Location close to the rail stay
Had to move room as door lock was not secure

Breakfast didn't seem organised, only my daughter was eating, we waited 35 mins for 1 cooked breakfast and 1 pot of tea I had to chase it up as it was going to make us late, this was 7.30 on a Sunday morning and we seemed to be the only ones down there at that time.
No bath plugs, waited nearly an hour for them to get one for us, no bins in bathroom, TV didn't work, no tea and coffee in room. No room service. No telephone to call reception. (3rd floor) we had to go up and down quite a bit.

Charming old hotel in the heart of town with friendly staff and owners. Food was lovely and reasonably priced. Would definitely come back again.
Nothing I can think of.

Lovely welcome, great location.
Told on arrival about the disco in the hotel bar and was then given a room directly above. Below us was also the courtyard where people gathered to smoke and socialise until 3am. Having a large gap in the window frame, meant we were unable to sleep. We then discovered that the remote control for the TV was missing, so couldn't even watch TV.
After approximately 3 hours sleep, a member of staff decided to clean up in the courtyard at 6-30 am, waking us up.
We decided to get up and go home.
We won't be returning.

Lots! Beautiful historic hotel with fascinating history that the friendly and welcoming staff were only too happy to tell us about when we asked. The beds were super comfortable, the staff were exceptional and the full English breakfast was one of the best we have had. Just the right amount of ingredients, all great quality and locally sourced and cooked perfectly.

Great Breakfast and evening meal and see below.
Wonderful old coaching house, the dining room restaurant is a historical gem with it's oak beam and timbers.
Property throughout is a little cold, but I understand why, heating costs in the UK are currently bonkers, and to keep a property of this size heated throughout would be very challenging for the business. The room I stayed in, which was very nice and comfortable and the wi-fi worked, did have an electric heater which managed to keep the bedroom warm. The heat losses are challenging for this type of building fabric.

There was nothing to like about this place the staff members were intoxicated didn't have a clue how to sort a room out waited 10 hours and still no room sorted so we left never felt so uncomfortable around people, they were clearly under the influence of alcohol if not something else , I think it should be removed from the booking site its not fit for purpose 😒

Quiet sleep.
No key or lock on the door! No wifi, no soap, dirty unusable kettle, no one around to speak to, back door open all night presumably due to no keys being available. I appreciate it is cheap but lock on the door a necessity.

Unable to provide an answer for this question as there are no positive points to the hotel
The rooms were insecure unable to lock the room door, came back to find my personal belongings from my suitcase across the bed and the cleaner had stolen a number of items. Reported to management, promised a refund of the room due to refusing to stay there. This still hasn't happened.

They take cash and then take the money again via booking.com
The CEO doesn't reply to letters of complaint

nothing to like about the property
as I entered my room it was cold and there was an electric heater in the room which worked for 2 minutes before cutting out there was also a condom wrapper on the floor what could only be described as semen stains on the bed as well as what looked to be ink stains on the sheet and the wardrobe was pulled from the wall revealing a inch think layer of dust
3.4
Very welcoming staff and manager.
3.4
Very bad run down place , there is nothing what so ever to like about this place .
The rooms looks like their not fit to stay in , extremely dirty , broken bed , tv with no control , tea and coffee no mugs , lights don't work , door never shut right , I stayed about an hour , that was enough for me ,
Way to much to fit into this .
My only mistake was not complaining earlier , and not taking photos , but I couldn't wait to leave
3.4
Nothing really
Room was dirty and whole hotel cold. No heating on anywhere.

I would like to bring to your attention the unacceptable quality and experience of staying at the Talbot Hotel Saturday29th January. I do on this not make a habbit of complaining however, on this occasion I feel that it is necessary. I have stayed in many Hotels and the Talbot to date has been my worst experience. Below are some of the reasons I need to bring to your attention.
No rubbish bin in room (went down stairs to reception and given a plastic paint tub as a substitute bin)
No WIFI (told it had been stolen)
No soap or shower gel.
Two tea bags and no milk
No toilet paper
Batteries flat in TV remote
cold room no heating (even though I'd brought this to the managers attention)
noise from people outside my window
missing and torn lino in the bathroom.
Can I also bring to your attention that during the night, a man kicked the door open and enter my room. He apologised and left the room. As a result, the catch on the door had been broken and was unable to shut.
