The cabin is as advertised but could use a deep clean and some basic maintenance. Two of the ceiling fans are so poorly mounted that they wobble to the point of looking like they will fly off their mounts. There's two clothes washers and two dryers but one of each doesn't work, with no sign indicating which ones do work. The hot tub water needed to be changed as there was dirt and a bandaid floating in the bottom. The windows are getting old and can fall out of their sashes. My 76-year-old mother was hit in the head late at night by the bathroom window as she was trying to close it. Had some poor communication with the property management company, Deadwood Connections. The listing said no wifi but when I checked someone replied there was wifi (unfortunately we needed to be online for work). When I got the check-in information a few days before our booking it stated "no wifi" so I asked again and this time the answer was that there has never been wifi at this cabin and the previous response was an error. It's an understandable mix up or mistake and we were credited $200 for the issue but the next response of, "just hotspot from your phone" was less than helpful. There is only 1-2 bars of service with Verizon at this location and we would have had to drive into town for our online meetings except my brother luckily had a verizon hotspot that got slightly better signal once we found a good location for it high up in the house. Still... overall a great place.

We had a wonderful stay at the Whitetail Lodge. It is quiet and peaceful and there is something for everyone to do. There is so much to see in the surrounding area. We love the Blackhills!

The rental was very nice. Could have used another bathroom. The location was good, but the noise from the highway and all the 4-wheelers was not good.

Place was great location, very easy check in process. Driveway needs to be bigger & a bathroom downstairs but overall an excellent stay! Would recommend for large family or group of friends.

Overall our stay was ok. Sharing the good and not so good --- in our opinion. The pool table, foosball table and hot tub were enjoyed. Hot tub could use some maintenance as only half the jets were working and none of the lights were working while we were there. Not a big deal but there is very little space around the hot tub for anyone to sit and visit with others while in the hot tub. The deck was a great place to hang out but there was LOTS of loud 4-wheelers / side-by-sides in the area during our stay which was quite annoying. The kitchen was pretty well equipped but no cooking sheet to use and the coffee pot was VERY slow. There was only 9 real forks to use which was not a big problem but not even one a piece for the amount of persons they allow to stay at one time. Also a note to "not use the dishwasher as it leaks" was on the counter when we got there --- which put a damper on our time as we had to do dishes several times --- even when we used paper plates to eat from. The bedrooms were ok. We all like harder beds than they provide but ok. The loft was a great place for some of the kids but it is not private at all. The location was nice as close to lots of visitor destinations --- but also very close to main road so some noise from that. The cleaning person you text when you leave was not updated and got ahold of a person that no longer works for this management company so had to contact them directly --- which was not a bit deal but shouldn't have happened. Although we all survived without WiFi --- it would be a great addition to this property. Also know that the phone service is very poor here --- as it is in most of the HIlls area. Not a lot of towels for the amount of persons they allow to stay at the cabin. The only grass area on one side of the cabin was a bit uneven and slanted -- the kids had a great time playing catch, etc. Overall the experience was ok but we would not use it again for OUR family gathering.

This is a great find! It's huge and beautiful and location is awesome! Had more room than we needed. There are so many beds. The wrap around deck is awesome to have your morning coffee and just hang out! Will definitely stay again!

The Lodge was perfect for our family get away. We enjoyed many nights on the porch and in the hot tub. Very quiet setting yet close enough to grab dinner in Deadwood or go hiking in the Spearfish canyon. Would highly recommend to anyone.

Very nice. Felt like we were staying in the wilderness. Lots of trees and privacy. Enjoyed the hot tub with private back yard.

The house was just the right size for our grown family. The location was perfect for the activities we wanted to do. The wrap around deck was nice to have. A bathroom in the lower level would have been more convenient.

We had an excellent stay at whitetail lodge, it comfortably fit our group of 14 with room to spare. We enjoyed the spacious patio and the hot tub. Close to town and easy access to other area attractions. Would highly recommend this property for a larger group!

Our family of 11 enjoyed our time at the cabin. There was plenty of room for everyone and we really enjoyed the deck and game room!

Had a great time at this property! The only thing I would recommend for the property management is to supply better items in the kitchen. For an example the house sleeps 16 and there was 11 forks. We needed to to go store and buy plastic ones to feed our whole group. Also the pots and pans were old and warped. Oh and the knives are so dull they won't cut anything. We made everything work...but the stay in this home would be so much better if all the items were replaced. The showers also did not drain well, so it was really gross after we all went riding ATVs all day. Other then that the beds were comfortable and the space worked great for the 13 people. The patio is awesome to hang out on! Had some amazing memories here and if I needed to have a house this big again..I would go back.

Location was close enough to attractions, but far enough away that it was quiet. If you bring pets with, i'd keep them out of the basement as mine was infatuated with smelling the carpets down stairs but had no issues on the ground level or the upstairs. Another in pur party mentioned wishing the grass was cut, but the kids had fun playing in the yard and the pool table and hot tub were great evening activities. Ac seems to only be ok the ground level, so keep the doors open and fans going during the day to cool off bedrooms. We missed the part where there was no wifi, but that meant more time together and less buried in electronics. Others in our party mentioned the beds werent the most comfortable as well. And the showers drain slow. And the previous renters didnt clean the grill, so we bought some of those copper sheets to use on the grill. This sounds like a lot of negatives, but we did really enjoy our stay and i would recommend this rental to others. There's plenty of seating in the kitchen to have huge sit down meals, same goes out on the deck, which also has a locking gate to keep pets & children contained. There's a fire pot in the back and a large yard to play in. And plenty of seating in the livingroom if you want to watch a movie together. And i'd say parking for 4ish vehicles in the driveway.

Great property and very close to deadwood and terry peak. We had a group of 16 and we all had plenty of room. Found a couple broken things around house upon arrival but was able to let management know right away and am sure they will have it handled. Other than that a really cool property

A great week chasing turkeys in the Black Hills.

We had an amazing vacation in the beautiful black hills thanks to the central location of this property. Even two days of heavy snow weren’t a problem. Neighbors and neighborhood plow crew were fantastic and helpful. The house was spacious and accommodating to our large group of 14. We will stay here again!

We had a wonderful stay and were pleasantly surprised at how spacious the cabin was. It has a very well thought out floor plan, was very clean and lots of little extras! The pool table, foosball table and hot tub were great!

Is a great place for friends to gather. Clean with lots of room. Tv channels were very limited if you what to watch any sporting events.

Smooth process to rent the property with two payment option. Only hiccup was not receiving the code for the keys to enter the cabin. Luckily we did get a callback from someone named Jerry who was super helpful and got us the code. Could use upgraded pool table and sticks but was nice amenity. Overall great experience here.

Close to the trails, great location and property. Everything just as advertised will stay again
