This hotel is AMAZING!
Beautiful building in a prominent position looking out to the beach with gated parking; it has a grand presence both inside & out. Lots of options for rooms with a sea view, some with a balcony.
Helpful staff (we saw a lot of Alfredo on the main desk & he was brilliant!), everything was clean & the food fantastic.
Breakfast was a large buffet catering for different dietary requirements plus a la carte options if preferred. There was a separate bar serving cocktails; & a further dining room where we were well looked after for evening meals.
Out back is a garden & pool open during high season.
Everything is reasonably priced & no hidden extras. We'll be going back!

Absolutely fantastic. Lovely staff. Great food. Fantastic pool and pool bar. Location is great. Shops and restaurants opposite hotel. Bicycles for hire. Near train station.

Great Hotel in the centre of Viareggio. Beautiful with a great and welcoming staff. Lovely pool and bar. Wonderful breakfast buffet. We have stayed here at least 6 times and will book again for next year

We honeymooned in Viareggio 20 years ago and returned for our 20th anniversary last week. On arrival at the Grand Hotel Royal, the Receptionist said they’d upgraded us to a room with a balcony facing the seafront, which was really lovely….each evening we sat on the balcony, drinking a glass of wine before dinner and watching the world go by.
Throughout our stay, the staff were all really helpful and friendly, the food was excellent (except for the steak) and the peaceful swimming pool and bar area is like a secluded oasis, surrounded by trees that block out the neighbouring building.
If we ever return to Viareggio, we will definitely stay at the Grand Hotel Royal again!

What a place! The town has a cool Cannes vibe but nicer and less crowds. The hotel is terrific and a time capsule from the 30’s with great upgrades notably a pool. Food was great at the hotel as well. Staff friendly and accommodating

What an elegant place! Time turned back and I was living in an old movie, but with current day amenities. The staff was so professional and attentive. We had lunch at the pool, dinner at the restaurant, and the breakfast buffet. Each meal was perfect.
I haven’t felt so relaxed and comfortable since well before Covid.

Nice location close to the sea. Old hotel with furniture in need of revamping. No gym, nice swimming pool, but utilization hours of swimming pool not compatible with business travelles. Nice breakfast buffet.

What an amazing place! The grounds were just stunning and we were thrilled to have still been able to enjoy the pool in October.
Staff was very friendly and helpful. Rooms were the most spacious I have had in my 2 weeks in Europe. Bartender can whip some unique cocktails for you as well. Would definitely come again.

Lovely hotel and lovely helpful staff. Good breakfast. Lovely pool. No English tv except news. subtitles etc locked so can’t choose any other languages. Really would be good if they could provide for English people. They should be able to provide this service even if there was a pay to view option. Apart from the tv the hotel & location is fabulous!

We have stayed here many times. It is a beautiful hotel with a great staff. Love the pool, lunch at the pool, drinks at the bar, and the great and extensive breakfast. Rooms are very comfortable also.

I loved this place, felt like something from an old film. My teens were even a little "wowed" by the place. The breakfast was great, something for everyone. The pool wa great and of course access to the beach. Great place to spend 2 nights

fantastic beach hotel with large pool, excellent service staff, fantastic breakfast, and a wonderful property.
the only complaint is that the shower stall was a booth so small I could hardly move inside… and the hotel should use a lot less one-use plastic in the rooms.

Excellent staff and location and amenities. Rental bikes are available and pool area is amazing. Only complaint is be aware of the cold eggs for breakfast and cold bacon, don't know why they can't fix this. It was every morning, otherwise a rating of 10.
