Privacy and serenity of the place is top notch. It was easy to locate and check in was swift and the host were super professional and efficient. The house layout was brilliantly for family yo gather and spend time together. The view was splendid. Although weather was not on my side during my stay but I still manage to star gaze just right out front of the property.

There was absolutely nothing wrong with my stay. Love it all.

Everything was great. I did notice some improvements have already been made in the downstairs bedroom to make it more cosy.

Lovely, comfortable home with some quirky and interesting decorations. Bed was great and the outdoor bath amazing. I thought the bath would take a long time to fill but was pleasantly surprised how quick it actually was. Easy to use kitchen. It was wonderful to have the wood burner ready to light as we have no idea how to prep one. A bit tricky to find but instructions made it okay.

Outdoor bath, well equipped kitchen, comfortable bed and bedding. Great to have washing machine and dryer while travelling. Walking distance to town centre and very quiet location

Shower slippery. Strange room layout particularly as this was an award winning architecturally designed house i.e laundry in main bedroom wardrobe and WC in same bedroom feels like an afterthought but perfectly functional for a couple

We loved our stay at the Black House, it is a really smart design and the perfect location for exploring Lake Tekapo and surrounds!!

Very unique house and setting. Loved the little extras (tea coffee, salt, oil) and the kids loved the board games selection. Was a great book selection too (wish our stay was longer so I could have read some of these)

With the strong winds this weekend, the outside steel doors were continually wapping. Not the owners fault, couldn’t be helped.

Nothing much really! only issue was that the FIFA World Cup games were on and the terrestrial tv signal was a little bit sketchy at times!

There were 2 toilets in the house even though the listing showed only 1 bathroom (still only 1 shower) which was a bonus cos we were a party of 5! The upper bedrooms had skylights where you could spot stars if it wasn't cloudy. Common area was good for unwinding. Great location as it is really close to town by car. Communicative hosts who provide great food recommendations!

Concrete flooring in the kitchen and bathroom - felt cold (esp when showering) and could see dirt on the base of our slippers. Layout was also a tad strange - laundry area plus half toilet plus storeroom was in the master bedroom and it felt like it was an unfinished room. Not a deal breaker but not what I was expecting for the price.

Outdoor bath was a highlight (and selling point in comparison to the little black house). Was the perfect private oasis to relax and watch the night sky. Everything we needed in one place, great location for all weather!

Architecturally designed house- modern, practical, lovely ambience. Best bath I have ever experienced - so deep you are able to float under the stars. Easy walk to town and water. Owners are great to deal with.

I love how cozy and warm the place was. The house was ready way before we got there. It was complete with amenities. It was easy to settle in and checkout. Will definitely stay again on next visit!
