We traveled from the triple digits of summertime heat in central Texas, picked up our daughter from the panhandle of warm and humid Florida to spend some time together in a cooler new area (temperature & adventure). We were drawn to this home by the mountain views from the photos, it's proximity to walking/hiking trails, and being pet welcoming of our two well behaved/kennel trained labradors. This home proved to be a great choice for us. It was well stocked with kitchen utensils to cook breakfast, lunch or dinner. A washer and dryer and TV's in every room. It's the little touches of labeling the light switches so you know which one you need. Even though we were a small group of three, it was a perfect size home to be together or room to spread out. Spending three nights here gave us time to relax, refresh and regroup before heading back to the daily grind of life. Thanks The Bradleys

Visited with family of five for vacation. House is high enough on Utah Mountain for great views off deck but not so high that it takes forever to drive up/down. The house had plenty of space and sleeping options to keep everyone happy. We also loved the location. It sits roughly between entrance to park and Asheville. The house was clean and easy to check in/out. I would recommend it and stay again.

We arrived late into the night on the date of our check-in, and were pleasantly reaffirmed that we made the right choice in our booking decision. Everything was neatly organized and conveniently labeled, leaving no real-time questions unanswered, and for any questions that did come up over the course of the weekend, the host was quick to respond. Further, everything was immaculately clean upon our arrival. This home was cozy, warm, and welcoming, and the mountain view from the deck was breathtaking. Highly recommended!

The reviews here do not lie... We found everything to be as pleasant as described! The mountain climb was high but the roads up were excellent and GPS had no trouble getting us right to it... We loved the coffee filters and baggies/foil/etc. that were offered, and a great mix of adult and kid (plastic) dish ware. We did lose power for a few hours due to high winds (just beware that it can happen) and the hot tub did not warm up for our first two days, but the owner was able to walk us through a code sequence to reset the heater. Also beware that the garage is on the lowest level, so there are steep steps up to the porch outside or the main level inside from the walkout basement, which could make suitcase hauling difficult for some. The double-decker decks with great rocking chairs is where we spent most of our time in the day-long sunshine. Proximity to Waynesville and Maggie Valley were perfect... about a 20 min drive to everything you could want/need. Would rent this property in a heartbeat again!

I don't generally write reviews because my family is kind of picky and my reviews can make a place sound worse than it is, but I wanted to post a review for the Tuckaway House because this is one of the nicest places we have rented. The house is beautiful- nicely furnished, everything works, and it has a well-equipped kitchen. The best part is the porch. We thoroughly appreciated eating on the porch and just sitting out there enjoying the beautiful view and the cool mountain air that is the opposite of the smothering wet heat we have this time of year in the south Georgia Lowcountry. Mornings on the porch were great, just watching the fog clouds appear, change shape, and roll over the ridges. This location is convenient to a lot of nice parts of western NC including the sites in Waynesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Cherokee, the Cataloochee Valley, and it is an easy drive to Asheville. My picky family highly recommends it!

This house was everything we hoped it would be and more! Actually, it is even better than the pictures and description online. It is one of the most well stocked kitchens Ive ever been to and the house is overall really well equipped. My only recommendation to make it better is being more transparent about the drive up to the house. We have a larger SUV but it put in some OT in low gear to make it up the mountain and the driveway to this house. Thankfully most of the way was paved but we would only make a trip a day due to the steepness and impact to our vehicle. I think a forewarning in the description could be added as my mom’s car couldnt make the climb and she had to leave it at the local Publix. I would go back though but just more prepared for that because it was a great stay.

We got stuck there an extra day because of the snow storm and the owner could not have been more helpful and accommodating. We had the greatest time! Definitely stay here if you have the chance!

This was by far the nicest and cleanest rental in the Smokies we have ever had. Been going to different areas in TN and NC for 20+ years and have never had such great accommodations! The closet full of toys was a game changer for our energetic toddler. Nice for a relaxing getaway and not too far to Asheville. Views from either deck were amazing 🤩

Exactly as described in the pictures, the house was beautiful, the views were great, everything was working. Highly recommend! Also, there were trowels, spices, pots, pans, etc etc. You never know with some VRBO rentals. Definitely would stay again!

We had a fantastic time staying at this property. Our teen and tween were happy to not share a room. The house was one of the cleanest we rented. The kitchen was conveniently equipped and the grill on the deck was an added bonus. Beds were comfy, views are breathtaking and it is a perfect place to recharge. Highly recommend!

We enjoyed our stay at this rental home, but it could have been better. The house has a beautiful view and clean. Except for the master bathroom that I think was overlooked with some else hair in the drain. We arrived late Friday night and we received a message from the property manager at 7:55 A.M on Saturday that there was leak in the maintenance closet and we needed to vacate the property for several hours while they turned off the water and fixed it. I asked if someone could come out that day as we didn’t want the rest of our stay to be interrupted. I explained we would leave at noon as we just got in late last night and the leak was minor. We left the property and there was no communication with the property manager regarding if a maintenance person was coming out that day or when we could return to the property. The property is in a rural area that is more on the outskirts of Maggie valley. It’s about an hour to Asheville and 25 min to downtown Waynesville. Many of the better restaurants are in the downtown waynesville area. I thought communication with the PM was poor at best. After checking out I asked when to expect our deposit back and received no response until after this submission. Also its worth mentioning you are expected to take your trash to the dump which is not close or pay an additional fee In addition to the cleaning fee. I think this extra fee should have been disclosed upfront. Also, when we arrived the trash can had trash in it from the cleaning crew. Are we expected to take the cleaning crew’s trash to the dump too? I think if you are on vacation the last thing you want to do is load your car with garbage bags and head to the local dump. Not luxurious at all. I think this property fell short compared to other rentals we have experienced in the area. I think it had a lot to do with the PM. It felt poorly run and poor communication with the PM. I think the best part of this property was the view and it was clean. I would say there are better properties out there. But if you looking for something basic, clean, and ok location then you won’t be too disappointed.

Like the previous reviews the property was excellent!In fact (no disrespect to photographer) the only place where we have been where the photos did not do it justice as the place was more comfy and over bigger that the photos appear. The travel there is challenging for a first timer with the switchbacks, just go slow and after a few days you will be driving them like the locals. Suggest trying and get in before dark the first time up.Nice design with great southernly view and sunset(s). We were lucky to have a great first evening with a spectacular sunset, followed by a small dusting of 2-4 inches of snow the next day. Then everything melted and we were out. The snowplow cleared the roads by noon.The property was generous and provided of quality supplies, paper towel, TP, zip lock bags, stemware, crockpot. The knives were even somewhat sharp all the chefs.A shout out to the property managers with pre-check-in, check-in and check-out and prompt refund of deposits. Thank you, Heather & Scott!
