I stayed two nights at El Chasqui and it was a great find. Its a walk up the hill from the train station and easily found on the corner of the main street. Check in was easy, English was spoken and staff were friendly. The room was facing the inside courtyard, the bed was comfy, everything spotlessly clean and at night very quiet. The location is central for everything, restaurants and shop are all around and the Ollantaytambo Sanctuary is opposite. I was catching an early train to Machu Picchu so the hotel provided a complimentary packed lunch for me. Breakfast is provided in the coffee shop next door (2 fried eggs + bread, coffee and juice). I would definitely recommend El Chasqui to anyone visiting Ollantaytambo, you won't be disappointed.

Muchos temas:
1. No cumple con lo que publicita en booking, no tiene calefacción y tampoco un snack bar o similar, si se quería una taza de mate de coca cobraban, y preguntamos por la calefacción y nos dijeron que era 20 soles y que solo se podía conectar por 20minutos.
2. La tapa del inodoro estaba rota y nos lo levantaron como observación al dejar la habitación y querían que lo paguemos.
3. El desayuno se sirve en un local del costado que se demoraron bastante en atendernos y de muy mala gana.
4. Al momento de pagar, como iba a pagar con tarjeta, me indicaron que su POS no aceptaba otra moneda que no fuera soles, haciendo un tipo de cambio ellos mismos.
No volvería por ningún motivo y no lo recomendaría a nadie.

Angela was so considerate and packed breakfast for us because we were leaving before the hotel breakfast began. This was so nice and unexpected, and we sure needed that food during our excursion!

- The Receptionist during check-in (an older gentleman) was friendly and helpful.
- The room was clean.
- I liked the breakfast served in the restaurant next door (included in the booking fee).
- Do not expect a mountain or garden view from your room (even though, it is specified in the booking option). For a mountain view, you need to go upstairs to the common balcony from the courtyard.

Very clean hotel located at the perfect spot. The lady at the front desk was very helpful and friendly. Breakfast is included and is at the cafe downstairs. Very very good breakfast.
One guy took a 30min long phone call in the courtyard and was heard probably by the entire hotel. So soundproofing is not the best but not a big deal

The bed was comfortable and there was HOT water for shower but the noise level was so high both nights I stayed. The 1st night there was huge group that put their chairs OUTSIDE their rooms and chatted in the hallway until very late, why not go to a local restaurant, it's not like that isn't the ONLY thing to do at night in town? The manager should of spoken with them out of courtesy for other guests. The 2nd night a HUGE school load of KIDS came in (age 6/7) and not only were they loud but the manager put them in rooms all around me even when there were plenty of OTHER rooms to use AND they got up and left from 3am to 4am.
The owner/manager's face is a perma-frown and any and all noise reverberates around the halls. Do not recommend.
Noise, non-friendliness of owner or any of the people that worked there. For a 2-star hotel in the middle of town that was supposed to be better than small hostels down dark alleys, it was a really bad 2 days.

Very clean floor and bathroom. Amazingly soft and fresh smelling towels. Nice firm bed. Simple but excellent breakfast made-to-order with freshly squeezed juice and a proper coffee machine.

room was very clean, shower was very hot, simple breakfast with egg, bread, juice and tea/coffee. many blankets which were a bit heavy but definitely keeps you warm. good location, very short walk from plaza de armas and very short walk to archaeological site of Ollayantaytambo and pinkuyllena.

The location is great. The room was clean, safe and secure. The bed was comfortable and the shower had plenty of hot water.
The breakfast was a little late, and no coffee or tea until they opened the restaurant next door at 7:30.

Eggs, juice, coffee, and semi-stale rolls at a small cafe next door - it wasn't bad, except that the rolls were probably from the day before
BEDBUGS!!! Room 205 most probably has bedbugs. I searched for signs of them, but didn't see any. I however was covered in insect bites (25-30) in the morning after going to bed with none. The bites are in clusters and lines which is a sign of bedbugs. They did not come from my previous hotel (I was there for many nights with no signs or bites). The room also needs a lot of maintenance (peeling paint - sink pulling away from wall). To top it off, the boss lady tried to short change me 10 soles. She actually tried to tell me that I was wrong and that the girl really had given me the correct change the night before even though the girl had apologized the night before for not having enough change and told me that she would give me my 10 soles in the morning. Bedbugs can happen anywhere, but don't dare tell me that my memory is wrong about getting the right change or not. I would not stay there again even if my only other option was sleeping in the street.
