We stayed in a studio which had a balcony and a kitchenette, which suited all our needs

The wait staff at the Jova hotel restaurant, I thought could have been a bit more hospitable. At least smiled, maybe?

The new owners of mar azul didn’t know if we had paid for breakfast and said they would find out and let me know. Absolutely no contact from them.

I didn’t like the fact that I wasn’t informed that mar azul was under new ownership. If I knew the original owners weren’t there I would never have booked a room especially when I found out they owned the big hotel and restaurant that we had a family meal at ,a birthday celebration and it was ruined by the total lack of care and courtesy.the food was awful ,my friend who is a butcher advised me that my steak WAS NOT FILLET STEAK as advertised. It was inedible which I pointed out to the manager at that time service was not good at all and some of the food was not even hot .The said manager (a lady ) listened to our complaints and without answering us turned away and walked off . A very very rude gesture. I was appalled that these people had taken over what was a lovely business and I would never stay there again .

The location.

Everything else. This is not a hotel, this is a bedsit. There are no staff on site, you have to check in/out at another hotel 5 minutes walk away. The owners of this "hotel" have retired and the proprietors of the Jova Hotel look after the Mar Azul day to day. The lobby of the hotel is dated and has no A/C. There are no facilities here to have breakfast, you have to go to Jova. The decor in general is dated. Our beds were uncomfortable. For the money charged I would expect a better standard and to be told up front that there are no staff on site. When we asked for an iron and ironing board we were told a board was not available and that we could either carry the iron back ourselves or wait until the next day and a cleaner would drop it off. There was no kettle in the room and again when asked, one could be supplied but it would have to wait for the cleaners to bring the next day. No mugs or tea/coffee were available. We were paying a minimum of €120 a night and the basics were not available. The A/C regularly leaked during our stay, we put towels down to soak up the water and when we alerted the staff we were told to monitor it...The cleaners were the only staff we would see and were friendly. The location was excellent but we would only stay here again if the hotel was completely refurbished and...staffed. The staff at the other hotel were friendly enough but you do not feel like you're their customer.

The room was OK nothing more. Not very comfortable but sufficient for a one night stay. Not great value and not very comfortable.

Checkin for this hotel is not on the premises but 200 metres further down the road. In 40+ degree heat this was not very agreeable when it was also so difficult to park.

no reception. had to walk 200 metres down the road to another hotel to get the key. no good when you have walking difficulties and walk with a stick.

Location is perfect at 50 metres from the beach of Campello, rooms are small and simple but very clean and with good matresses. Check-in needs to be done in another hotel at 200 metres, staff very friendly and helpful.

Nice small hotel next street from the beach; we even had some partial sea view from our balcony. Big public parking at the shopping mall nearby (for 3 eur per day). Helpful staff; feels like family-run hotel: although not new but well maintained. Cozy clean rooms with all the necessary amenities. Beach was nice too
