I've stayed before, I go to the Scott Trial and look for somewhere like Bedale which is close. The place has been renovated to a high standard, well done and immaculate. Liked the way the shower ran hot from the start. I had the beef chilli, slow to start but really good and hot after a couple of mouthfuls.

Very good breakfast . Food was hot . Lovely room and bed very comfortable

The stairs were steep especially as we were on the top floor But nothing can be done about that The radiator did not work , so no heat in the room . An emergency plumber was called out on the Saturday evening . On the Sunday morning no one was aware if the plumber had been or not . Would have been nice if we were asked if we had been alright with no heating as it had been a cold night , or if they had a small portable heater that could have been given to us . Towels were left outside our room on the saturday . The key to our room was lost !! so the cleaner couldn’t get in to do our room .

The cooked breakfast was very good. Served hot and a full plate Staff were very helpful and pleasant

I didn't dislike anything

Pretty little Georgian town on the old A1. Attractive old coaching inn from the outside. Pleasant staff. Room immaculate and well appointed (if a little cramped). Good breakfast.

Interior of the bar and restaurant rather characterless. Sunday lunch disappointing, meat warmed up, veg overcooked.

Staff were friendly and the food was good. General atmosphere was homely. Generally a good place to stay.

The parking front of the hotel required a "disc", which the premises were willing to supply, but they and the local council expected everyone to know about this before you arrived, thus i was unprepared and didn't know what was actually wanted upon arrival. thankfully they had an agreement with the neighbouring pub to be able to park in their car park. I don't think I will be visiting that town again because of this (I have already booked to make the same trip I was on for next year, so this is a lost sale thanks to the Council).

Centrally located Great hosts and welcoming staff who were very friendly. Rooms are spacious, modern and very clean and the full English breakfast to that and you have your perfect stay 👏👏
