Staff were extremely nice, location perfect and able to have a nice visit with my daughter.

The breakfast was delicious and the rooftop area was really stunning. The decor in the lobby and bar area was fun and made us want to definitely hang out. The location is really in the heart of Boone, which was why we chose this property.
It wasn't clear to me when booking that there are several rooms that are in the basement and are windowless. We were assigned to one of those, and it would not have been my choice given the price we paid for the room. While it was comfortable, it was pretty weird. We felt like we were in our parents' basement that they had redone into a guest room.
Also, while a "roof-top bar" is advertised, there is not a rooftop bar. There is a really lovely rooftop seating area where there are fire pits and gorgeous views, but it is really only a seating area that offers no service.

We booked on 7/17 for 8/30-9/1, then added 8/29 as a third day. After we checked in, we found out our room was in the basement! I told them it was unacceptable and there should have been enough time to give us s decent room. The desk clerk asked if I booked through a third party like booking.com. I asked what difference that made, never got a straight answer. To make matters worse, they have a 3 day cancellation policy! So we were stuck. After calling the hotel manager at home, they did agree to move us to an acceptable room. I hate conflict, would NEVER recommend this place to anyone!
Pretty much everything

No food. Expensive drinks.

Staff.
Boutique services missing - had to ask for bathrobes, bottle of water the first day - none the second day, breakfast was disappointing given room price, Sensormatic tags on pillows, confusing parking arrangements- why no valet to handle parking?, failure to disclose room had no window at time of booking, no night clerk, no early morning clerk.

The pros: The hotel has a nice rooftop bar with good views of the town and mountain. The staff that we encountered were very friendly and nice. The location of the hotel is good as its in the middle of downtown Boone and close to several shops and restaurants that are walkable. It’s also very close to App State University
The Cons. Upon check in we were given a room in the lower level of the hotel (basement). It might be the worst hotel room that I have ever stayed in. The room and bathroom were tiny. There was almost no room to put any of our clothes etc. It was also windowless which made it feel even smaller. The noise from the lobby level was insane. We could not get a good nights sleep. I should have checked more reviews online before I booked. I would caution any customers to make sure they are not in the basement before booking. We did not stay our last night

Breakfast was good. The lady that served the breakfast was so very nice.
The inside bar was fun & the bartender had just started bartending 5 days before. She was sweet & did an amazing job!
When I called the hotel for information before deciding to stay there, I was informed that the only rooms left didn't have windows, but I would have the most amazing restful time. Sounded wonderful but that wasn't the case. I heard everyone walking on the 2nd floor above me from 5;50am till 11:00pm. Then there was the guest who brought their dog (wasn't told I'd be on the "pet friendly" floor). They left the dog in the room & that poor thing barked & whined from the time they left till the time they came back. From early morning till late evening. So needless to say, there was very little relaxing during my stay.

It was ok.
A few more options.

The staff were friendly enough. The bed was comfy. Convenient entry/exit through the basement so I didn't have to see anyone in my sad state. There was a Smart TV so I could watch my dumb little stories.
There were no windows. I can't stress enough how depressing this was. Grainy live video of downtown available on the TV did not help. No bathtub, lights too dark to even enjoy my makeup routine. Dark and sad vibe.

Basement rooms were damp and shower was too small and very dark to see. Noise from upstairs was loud.

Center of downtown
We were put in the basement with two different dogs. The dogs were left behind while the owners were out... they howled and barked for hours. No desk attendant during overnight hours. Bar was right over our room so there was incessant noise until very late.
