A very well maintained hotel which offers an excellent breakfast and very comfortable surroundings. La Fontana is well situated, being just 15 mins from the restaurants and 10 mins from the ferry service to the islands. Excellent swimming pool and family friendly ambiance without screaming kids. The hotel parking is free and quite large. Good wifi.

Good breakfast, lovely vintage sitting/breakfast room and bar. We sometimes came home after dinner and asked for drinks at the bar and the staff were very friendly.

Room 23 has an exceptionally small bathroom, making it difficult to dry off after a shower.

Excellent location. Straightforward hotel does what it says. No evening meal, but some excellent restaurants in Stresa. Good parking.

Slight 70's feel. Don't be put off by exterior or cashpoint outside.

Lovely large balcony and view of the lake. However the sun did not reach our balcony for most of the day and the busy road right in front of the hotel made relaxing on the balcony difficult. Breakfast was good. Pool area looked lovely although we visited too early in the season to make use of it.

Zero sound insulation - loudest hotel ever experienced. We could hear doors opening, phones ringing and people moving around from every floor. The road outside is very loud. There was also a light in the corridor that was on all night and a gap under the door, so the room was illuminated all night.

Wonderful little hotel. Fantastic location with lovely lake promenade to city center with shops and restaurants. Hotel staff is very friendly and gives advice if needed. Great breakfast, gardens and beautiful reception area.

Water pressure is not very strong and breakfast only till 9.30 am :-)

Breakfast area is small and thus we had to queue to get a table. There were no bouble beds, but two singles merged together.

Loud radio music at the pool . Most guests were different generation to the staff member controlling choice and volume of music around pool. Several guests repeatedly asked for the music to be switched off (Sun 18 Sep) but the request was refused. Apparently hotel director likes music at pool. Most guests at the pool were trying to read - very difficult with the distraction of such terrible music. We all have access via our phones and headsets to choose our own music if required. nothing worse than other people’s music!

The swimming pool was large for an hotel this size, and with salty water (better than chlorine) Location is convenient, not far from the city center by the Lido Great views on the lake and the islands

Wonderful location. 10 minute walk from train. Beautiful walk along the lake.

Room was very clean but a bit small for three beds. Newly decorated but wooden furniture was very dated. Bathroom was all new but incredible small. Breakfast was good (except for the "stewed bacon") with a good choice (bread was excellent). The staff were very friendly and helpful.

We had three power outages that resulted in two evenings with no hot water (very annoying if one wants to freshen up before going out for dinner). The owner did, however, deduct 30 Euros from the bill for the inconvenience. The elevator made a sickening crunch as it descended past the 1st floor. The beds and pillows were very uncomfortable (for us at least). The air conditioner was very noisy but not very effective.
