It was good to stay out of the big town of Rotorua though it was only a short drive away for groceries etc.
The kitchen was well equipped, but the bathroom is accessible only through kids bedroom. The bathroom had a towel warmer which was nice.
We highly recommend a visit to The Buried Village (nearby tourist attraction)

The property was unique, extremely clean and provided us a home away from home for a couple of days. It had everything you could possibly need and the hosts are very friendly and helpful. Would highly recommend it.

Close to Okareka lake which my wife would go to each morning to watch the sunrise while the lazy father and son stayed in their beds. We did all do the glow worm kayaking tour on this lake which was amazing and highly recommended.
When we looked at the online listing it wasn’t clear that the accommodation is attached to a house. But this didn’t effect our privacy at all. It’s a beautiful house with a close to nature feel about it while still being close to some great activities like the redwood tree walk.
We loved sitting on the porch and having tūī and other birds pop over to feed on the bird feeder attached the garage.

Looks welcoming and friendly when we entered the house. Gifted some eggs from their backyard and feijoas on a fruit bowl. If your a fond of feijoas this place is for you. And I love feijoas!

Lake okareka was a beautiful place to stay. The house was up a hill and very close to the lake with beautiful surroundings. The downstairs unit was charming and we enjoyed our time there.

Our stay in the Lavender House was lovely. So many details had been thought of to make our stay special. The accommodation was very comfortable and well equipped. This is a lovely property. The owners live on the top of the rental so this is a whole house and just the downstairs section is rented out. There is private access but you can hear the owners upstairs and park on a shared driveway. The space needs a deep clean but was fine for two nights. Note: there is only one queen size bed for for adults. The bunk beds are tiny and are only fit for small children under ten, and the sleeper couch in the lounge / kitchen area is the old fold design with the crease down the middle only fit for one person. So this works well for a couple sharing the queen with two small children on the bunk beds, but not for two adults sleeping separately as the other adult won't find a comfortable space. The kitchen is lovely. The bathroom is accessed through the children's bedroom. It's a 15 minute drive out of Rotorua. The pictures suggest a Lakeview but there isn't one - you have to walk to the end of the street to see the lake.

I opted to book this property to stay away from the stress of the city, couldn't have picked better. Lovely touches of a card, chocolates and backyard eggs were so welcoming, will love coming back to stay

What a beautiful place to stay :) We only stayed 2 nights but plan to come back again for longer in the future. The cottage was clean and tidy, had everything you could possibly need, loved the coffee machine. Beds were comfy and warm. It was no problem to park our boat in the driveway to keep it safe. A lovely quiet cottage in such a beautiful place. Only a 2 minute walk down to the lake and boat ramp. Will stay here now whenever we come to Rotorua instead of in the city itself. Just a quick 5 - 10 minute drive into Rotorua. Had the loveliest time. Thanks Christine and Nigel, don't change anything about this place :)
