The lake view is amazing. The home was very clean and had all the amenities to be comfortable. Also the directions and information about having a 4 wheel drive was helpful. Definitely would come back in the Spring or Summer months.

Right on the lake, this house checked every box for us. We loved the wall of windows looking over the lake and also the location was perfect for wineries, Watkins Glen, hiking and many other activities.

We had a lovely time waking up to the sunrise through the trees, touring wineries and hiking at Watkins Glen before coming back to the house and cooking dinner in the well equipped kitchen. The house definitely checked all of our boxes for a weekend getaway in beautiful surroundings.

We loved the view from the decks and the sliding glass doors. It was not too far from Watkins Glen Park or downtown. The road in was definitedly dicey but doable. All the appliances were high quality, however could use some directions on how to use.

This rental was exactly as it was pictured! I how the side facing the lake was all glass doors so you had the lake view out every window!

Great place to stay near all the restaurants & wineries. The views of the lake are amazing. The house was modern and clean. It had everything you could need and more. We will definitely stay again.

Nice house in a very quiet neighborhood. Bed sheets were a little dirty but we had brought our own anyway. 4wd is highly recommend. Long winding stone road downhill to get to the house. View was great. Ceiling fan in bedroom didnt work. House made for a nice long weekend getaway.

Honestly, I had mixed emotions about my stay. Yes the house was very nice and clean, but way too overpriced. I understand there were expensive fixtures, but not necessary as it is the house that should be the main price point. The dock is nice, but is really only for swimming, there is nowhere to put in paddleboards or kayaks. When you go down to the dock, there are multiple houses and another set of stairs right on your property (not shown in pictures) there is a house right on top of the vacation home as well. Also, it is off the beaten path, so not good for someone wanting to go explore because there is nothing around and hard to get to the house. We had multiple problems with lights (not working) and the bathroom door being very difficult to open and close. It was very hard to sleep at night due to the loud noises of heaters turning off and on. My main concern is that I had to leave early due to wildfire smoke from Canada coming into New York. I absolutely understand that this is not the homeowner's fault, but I inquired about a partial refund and they said no (at least they reply quickly). The house smelled of smoke and the outside smelled of burning. This is a health concern (no air purifier). The house should not even have been rented out at this time for the safety of the guests. I would have liked a partial refund (because we did stay a night), or a different date reinbursment. Overall, not very private, not comfortable, and disappointed in the services.

Little trouble finding lock box, but everything was great!

The house was clean and well maintained. The view is magnificent and having multiple decks to enjoy it was a plus. Unfortunately, accessibility to the rest of the house from the upper bedroom was a challenge, especially at night, due to outdoor stairs. After spending the first night in the upstairs bedroom, my wife decided we needed to sleep downstairs (more comfortable bed and larger bathroom downstairs). Also, there was no internet reception upstairs. Theupstairs area probably needs a wifi extender as the signal seems to be blocked by the metal house construction. Other than that we had a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Avant Garde to celebrate our anniversary. The house is one of a kind, very clean and well appointed and comfy. The kitchen is amazing and has everything you could possibly need to create a fabulous meal…The views of Seneca Lake outside the entire back of the house are beautiful. It’s location is perfect for exploring the surrounding areas. Close enough to everything including wineries, breweries, restaurants and of course outdoor activities, like hiking at Watkins Glen. The fall foliage was pretty much at peak, which is what we were hoping for. We would love to return again in summer months to take advantage of the beautiful lake… we only walked down the stairs to the shoreline once but would have loved to spend more time by the firepit and play in the water. We hope to return again, maybe with some friends next time. One of the best places we’ve stayed at through VRBO/VACASA.

Definitely a new favorite getaway! The house was in a gorgeous location and the perfect nature feel. It was bright in the mornings without curtains but not a big deal if you’re a dawn riser! Not to mention the sunrises are incredible.

The separate bedroom upstairs gave our youngest their own space. It was about an hour to Cornell but the drive is so pretty! The house was clean and the check in and check out procedure was easy. Extra bonus for the washer and dryer in the unit. The drive down the hill to the house gave an extra flair to the vacation.

Fantastic views, great deck and kitchen. Centrally located to wineries, waterfalls, and Watkins Glenn. Gravel road was steep and did not realize stairs to 2nd floor bedroom was outside. Overall super house and would highly recommend.

This is a beautiful home in a fantastic location. It has its quirks, but these little inconveniences add to the adventure. The home is very clean and the staff do a good job despite the challenge of the location. Access to the home, and the lake, is not for the faint of heart, but the journey is sure worth it!

Beautiful view. Stocked with all the essentials. Unpaved road down to place and house is very secluded. Quiet and peaceful environment.

Great house. Nicely appointed and beautiful views

The house is tucked away off the beaten path, but still close to get breweries, wineries, and eateries. Even before we went in the house we went down to the water. It was amazing. We quickly ran up to the house ( all 75 steps) to change into our swim suits. From swimming to sitting (inside or out) it was beautiful and peaceful. We also met the neighbor, super nice guy fun to talk to.

The house is very comfortable and modern. There’s a full kitchen and an amazing deck to have coffee and eat your meals while looking over the lake. You need to bring your own lake amenities. We had our own beach chairs to use on the dock, floaters, kayaks, SUP. Best for ages 10+. The second bedroom is accessible from the outside. We were in the lake each day and due to a rainstorm we had access to nearby waterfalls on the lake. We had a great trip!

We had no hot water for good stretches of our stay and our property manager was in no rush to help us. The house is in a good location though
