There are 88 steps to climb to get to the road from the Hotel or a steep path which is a bit longer. The Hotel was quite impersonal. Indoor pool not heated and we found it too cold. Outside sun beds very low and uncomfortable. We were concerned about the Bar floor Manager's treament of staff, they all seemed quite intimitated by him. He seemed a bit tactile with some female members of staff which we wouldn't expect to see in a professional hotel.

The best feature of this hotel is the indoor pool (nice, not crowded, long opening hours...). Also, location is great, very close to old city center. Rooms are spatious, staff is nice... There is a free garage for guests (the info on booking site that the hotel has no parking was wrong).

We couldn't use the balcony and had to keep its doors closed at all times due to persistent and loud technical noise (probably from hotel's cooling or pool systems). Outdoor pool looked nice but unfortunately water in it was very cold. Other issues that a 5star hotel should fix: - update toilets - fix the facade (has stains and damages in several places).

I have stayed here before which is why I rebooked. Hotel is in a great location. About a 10 minute walk (uphill) to the Triton Fountain and bus station in one direction and similar to The Hop on/off bus pick up area. Staff in reception and breakfast room were superb. Lovely touch to be greeted with a drink on arrival. Luggage was stored for us as the room wasn't ready and this too is also a bonus. Room location was fine for one night though the view was of a wall so we didn't want to sit out on the balcony. Breakfast was superb and plentiful. We booked the hotel car to take us to the airport on departure and our driver was a lovely man. All in all, a great stay

Chaos in the bar in the evening. The till kept crashing (not the fault of the staff though). My husband returned to the bar 4 times to try and pay for a glass of wine and no one would take his money as they couldn't get the till to work. No waiter service outside (which would have been nice) and the tables outside were full of empty glasses/cups etc. Eventually we left cash on the bar for the drinks.

Das man in einem 5*Hotel für einen Espresso aus der Maschine extra zahlen muss, finde ich schon etwas kleinlich. Der Kaffee Americano aus der Thermoskanne war im Preis dabei. Auch Latte Macchiatto etc. kosten extra. Das Check-out war absolut chaotisch. Es ist gerade eine Gruppe mit 30 Leuten oder so gekommen und es waren nur 2 Mitarbeiter am Check-in und sie schienen ziemlich hilflos. Der Consièrge war nicht in der Lage, das Check-out zu übernehmen. Erst nach mehrmaligem Nachfragen, hat das dann für uns und andere Personen geklappt.

The location of the Hotel couldn't be better, with the Bus Station just up the road plus you are with in a stones throw of the City Centre from the Bus Station. The Room was good with a Bath and Shower plus the views from our Balcony were beautiful, looking over the Harbour. The Room we had booked was a Room with a Partial Seaview and it was situated on Floor 7. The Breakfast was excellent with lots of different choices, from a Good Fry up to Cereals and Croissants.

Location in Valletta is amazing. The staff at the reception desk is helpful and can accommodate even if you don’t speak English. From the outside the hotel looks nice and luxurious.

I wouldn’t stay at this hotel again. The money is not worth it and the hotel was booked for one main reason - program during New Year’s Eve, which didn’t happen for us because of… I still even don’t know why…. The staff at the bar would not clean the table unless you go directly to them and tell them - they wait for you to come. It would take at least 20 minutes of wait for your drinks to arrive and this happens even if the bar is not busy. The breakfast is the same everyday, nothing special you can look forward to. After couple days you can skip some and won’t mind at all. After more than one hour!!! of waiting in line to check-in, a big disappointment was a room that does not meet the expectations of a 5* hotel at all. We checked out 2 days early and booked an earlier flight, bc the weather forecast for the next 2 days wasn’t good and we couldn’t imagine staying at the hotel or in the small room for next 2 rainy days.

Great breakfast, big room, very friendly and competent staff. The location is an easy walk into Valletta and, apart from they have weddings (Saturdays in the summer, +?) it is very quiet. That is quite different from Valletta which is hellishly noisy with street music every night! The Phoenicia is better, but the Excelsior is half the price - good value for a 5 star hotel. Super pool and gymn, with a 5 am opening and late night closing.

The decoration is clean, but really old-fashioned.

Séjour parfait grâce à un personnel d’un grand professionnalisme et je les remercie tous (de la réception, du restaurant et du ménage). Ils nous ont permis de passer un très agréable séjour dans ce bel hôtel (nous y sommes déjà venus deux fois) et tout est toujours aussi parfait. Petit- déjeuner face à la mer, piscine extérieure même en novembre, propreté de la chambre.

Rien à voir avec l’hôtel mais avec les clients qui mettent leur téléphone en haut-parleur …Il existe des oreillettes pour ne pas déranger les autres!

I was waiting for 3 hours (arrived at noon) for my room to check in The reception was not very accommodating and in the bathroom was left a dirty towel There were holes in the window sheers I was asked for a 100 Euro security deposit (which had never ever happened to me before) that was to be returned after checkout. I still didn't receive it back and after several phone calls I was told I could expect it in 2-4 weeks time

The location is in walking distance to the the city center. The staff is very friendly.

Overall this hotel is very old fashioned and it is NOT a 5star hotel. The cleanliness in the bathroom is doubtful. The toilet flushing was not working. The bed mattress and pillows are extremely sift. The breakfast quality is very poor despite good choice. The coffee at breakfast is terrible. The price is horrendous given the level of overall quality of the hotel.
