I've rented numerous homes through VRBO over the years and this property was, without a doubt, the absolute best. The pictures do not do justice to how beautiful this property is. The outdoor pool is amazing. The beach--shut the door--is so beautiful. I just wish I didn't have to leave. Loved every second.

Our stay in Costa Rica and Casa Escondido was amazing. It was our first-time visiting Costa Rica and we couldn’t have been happier with our choice in lodging. Although I read all the positive comments about the beach in front of the house prior to booking, I really didn’t understand how spectacular it was. It really felt like our private beach. Our kids are 14 and 10. We did a few excursions, but they said the beach days were their favorite. We live 20 minutes from the beach in Southern California, but the beaches here don’t compare. The location of the house was perfect with so many restaurants within walking distance. The grounds were very nice, and we felt very safe with the gated yard and secluded beach. We didn’t do much cooking thanks to the proximity of good restaurants nearby, but the kitchen had all the kitchen essentials you would need. The beds were comfortable and the A/C worked great. Kristi was very responsive & was extremely helpful in assisting us with excursions. We would definitely recommend.

Perfect house for our family of 4. Location to the beach, restaurants and surfing could not have been better. We were there only three days, so didn’t need a car, but if we were to stay longer- a car is recommended. We had howler monkeys pass through twice, along with birds, lizards and way too many crabs. Kristi was responsive and helpful- and house was well stocked. Would definitely rent again.

The pictures do not do this place justice, it is so perfect. Kristi our host went above and beyond with everything we needed including a fishing trip and taxi service as well as restaurant recommendations. We will be back!

We had a great relaxing vacation! The property was perfectly located on the beach and close to a couple of Restaruants. Kristi was very informative and we found the place clean and comfortable.

Our family came to Casa Escondida after the thrilling adventures of Arenal, so we were ready for some relaxation. The Palm Beach Estates is a beautiful, chill neighborhood with excellent local restaurants and little hotels. Definitely try them all!! The pool and beach provided the perfect spots to unwind. The house is spacious and clean and there's an awesome outdoor kitchen, which we did not get to use, but which would've been convenient. We didn't rent a car and instead used the driver recommended by Kristi. He and his son were excellent--prompt, courteous and reliable. I definitely think it would have been handy to have a car in this area though, because it's a little removed from everything. Kristi is a great concierge with helpful tips and local connections. Overall, a wonderful way to end our stay in Costa Rica.

This is our favorite home that we have stayed in Palm Beach Estates. We love the access to the beach, the flow of the home, the Rancho area, the beds, etc. We hope to book again for next year.

We had a wonderful Christmas holiday on the beach. We enjoyed the very very short walk to the Playa Grande beach. We also enjoyed the beautiful covered porch and pool. Upon entering the development, they have a guard posted and one guard patrolling at night. An added safety bonus. We felt 100% safe during the entire visit. We will definitely be back!

After driving through the rain at night we were finally able to find the house which was a little difficult to find at night. Kristi was great with helping us get settled in and show us everything we needed to know. The house itself was everything and more than you needed. Very comfortable. Our two older kids stayed in the room attached at the back of the house. The rancho area by the pool was amazing! Although the neighbours are close and elevated so they can see you when you’re in the pool and the rancho area. The beach access was the selling point for us..being able to walk 50 steps to Playa Grande was absolutely paradise!! We ventured throughout the neighborhood and ate at almost all the close restaurants. The food was very good everywhere! The market down the street also has everything we needed in a pinch. I would highly recommend this place to anyone!

The house was very clean. The kitchen could use some updating. The location is very good for surfing and walking to the beach. The listing should say that the one bedroom is detached from the house so can not be used by small children. The neighborhood was very nice with lots of inexpensive restaurants close by. WE were at the end of rainy season so the road to get to the house was full of potholes especially near the entrance to the neighborhood.

We had a great stay- pictures are very accurate to the property! It is steps from a beautiful white sand beach with unique seashells that is much less crowded than Tamarindo but close enough to walk to the river mouth and catch a boat (~$1-2) across to Tamarindo. The walk takes about 20-30 minutes. There are restaurants within walking distance (5-10 min) and the property feels very safe. The pool is a huge plus, rooms are big with comfortable beds, and the kitchen is fully stocked. I cannot recommend this property enough and the hosts were kind and knowledgeable!

Location is amazing with your back yard having a very short walk and direct access to the beach. House is comfortable with as many bathrooms as bedrooms. Common spaces are large. Hosts are great and easy to communicate with. Will definitely stay here again. Absolutely perfect!

We loved our stay here! The home was extremely clean and the grounds and pool surrounding it were perfectly kept. We felt like we were in our own tropical paradise. We absolutely loved the private beach access. Playa Grande beach was so beautiful and never crowded. We enjoyed the sunsets every evening. We would highly recommend this beautiful home!

We had a fantastic stay here. 30 second walk to the beach, but still very private. Nicely detached from busy tamarindo area, but still close enough.

We loved our stay at Casa Escondida. The house was perfectly clean and comfortable for our family. Having the access out the back door to the beach was perfect for our surfers while our 5 year old enjoyed the pool. Although the neighborhood feels completely safe, having the gate and the alarm is always nice for peace of mind. The neighborhood is lovely and there’s really no need to leave. The restaurants are all delicious and very affordable. We usually cook some meals on our vacations but with the price of the local restaurants, it’s really not even worth it. The food is plentiful and the service was always friendly. Kristi and Doug were friendly and welcoming and always available if we needed help but were never intrusive. They helped quickly with any questions we had and told us many options for excursions. We’ve stayed in Playa Grande before and didn’t think another house would compare to the one we last stayed in but Casa Escondida was more than we could have hoped for. Being is Palm Beach estates is like staying at a resort but with your own house. The best of both worlds. We can’t wait to return to Playa Grande and Casa Escondida.

Great house and property. Most days the beach felt like it was on our private beach with great waves and lots to explore. A lot of great things to do in the area, we went fishing, horseback riding, zip lining, hiking, golf, etc. Pool was a nice bonus as well. Thank you Kristi and Doug!

We brought our college age girls here and we all enjoyed the house and neighborhood. Everything you need is within walking distance including several really good restaurants. It feels very safe. The house has great beach access! Kristi is a huge help with any local questions.

Our trip to Playa Grande was nothing short of magical. Our stay at Casa Escondida exceeded our expectations. The home was perfectly located steps from the practically private beach, had a refreshing & clean pool, outdoor seating in shade, privacy and beautiful landscaping. Inside was a fully stocked home including linens, beach towels, kitchen accessories, games, WiFi and even laundry soap. Kristi & Doug were wonderful. They greeted us upon arrival and gave us the run down of the home and area. Doug even helped my boys with their surf board fins. They were always a quick text away if we had a question. Our trip was geared toward our 4 surfer dudes and Playa Grande did not disappoint. The kids liked the surf break just outside our house more than the ones we drove to. Tamarindo was a super fun spot with lots of shops, restaurants and surf stuff as far as the eye can see. We walked about 100 yards down the beach and took the water taxi over to Tamarindo many times. It was easy and fun. We really like that our beach was very quiet and private but could easily get to the busy fun beach when we wanted. We would have loved to stay forever & can’t wait to go back!

The property is basically as advertised - the ocean is visible from inside the home and steps away. Playa Grande is a stunning beach that stretches for miles, and the Palm Beach estates are a rustic little enclave within PG. When the waves got too big for the kids they all just ran over and enjoyed the pool for awhile. The pool area is fun and comfortably set up. Many restaurants within walking distance. We had a random issue with the A/C unit and the house manager, Kristi, worked to handle it quickly, fairly and with kindness. She was also helpful with a car rental, covid tests and the rest of it. Not clear to me from the listing is that the 3d bedroom (w/ the queen bed) is ONLY accessible from a separate outside entrance. In other words, it cannot be accessed from inside the main house. We ended up not using that bedroom b/c our kids are young and we weren't comfortable with that set up. Overall, we LOVED this place and hope to be back.

We love Playa Grande and Palm Beach Estates. We've loved every trip, but this was our favorite. The location could not be better. The house was perfect. We were outside from morning to night.

We had a fantastic stay with our family of 5. The house worked well for us, given that our oldest was thrilled with the separate studio room, and the outdoor space and pool area was great. Location is perfect, steps to the beach down the front path, and easy walking distance to multiple restaurants. Kristi was amazing and helped us arrange surfing lessons and horseback riding, both of which were great experiences. We will be back!

Wonderful location and a great house. The outdoor space was a big bonus and the proximity to Tamarindo was great. Super secure with gated community and gated property. Many restaurants and shops to chose from. House could benefit from a refresh of linens and housewares but overall a wonderful experience.

Great location. The house was clean and had everything we needed. The beds were comfortable. Kristi, who manages the property, always responded very quickly and was very helpful during our stay. The owner also responded very quickly to any questions we had prior to our stay. Would definitely stay here again.

I have been to playa grande a few times before and even stayed at another house in palm beach estates that I love love love. That one was not available so i booked David’s. I’m really glad I did. It is Bitchen. Super private behind gates with a huge lot all landscaped with an awesome Rancho bbq and pool. Then the house is very nice, modern 2 bed 2 bath and a separate 1 bed 1 bath attached. Full kitchen very nice. Behind the house is a porch that faces the path to the sand and an epic beach break. I’ve caught around 500 waves on this beach in my life but this trip we got pretty consistent 2-7 foot waves that stayed clean for hours. So my number maybe like 700 now. In feb I was here and it was much more fickle. So rad and greener this time of year. Also got lucky as if only rained 2 days. Neighbor david and his dog are super friendly. Only negative is a few bugs bit my wife and daughter and the power went out a few times but both are a bit expected this time of the year with rain likely. Lastly the road from main playa grande to palm beach is an adventure. An e ticket for sure. Maybe only a c ticket during feb. just be aware. But still a totally epic place will for sure come again for boyz trip.

We were a group of 4 adults that like to surf. This place allowed us to do just that but also was a great place to relax once the day was done. Liked it so much we extended our stay. Property management was also wonderful. Would definitely come back and recommend. Thanks guys. Pura Vida.
