two property caretakers, Jose and Daisy, are always available to help you with whatever you need. We love them both. Channin, a local tour guide and property manager is always willing to line up a special adventure for guests. He is great. And finally, Suzanne, property owner who we were lucky to meet on this trip, is gracious and so responsive. Roatan and Casa Cowee is all about relaxation, beauty and serenity. We feel so fortunate to have found this little piece of paradise.

Wonderful place to stay
My husband, two teenage sons and I have just gotten home from a wonderful stay at Casa Cowee. I absolutely LOVE this house! It is designed to catch the lovely island breezes. It is open and airy, and very comfortably appointed. It has decks all around, so you can enjoy the amazing water views and lush tropical landscaping. Watch the dolphins from the front deck, or the hummingbirds (so many hummingbirds!) from the back deck.
Jose, the caretaker, checked on us every morning and evening to see if we needed anything. He was very kind and helpful.
For the most part, we spent our time diving with Octopus Dive School. It is just a short walk down the beach at the Blue Bahía Resort. It was recommended by Suzanne, Casa Cowee’s owner. She was right. They were absolutely wonderful. It was great dealing with a small operation. Every day we told them how many dives we wanted to do, and they planned an amazing variety of dives for us. We also completed our Advanced Open Water certification during our stay.
We did do a bit of snorkeling and kayaking, all with equipment provided at the house, which was nice. I wish we had had more time for kayaking. It’s fun to try to intercept the dolphins when they are let out.
Also, I’m sure it’s the time of year or the weather, but there were hardly any bugs. No no-see-in’s and just a couple of mosquitoes. We were prepared. But we stopped using the bug spray after the second day, since we didn’t need it.
Another feature of Casa Cowee are the additional bungalows available. I’m very tempted to come back next year with some friends! Enjoy!

A place you never want to leave
For six years my friends and I have been looking for a replacement for our beloved Maho Bay Eco Camp on St. John.
At Casa Cowee we have finally found it: a charming house, a gorgeous pavilion above the beach, all surrounded by a tropical forest.
We enjoyed snorkeling and diving (a three minute walk away) during the day, and rum punch in the pavilion at sunset was perfect.

Family trip was excellent at this lovely property
My partner and I took his three adult kids and their partners and adult grandkid. Four of the kiddos scuba and the rest of us used the kayaks and snorkeled at the house. What a grand time. We stayed in the Temple Tree House and the kids took over the rest of the property and took advantage of the large decks and spaces to catch up and chat late into the night. The property manager took us on an overview tour and to the store the first couple of days. The guys went fishing with him and the on site manager and brought home dinner. It was relaxing and fun. The resident cat stalks the agoutis that live in the undergrowth. We were surrounded by birds and butterflies and enjoyed every beautiful sunset from the deck.
We will recommend this for anyone who wants to get away from the hustle and bustle of resorts and just relax for the entire vacation.

Awesome Villa for relaxation
This was our second visit to Roatan staying at Casa Cowee, a lovely villa in tranquil Sandy Bay. We immediately felt right at home. The large covered deck provides a panoramic view of the ocean and beach and is perfect for enjoying meals, reading, relaxing in the hammocks and taking in the beautiful sunsets. The property is surrounded by lush tropical plants. We enjoyed using the bbq and taking a short walk down the beach for excellent seafood and live music some of the evenings. We found the Villa to be very clean and comfortable and fully equipped. We loved being able to snorkel along the reef a short swim from the dock and going out in the kayaks. What really made our stay so enjoyable was having Channin and Kim close by to provide transportation and pick up groceries, take us to different areas to snorkel and also water taxi service to West Bay beach for dinner. The caretaker, Jose, checked in with us often to make sure we had everything we needed. We were very impressed by how kind and helpful all of them were to us. We definitely hope to return in the future.

Rat and cockroach infestation-beware!
My friend and I stayed in the main house at Casa Cowee for two and a half weeks in February 2018. The house was comfortably appointed with a tree in the middle of the living room and unusual décor that gave it a unique charm. It had a dock on the beach with an easy swim to nice snorkeling.
The staff who manages and maintains the house were awesome and became friends during our stay. Jose, Channin and Kimberly were extremely conscientious in making sure we were comfortable and our needs were met. The one star in our rating is for their outstanding service. However, we experienced a rat infestation from the first day we arrived which persisted for the duration of our stay. We repeatedly expressed our concerns to the owner which was met with an underwhelming response and an unwillingness to take full accountability for the situation. Several attempts were made to catch or poison the rats with limited success, and the nighttime struggles of a trapped rat disturbed our sleep. This unpleasantry was further compounded when a rat that had died under the kitchen sink started to rot. The resulting smell created a secondary infestation of cockroaches inside the house. This is not the first time that this house has experienced rat problems, as evidenced a previous review.
Given the cost of renting Casa Cowee, we did not expect to be dealing with those types of problems on our vacation. For this reason, we cannot recommend this house to others as we didn’t get good value and comfort that one would expect for this cost. I am a veterinarian and my travelling companion is a biologist; we are not squeamish. Many travellers would have vacated the property at the first sign of this type of infestation
