Let erop dat er wel wat administratie vooraf geregeld moet worden, dus zeker de mails die je ontvangt goed lezen. Maar het is het zo waard, wat een geweldig appartement!

Too impersonal (many emails and codes to get access) and when we had contact with the host she was rather rude and insensitive to us.

Stylish centrally located place, that is clean, cosy and well kept.

The sewerage smell in the bedroom that woke me up. The parfumed air upon arrival disappeared after hours. Staff did not report what they do about the smell.

That I was able to access and leave the property by myself, once I arrived there.

The adress in the email, giving me the access codes was actually WRONG, it lead me to a property about 2 Kilometers away, in the rain, on foot, carrying rather heavy luggage. Which I had to walk again, getting back. I wasn't amused. (and soaked to the bone upon arrival at the correct address after phoning with the owner). Maybe just call the owner quickly to confirm address BEFORE heading out.

We want to be very fair with this review. The City Penthouse Mademoiselle Anna Louise is a lovely lovely apartment in Leeuwarden. It is not a hotel. My wife stayed 22 days. A perfect location, a balcony that allows you air (but little view). Our issues with this transaction lie with management. First when we inquired about an iron and ironing board the reply was there is none but they would get one if desired. As the stay was 3 weeks we said thank you, yes, one would be needed. It was not clear, and we did not ask, who pays for the iron and board. Well, we did. Oh, you can take it with you, they said. Very very odd that such a property would not already have these items. At the end of her stay my wife gave the items to our daughter, in university in Leeuwarden. Recommend owners provide an iron and ironing board in future. Next – House rules: Being picky but the tone of the English language House Rules email was quite rude for a long term rental. “Check-out You can stay till 11 a.m. Our staff will be there between 11.00 - 11.05 a.m. If you are still in the appartment after 11.00 a.m. we have to charge extra costs. We charge 1,00 euro per minute. Camera...It is not allowed to invite family, friends or other people. We are not an extension of a community center, restaurant or nightclub. It is also forbidden to invite prostitutes and the use of drugs. We report immediately. Our access doors are equipped with cameras.” (I guess that means they are spying on you?) “When you need anything at all.. Call us or send us an email... we are there for you 24/7” (We considered cancelling as we found the tone of the rules so draconian but it was too late for a refund.) Beyond that: We contacted management numerous times for garbage pickup, fresh linens(twice) – it never happened when they said it would. They did change the linens once – a day later than promised. Our daughter took the garbage with her 3 times when she could as management had not come as they said they would. We have an email asking for M/W/F pickup that simply didn’t happen. Building repairs – Owner showed up once unannounced to show workers work they wanted done. Workers showed up unannounced on two occasions while my wife was still sleeping. Netflix – Excellent. Until it stopped working. At which point owners did not come to make repair – they said “Take a picture of the lights on the box downstairs and send to us.” Did that, and never heard from again. Never came back on. Used our own account instead. Surely we created some of the communications misunderstandings in a country where my wife and daughter speak no Dutch and English is a second language. Still, management should make a far better effort. Essentially a comedy of errors over and over. But a lovely apartment. Go, and be self-sufficient. You will have a great time.
