Wonderful vistas with restorative peace and quiet to commune with nature.

Very comfy for our small family. The house had everything we needed to cook and the beds were comfy. Good working wood stove and effective electric heater. The beach was great. A wonderful 2 weeks.

This is a really beautiful part of the world. Sunny days are splendid, foggy days are magical as the sea & sky become one. There's so much to explore - nearby islands & coves by water, and moss covered trails through the hills full of surprises. Great bird-watching, and seals too!
The cabin is compact, but just perfect for our family of 4. The view from the living room/porch is fantastic, and the wood stove is so cozy on chilly nights. Great shower, too. Kitchen has everything you need, and you can buy lobster fresh off the boat just down the road.
Relaxing, beautiful, calm - a perfect change from city life. I'd heartily recommend to all.

There are 6 pieces to a pie. Our vacation in Brooksville Maine was the Whole Pie. Peaceful and relaxing, incredible views, tons of wildlife, fine dining, kayaking and fishing and outstanding seafood. Will be back next year for a longer stay!

I wanted to be nestled in the woods along the craggy Maine shoreline with zero distractions. This property gave my family all of that and more. The kids loved exploring the trails, fishing, rock skipping, shelling and bird/boat watching. My husband I could sit on the porch 24/7, but spent each day exploring a different nook and cranny of Maine from Rockland to Acadia. This is the first vacation in forever that time slowed down and we could relax!

Lovely rustic cabin perched over a harbor with stunning views. Great birdwatching (if that’s your jam). Very quiet and at least 30 minutes from any stores which was fine by us! If you’re looking for a quiet, relaxing retreat on the rocky coast, this is a wonderful spot!

The cabin's setting is quintessential Maine coast. The views from the deck are framed by weather-worn pine trees, and the trails to the beach are carpeted in lush moss and mushrooms. We had nightly shows from the seals, bald eagles, and loons. It is truly beautiful.
Everything in the cabin was clean, in good working order, and the kitchen was well equipped. The host was communicative and helpful.
If you are looking for peace and quiet in a beautiful setting, this is the place. There are no frills, but that is part of what makes it fun!

This cabin provided the seclusion and quiet that we were looking for along with a wonderful ocean side view.

This is a fantastic place to unplug, unwind and get inspired. Wonderful swimming, miles to explore on land and water while walking trails and paddle boarding, beautiful views from many sit spots in and around the cabin, and excellent internet for when you need to explore the World Wide Web. Beds are comfortable, the kitchen is cook ready, and the wood stove is very easy to use to warm up on rainy or chilly days.

We have enjoyed our rental of this cabin multiple times and find it wonderful beyond measure!

This property was exactly as described and very comfortable.
We had a fantastic time & are looking forward to visiting Maine again.

Wonderful cabin on the water. Quiet respite in the woods. Must be able bodied to get to beach or dock via paths.

We couldn’t have loved the cabin more! It was exactly what we were wanting on our two-week visit to the area. While being very private with paths through the woods and down to a beach, it was still very accessible to many of the quaint restaurants and sights nearby.
The wood stove was perfect for keeping the cabin warm and cozy on cool days.

My wife and I stayed three weeks at Red Point. From the moment we saw the cabin and stood on the front porch, we were mesmerized by the beauty, silence, and serenity of the expansive view of the bay. The cabin was cozy, clean, and well stocked, including adequate split firewood for the wood stove. We can't wait to return next year.

This is one of our favorite places on earth. The property is wooded and mossy, providing privacy while offering spectacular water views and wildlife. The cabin is comfortable and open. The hosts make sure you have everything you need in order to explore and relax.

A quiet getaway for nature lovers. Off, off the beaten path. Paddling, swimming, hiking, and fishing, or just sitting for a spell with a great book. Excellent bakery nearby (breads, pastries, pizza). Weekly farmstands.

This house is perfect for getting away from everyday life. The quiet, private location was great. We spent a lot of time watching the seals hunt out front. A comfier chair or newer cushions for reading would be great, but the cabin had everything we needed for the week.

This was our second visit to Red Point, and the view from the cabin porch is even more stunning than I remembered. The cabin is stocked w just what you need in the kitchen, there are great books and so many opportunities to hike and be in the water. And everything is perfectly maintained. Blue Hill is a short drive, and we loved Bagaduce Lunch and LDI Lobster. We feel truly fortunate that the owners shared their beloved camp with us, and can’t wait to stay again.

Thoroughly enjoyed our "get away from it all". Even our 15-year old grandson did not miss television or the internet (worked early in the day but evenings were more hit or miss). The views were stunning and never became old. Especially liked watching the seals and birds (eagle included).

Very positive experience with a nice deck to sit on and gaze at the ocean. Lots of outdoor exploration of pathways and beaches. Owners were very responsive to questions.

This is the spot to relax and look at the beautiful Maine coast. From the cabins’ large deck, you are steps from the “red” rocks that must have given Red Pt. its name. There are trails through the woods to rocky tide pools and a floating dock. The cabin has everything you need and views from almost every window. We enjoyed the solitude and peace and quiet, but the hosts are responsive if you have a question.

Lovely little cabin with a magnificent deck and view. Very relaxing! Road in is challenging as the host has indicated. Don’t come in a low slung vehicle! Boats and wild life to watch. We had a very relaxing stay.

This was my first stay in this area of Maine and I was blown away with the beauty and solace it offers. The Red Point cabin property is no exception and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, which was definitely not long enough! September in Maine is my favorite time of year and the weather was perfect.
I spent a lot of time just sitting on the deck staring at the islands and the sea and then when I was inside, staring out the picture window at the islands and the sea. What a wonderful place to chillax and be inspired!
Having the woodstove to take the chill out in the morning was a nice feature to enjoy. Nothing like having your first cup of coffee at sunrise, standing next to the fire and being mesmerized by the view thru the picture window.
The seals and the bald eagles kept me busy trying to take photos, but with no luck. I did get plenty of photos of the views and all the different sail boats that were everywhere enjoying the weather. What a special place.
I just wanted to thank the Brainerd family for sharing it with the rest of us! It is truly a little piece of heaven!

We stayed here with our 2 adult sons for a week. I can’t say enough about how beautiful the location is. We stayed for a week and wish it had been for a month. The cabin was lovely and rustic as described, totally suited our needs, especially being able to spend so much time on the porch. The cabin was clean, cozy and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was super functional and had everything we needed. Sitting on the rocks, watching and listening to the seals, keeping an eye out for Larry the bald eagle… kayaking through the coves and in and out of islands (we rented from The Activity Shop, and they were great), getting pizza and bread & pastry from Tinder Hearth- which was just kind of magic-other treats from Bucks Harbor Market… hiking at the sanctuary, driving carefully past the ducks, exploring old cemeteries… walking the mossy paths to the Far Beach, seeing Jupiter and Saturn from the porch, watching the fog roll in, huddling under the awning to watch the lightning… it was amazing, and something we’ll never forget. It truly is a perfect place, surrounded by other perfect places.

Very nice cabin with a great view! Six persons can stay in this comfortable cabin. Note that if you want privacy inside, sound travels through the house . It is a wonderful place to wake up to every morning, no matter what the weather is like.

My family’s dad I had a wonderful week at Red Point. The cabin was perfect for the whole family, including our dog. The scenery is beautiful and relaxing. My kids and husband and I had fun swimming, kayaking and exploring the trails and tide pools. Nearby Holbrook Island Sanctuary was also a great place to explore. Red Point was exactly what I was looking for for my Maine vacation. I hope to come back and visit again next summer!

We had a wonderful stay and the cabin has everything you need. I had the pleasure of meeting Erin who was very welcoming. We enjoyed the spectacular views, quiet, and all the nature to take in including birds, seals, crabs, and fish. It's very peaceful and helped us rest and recharge. We took a day trip to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor, and the drive was fairly quick, and worth it for anyone that stays here. The drive up to the cabin is kind of rough and must be carefully maneuvered especially if driving a car as we were. It would be much easier in an SUV or Truck. We hope to stay again in the future.

We enjoyed a quiet week of kayaking, ocean viewing, and reading through the rainy days (Elsa blew through at the end of the week). The cabin had everything we needed. Our old dog was thrilled with the scents of the forest and the sea. We had decent WiFi to read the morning “paper” and power held through the storm. Loved it!

House has everything one could need, even a binocular is provided to view the birds and seals on nearby islands. Has a nice sunny porch, and access to a pristine beach.

Lovely cabin on the most beautiful property, which truly is a hidden gem in Brooksville. Simple accommodations, gorgeous views and lots of trails to explore! You won't be disappointed.

We thoroughly enjoyed staying here. The property felt remote, which is exactly what we were hoping for. We stayed in September so the summer crowds were gone. An immature eagle literally flew over, screeching repeatedly, when we arrived. A rock ledge overlooking the water became a favorite spot to hang out; we watched seals stirring up schools of fish. Be forewarned that the driveway is steep and parts of it rocky, as in, low riding vehicles need to be mindful while navigating in and out. Mostly we stayed put, soaking up the natural world with beautiful views of islands dotting the horizon.
Our only disappointment with the property was that the sitting area only had individual chairs; no couch to lay down on or snuggle up with another person on (not enough room.) Having said that the chairs were comfortable. It’s a three season property so when the temp dropped at night we were ready to start a fire in the wood stove in the morning. Enchanting place. Tip: we stocked up on all grocery needs before arriving.

We've been vacationing in the Penobscot Bay Area for 34 years: mostly either Owl's Head or Spruce Head near Oceanville, both places owned by friends. We have explored other parts of Maine: Machiasport, Winter Harbor, Brooksville, Sedgwick - 2 owned by friends and 2 I found using Downeast Vacation/VRBO. This year we needed to find a place for a week and we wanted something small (there are 2 of us), with fireplace or wood stove, a private/secluded spot in the Penobscot Bay Area, a real plus would be mooring. Don't care about TV, but DVD nice. Found the Red Point Cabin listing, read the reviews, looked at pics and description and it sounded perfect. The torturous, windy driveway helped build anticipation, and we almost burst into tears of joy at the beauty of the location. We walked onto the divine deck overlooking the 'Reach' and the coves, into the well-built rustic cabin. Just the right size, the front part one large room with up to date kitchen area, table with 4 chairs, 2 comfy lounging chairs and a wood stove. Further exploration revealed the 2 downstairs bedrooms and bath, and the 2nd floor large loft bedroom.
I collapsed on a chair and glanced at the small bookcase and didn't move for an hour: have never seen such an eclectic selection of books: both for children (very nice touch) and older, ranging from scientific/environmental/nature (2 by owner's father), poetry, biography and novels: mystery and beach type. Also a classical music CD collection.
The location was spectacular. We followed the barely noticeable moss, pine needle, root covered trails to find benches by outlooks with a 180 view of water, islands, sail and lobster boats; 'Hesperides' Cove I didn't want to leave, the communal dock, where we tied up our boat, and a large geologically fascinating beach. Another couple was staying in the Cottage through the woods, but we rarely saw them.
We had the great good fortune of meeting one of the owners- couldn't have been nicer.
We definitely want to go back next year, possibly 2 weeks if available.
Red Point Cabin surpassed our expectations. It was fabulous.
Only 2 points on the minus side: unable to get WIFI, which I use sparingly, because router had been moved by other tenants; and we didn't know that there was a shared wood pile ( in a shed) until the end of our stay. But they are minor.
Thank you Brainerd Family for permanent conservation of land and sharing your heaven/Haven with us.

The pictures don't do it justice, it's nicer than I expected...the place is simple yet so comfortable. If you don't mind a basic cabin, with a bit of a scary driveway, well then let me tell you that you're in for a huge treat. The views are priceless, the beds decent, the beaches, dock and trails just awesome. Absolutely would book again. The only improvements could be better Wi-Fi (but still, to have any Wi-Fi when it's advertised as none was cool, so it didn't detract from giving 5 stars), maybe nice if tv had more channels (only 2 really came in). But there was so much else to do, and the surrounding sights and sounds so magnificent that these things really didn't matter. Good maps provided in the cabin, gave us lots of adventures including finding a great restaurant in Castine. Thanks very much, we would highly recommend your place!

The cabin is very clean and well kept with a lovely, rustic feel that accommodated the six of us (four adults and two dogs) perfectly. We loved the remote, private location that still allowed us to visit all of the wonderful locales, including Acadia National Park, all in a day's trip. Allen was very helpful and accessible in the planning of our trip.

Really lovely spot. Once you get past the chickens in the road, and then climb a very steep hill in the woods (saying to yourself that there is no way this is the right way to go), you arrive at the most perfect of spots. We spent the majority of the week on the rocky beach and poking around the cliffs. The cabin is well appointed and comfortable and the view from the deck spectacular. Thrilled to see (and hear) the eagle every morning. We met the neighbor in the cottage next door who has been spending time on this property since she was a child. We look forward to booking this again next summer! The dog does too!

Really just an incredible and magical place. The cabin itself is gorgeous and so homey. It was quite cool while we were there and we enjoyed the wood stove IMMENSELY. My 2 year old daughter was thrilled with the kids books on site. The place either smelled like cedar (the cabin), pine (all the trees), or low tide. One of the most sensual places I have ever been.
Getting there the first time felt a little iffy. The long road through the forest feels like it can't possibly be the correct way. And yet that is part of the magic of the place. A mossy, oceanic eagle ridden fairy land!

Red Point Cabin is a very special place--a modest cabin set on a spectacular unspoiled 19-acre point with 180-degree views of Penobscot Bay. We were blown away by the beauty of the setting, which far exceeded our expectations. We loved the privacy and solitude, and were so enthralled with the woods and waterfront that we barely left the point all week. We enjoyed hiking the trails, picking blueberries, kayaking the coves and islands, swimming off the beach, watching sunset and moonrise from the rocks on the point, and enjoying the incredible water views from the deck. We were thrilled to watch a pair of bald eagles that flew around the cabin all week. Our dog was also in heaven, and spent the week swimming, running in the woods, and napping in the sunshine. Another party was staying in the cottage next door, but they were quiet and respectful and we hardly knew they were there. Allen Brainerd and his family are a are dedicated naturalists and conservationists who are sensitive stewards of the landscape. We feel incredibly fortunate to have stumbled across this special place and are already talking about reserving a week next summer.
