the weather was bad so hard to enjoy it in the rain we left early for the city due onto to the weather as across Brazil the service in outside of Portuguese is very challenging

The room was well appointed and comfortable. The room was spotless and cleaned to perfection every day. The pool area is beautiful although when we first arrived it was dirty and very crowded with lots of smokers and a crying toddler. The breakfast was beautiful and healthy but somewhat bland. The staff was friendly and helpful even though service, especially during dinner, was slow.

The music playing throughout the property was all over the place... jazz, 80s rock, chill, rap. Some of the music that the hotel played did not compliment the setting. The service during dinner was slow and the food (except for the pizza and some of the breakfast selections) wasn't very good. The menu is simple and there were a few items that were not available. From what we could tell, the owners of the hotel were having the same issues. It appeared they were entertaining their own friends and they (a woman, man and a girl) were constantly running in and out of the kitchen and the bar without masks. There was also some confusion with our room. We booked a room with a balcony but they tried to give us a room on the first floor saying that it was the same thing. Eventually a room with a balcony was given to us but this botched check-in got our stay off to somewhat of a rocky start. The property also allows smoking outdoors and because the pool area is relatively small, there was no escaping all of the smokers during the first two days of our stay. During the first day of our stay there was a kid who was screaming and crying. He also went pee all over the wooden staircase and landing. I notified the staff of this but the pee was left for hours before someone cleaned it up. The first day of our 4 night stay was not ideal. We found this hotel on Monocle magazine so our expectations were high. This hotel is good but not worthy of a write up in the Monocle. The location of this hotel is in the middle of an industrial park. The beach below the hotel is small and dirty. You definitely need a car to drive to nearby beaches.
