Great location, great house, great experience

It was great to be right on the water for every sunset. We snorkled in the backyard, it was so nice to be home after getting out of the water and be able to take a hot shower! We had a great time and were sad to leave! We would stay here again!

The view of the water is unbeatable! Our favorite part was sitting on the porch with a book in hand, listening to the water. There are windows and new sliding glass doors surrounding the living and dining room to maximize the view. The size of the home was perfect for our needs. While we did not use the kitchen much, it appeared to be well-stocked. The bedrooms have air-conditioning units that cool the rooms nicely. The house offers a great location, with many surrounding beaches. We spent a lot of time at Rainbow Beach, just down the road. It's a stunning beach, and we often had it to ourselves. It is an easy drive to other settlements on the island (and easy to get a rental car). The owners were very accommodating and provided great recommendations that enhanced our stay. We will certainly be back! Until next time, Eleuthera!

The kitchen was well stocked for anything you want to do. The rental included some beach items which were quite nice to have (chairs, cooler, umbrella). The WiFi was good and worked well. We did not turn the TV on as we had a picture perfect view out the window. The air conditioners were some of the most quiet we have ever had in a hotel or vacation rental.The rental did have a water issue on our first day and a half where the water would only turn on for 15 seconds then turn off by itself. We tried to contact the owners with very little response, then the other contact people. It seemed the only people concerned were the Eleuthera Vacation Rentals. When fixed the water worked well. The shower faucet handle also fell off the first time we turned it so we used pliers to turn the water on and off till I located an Allen /key to re-attach the handle.Other than those issues we enjoyed the rental and all its amenities.

Keep your expectations in check. An older property in need of repairs and facelift. Liked Rainbow Bay very much. Beautiful view. Very good communication with local caretaker/ owner?. Will try another property next visit.

The location was perfect. Not too far from ELH, plenty of things to do within a short drive. View is unparalleled, though the sourhern exposure offers no shade at this time of year because the sun is lower than the deck cover (just FYI) Owners were very responsive and lovely. Kitchen had all the equipment we needed for basic meals. Roku TV allowed us access to Netflix to watch a movie one night. Plenty of linens, bed was firm and comfortable. From shore we loved watching the jellyfish float by and the fish swimming and jumping. Even some dolphins passed in the distance. We opened coconuts from the yard and owners left fresh cut flowers that lasted all week and a list of things to do. Good library, bug spray, sunscreen and sunglasses, if you forget. The only thing i might have liked were chairs for the beach/shoreline patio, but that didn't take away from out perfect stay! So relaxing! Side note, next time I would bring non-perishable food items that I might want. Groceries selections are very limited and can be pricey. Restaurants are as well, I'm sure, for the same reason.

While this is an older home it had everything we needed - it is large and spacious with a well stocked kitchen and new washer and dryer. The views out of our bedroom and the living room were amazing ! If you don't want to lounge around the house watching the ocean Rainbow Bay is close by with a nice sheltered beach and excellent snorkeling. Points to the north and south are easy to reach too. The grocery store is basically right on the other side of Queen's highway. We got food from Mel's and the excellent rum cake from Cravings bakery both in James Cistern. The house has plenty of bug spray and baby oil if noseeums are out, but the ocean breeze on the ocean deck kept them away for the most part. We were sad to leave Eleuthera and our house on the ocean at the end of our visit. Thank you Robin & Eliza for letting us stay in your house !

Reviewer Comments: Upon arrival, the owners happened to be there finishing up with putting together a new outdoor gas grill, which was broken in well during our stay, with our fresh fish daily! Robin and Eliza were a delight, Robin being a native from Eleuthera born and raised and Eliza a free spirit with an engaging personality! It was a welcomed introduction into island lifestyle after a very hectic trip due to problems with COVID testing and arriving a day late!

We loved gurgle and wump! While we were there, Eleuthera had unusual high winds so it was windy there, positive side of that is there were no bugs or flys! We were still able to eat our meals out on the deck. The view took my breath away . We did not swim off the pier because the water was too choppy. Rainbow 🌈 beach was a slice of heaven. Nice snorkeling, very secluded and away from the wind. The water was very calm. The home was “home” for us, dishes, silverware were high end and not cheap, I felt like I was at home. Brand new washer and dryer, again high end quality, beds were very comfortable. Beautiful walk in shower as well. The only issue we had was the outdoor grill and the owner is getting a new one. And was quick to come over to check it out and get it working for us. Would I return to Gurgle and Wump? In a heartbeat! Robin we will be returning, thank you for opening your home to us.

So many wonderful things to say about Gurgle and Whump! This super charming beach home provided so much; a great location, beach chairs/snorkeling gear, cooking supplies, bug repellents and more. We snorkeled right in front of the house and saw so many different kinds of fish, coral and starfish! The house is a little weathered from the sea but overall it is wonderful and made us feel safe and right at home. The hosts are fantastic at helping with any questions you may have and getting back to you right away. I can tell they pour a lot of love into this. My husband and I highly recommend Gurgle and Whump for your next Eleuthera stay!

This property is poorly maintained inside and out. Pillows, mattresses, linens smellled like every tourist that’s ever been there. The furniture for the main room is NOT there. Cheap wicker instead. Air conditioning only works well in guest room. Rest of house too hot without it. Screens missing. Stains on floors. Mold, mildew, holes in walls. Beautiful swimming out the back door. Wouldn’t recommend, as other places are in good condition for the price of this property which is in anything but good condition.

We arrived an hour early. Because of this (our fault) the housekeeper may not have swept/ cleaned the bedroom floors. Lots of hair from others and what appeared to be dog hair. Also, lots and lots of dead bugs in the window tracks. I think with a little tender loving care,, your place would be even more beautiful!!!!!

This property is set at a beautiful location. There is some privacy as the neighbors are at a distance (not 100%). We sat by the steps leading into the Carribean sea multiple times and enjoyed watching the waves. In December, we could see the sunrise and the sunset from inside the house. The location of this house, proximity to many beaches, and the view was top notch. One of the biggest bummers of our trip was sand flies or nooseums. Beware of these tiny bugs that can leave you itchy for days. They are small enough that they might be able to get through even if the doors/windows are open with screen on. So it is best to keep the doors and windows closed. We had AC in both the rooms going, so that they could cool the living room area as well. The hosts are wonderful people and were very responsive. The house water system is in a cistern well so we had an issue where the shower stopped after 5 minutes or so. We emailed the property manager and owners at night and the plumber came in next day and fixed it. They also advised us on what to do after we were heavily bit by nooseums after sitting on the sand at rainbow beach during sunset. The owners have left bug spray, baby oil (works well to keep nooseums from biting you) and many other useful things. The bed was very good, clean linens. The house was equipped with many interesting books and some games, a good pair of binoculars and snorkeling/ beach gear. The kitchen was fairly equipped (missing oil and sugar which we replenished), with a good variety of pots and pans. The bathroom could use some deep cleaning coz everything else felt upgraded and/or clean. Overall it is a lovely property. We would recommend this place to our friends with just a word of caution about nooseums which seem to be at many locations on the island during dawn and dusk.

The new washer/dryer are a great addition. We had several power outages and were glad we brought a couple of flashlights (in addition to those provided by the owners). While this is an older classic construction home in Rainbow Bay it has all the things you need to cook, go to the beach, snorkel, etc. And it sits right on the Caribbean and allows for great views, breezes & adventurous swimming/snorkeling off the rocky ledge & steps. The stars & fireflies at night are not to be missed. While there may be more modern, newer construction rentals this one had alot of charm & we really liked our time relaxing here. We had a snafu with our AC one night & the owners drove right over to help us out & brought us a hammock to use. They were so nice! Thank you Robin & Eliza!

Upon arrival the property is located in a beautiful neighborhood that is quiet. The grocery store is about a two minute drive from the house which makes things easy. The negatives about this particular property was that the Air-conditioning was less then adequate so it was super hot during the day and tolerable at night. We also found that the shower was not clean so that was an unexpected choir. There was sufficient amount of utensils to use in the kitchen which was nice. All in all with some repairs to the house and some detail to cleanliness this property would be excellent.

This was a great property to stay in on the south side of Rainbow Bay. It was very nice to have the owners on the island and easy to get in contact with. It's also very nice having Big Rock grocery right down the street and Tony is great! It was a bit stormy when we were there but the ocean was still so amazing! It was nice to be able to sit in the shade or sun on the HUGE deck or to be able to go right down to the ocean. This house only has air conditioning in the rooms but we were fine with that because the windows let a nice breeze through the house. The house has everything you need! A big cooler and little cooler. Plenty of ice cube trays and ice packs. A few condiments in the fridge, a water jug to swap out at the grocery store. A nice clothes line and clothes pin. Plenty of beach towels. Nice Tommy Bahama beach chairs. So many books to read (a TV but we didn't try it out, so not sure about it's features). All the cleaning supplies you need (we were there 10 days, so nice to have a broom and squeegee for the windows). Binoculars, wine openers. It was a great stay with great hosts and amazing views!! We loved going to the Atlantic side and definitely snorkeling at Rainbow Bay. No matter how crazy the ocean can get, rainbow bay was ALWAYS calm. It's like snorkeling in an aquarium there. We did eat at Mel's snack shack and it was great and reasonably priced! We had a drink at the beach bar across the street from it and tried the Bethel BBQ on Saturday and it was SO worth it! $13 for a giant, delicious meal! Thanks again for sharing your home!!

The location is private and the grounds are so beautiful. the open floor plan with many windows allow you to see this view almost every spot in the house. It was well stocked (including a 5 gal jug of water). Plenty of towels, kitchen ware, snorkling equipment and an awsome outdoor shower. There is a nice walkway down to the water (which is so beautiful) where you can set up chairs, fish, swim and snorkle. The water was pretty rough during our stay, but you cannot predict the weather. It didn't stop us from gettin in, just a little hard to get out of the water. When we had trouble gettin on the internet Robin and Eliza were there to troubleshoot. THey both are very nice and can give you suggestion/advice on where to go and on some history of Eleuthera. Robin even showed me how to open and enjoy a pineapple which was on the grounds. I would definately recommend Gurgle and Whump. Great value for your money. Our only concern before we arrived was there is only one bathroom, and we had four adutls. But we did not have trouble with all of us sharing, too busy trying to enjoy the view.Thank you Robin and Eliza for sharing your cottage with us.
