Needs renovations, rooms smell of humidity, hallways are dim

The curtain was broken so I couldn’t close it all the way for privacy. The room was outdated and old. I don’t think the quality was worth the price.

Loved that it was far away from the hustle and bustle of the everyday commutes.

It was very expensive for what you get. The outside property is very pretty. It's difficult to take a left out of the parking lot.

A bit dated and worn, but kept clean and in a good location (Lake Placid side of Saranac Lake).

The parking had large pot holes, the "garden" had not been tended to, all things were dead. The rooms smelt stale. The AC unit ran constantly, it never shut off. There were no towels for the pool. There was no syrup for the pancakes-waffle breakfast

I liked having the indoor pool but some kids had somewhat “trashed” the room. The breakfast left a lot to be desired. There was a nice waffle maker and donut maker but no pancake/ maple syrup. We were told to use jelly?

Convenient to our activities. Easy check in, check out, staff very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was hit-or-miss, not really that great.

Room was clean but was obviously damp, with a musty smell, that could be consistent with unseen mold. Needs to be dried out. I have a feeling the area of the hotel is not always open, but not really certain about this.

This location is pretty good proximity to white face mountain which is a must see for anyone traveling through this region.

Odors in the room

Hotel is in need of some repair. Several reviewers commented about a “moisture issue” and they would be correct. While the lobby area and hallways smelled somewhat neutral or smelled like some kind of fragrance dispenser, I was blasted with a damp, moldy/mildew smell the moment I opened the door to my room. I don’t have the best sense of smell so to those sensitive to smells it would probably be pretty terrible. Besides the moisture problems the hallways are very dim and the whole place just gives me kind of a dark and dingy vibe. For the positives, the staff was pleasant, there were no issues checking in or out, the sheets were clean and the bed was acceptable. Shower was warm with decent water pressure. There is a pool but I did not use it so I can’t comment on that. It was also cheaper than other accommodations in the area. It was OK for an overnight stay by myself but I would probably look into other options if I am ever in this area again.

We visit Saranac Lake a couple of times each year and are amazed that some of the staff remember us! They are ready to handle any special requests and do so with a smile.

Strange but comfy and clean hotel.

We’ve booked about 5 different Best Western hotels throughout the northeast over the last 4 years and this was the worst experience. The hotel was overall dirty and had a foul smell throughout. No air conditioning in the hallways. Our keycards didn’t work at first. Had to walk all the way around the property to get it reprogrammed. The rug in the room looked and smelled like it hadn’t been cleaned or steam washed in over 3 yrs. Breakfast was meh… nothing special. I don’t plan on booking this hotel on my next trip to Saranac Lake and wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

Pretty quiet and everything was clean.

Staff very friendly; breakfast included, not fancy but very convenient; pet allowed is a big plus; cleaning crew did great job. A big drawback is the facilities maintenance, in particular moisture management. We moved into a room where the carpet is partially wet, soon discovered that they did a deep cleaning for pet occupants previously (which is great), but let us in without putting enough time and effort to dry the room. The bathroom doesn’t have ventilation so each shower will increase the moisture level in the whole room; there are two water stained tiles in the bathroom. Really wish the hotel management can make a big push to get the moisture issue corrected, as many others have already mentioned.

Stayed 2 nights, room was clean, continental breakfast was simple but good, location is convenient to everything in town, my kids loved the pool but it was definitely full of chemicals as to be expected. Overall everything was as I expected it to be.
