A bit old and needs to be refreshed.
Staff are lovely and are doing their best to help.

We stayed on the second (third) floor. It was inaccessable by the elevator, which only went to the first (second) floor. We had to walk quite a distance from the elevator to the stairs. The carpet could be replaced.
The room itself was excellent, and as described. The grounds were amazing. The first (ground) floor was beautiful and we enjoyed the pub and the restaurant.

Andrea took great care of me and so did everyone else i loved everything here

We had an insect problem that the night manager tried to resolve but couldn't. The staff was very nice considering the dilemma
3.0
The gardens were pretty.
There was no lift access to the second floor ! They did not provide us with fans tho it was pretty warm in the room.Every amenity provided was substandard

Excellent service.

Large room. Unfortunately some noisy fan (?) somewhere.
Close by river Shannon walking path.

Our room was beautiful! And the grounds were lovely. We went on a walk on an adjacent river walk, which was so beautiful and peaceful. Breakfast was very nice as well. We drive to a restaurant (Finnegans) which was 8 minutes drive and we really loved that as well.
4.0
The hotel looked very nice and luxurious, the staff was very friendly and we got tasty breakfast. Our highlight was the stroll at the river just outside the building.

Stairs with suitcases was cumbersome.
Dated but clean and functional.
Staff (Magee, Josephine, and the young lad) were very pleasant.

This place has an air of opulence. The gardens and decor were nicely upscale for us budget travelers. We chose to spend time closer to Shannon airport before our flight after visiting the Dingle area. The leisure center with a pool and sauna were a nice surprise. The breakfast options were excellent. The bar even loaned us a bottle opener when we ordered takeaway beers. I would have liked to have stayed longer to explore the grounds. I liked the quirky details like to all the weird levels and steps in the residential area. But those with mobility issues should be warned. The lift only goes to the first floor, then you must take stairs to the upper floors. The lights on the outdoor eating area, the scriptures and the blooming flowers were peaceful and pretty. I would happily stay here again.

Beautiful property, lovely staff, delicious food

We were in the Garden apts. which have two bedrooms (I could have saved quite a bit of money had I known this). The Garden apts. were in need of a thorough cleaning, the couches were from the thirties with sagging pillows, the bathroom was in need of an overhaul and the tvs did not work. On the website, we only saw pictures of the lovely remodeled hotel. What a ripoff!

Accommodation was noisy, dirty and the bathroom was nasty. This place needs work. Also we did not find the reception staff very helpful.
We do not recommend staying at Castle Oaks House Hotel. Very disappointed.

Quiet hotel in a beautiful area next to the River Shannon. Quaint hotel that reminded us of the old style hotels, large high ceiling with beautiful ornaments. Very helpful staff and great food! All in all a very lovely stay! If you have time, do the river walk!!!

Grear hotel, very clean, good restaurant and was well looked after by the lovely Josephine, who really couldn’t do enough for you.
Would definitely return.

Beautiful country hotel. Room was newly renovated. Staff very friendly and breakfast was great.

Disappointing Overall.
●What I liked was: the free parking; breakfast was good on our first day but on our second day wasn't that good; our dinner in the restaurant/bar was good and the staff were friendly and helpful.
●What I didn't like was: the carpets on the corridors and in the bedroom were old and you can see stains in some places (needs new carpets); one of the lights in our bathroom was not working; uncomfortable spring mattress; the bathroom door was making a loud noise when you closed it and the 2 chairs in our bedroom were old and didn't look clean.
Also the gym and swimming pool are not in the hotel itself. You have to walk outside the hotel about 100 meters to get to this leisure centre were the gym and swimming pool are.
The lift was very slow, so better use the stairs.
You're better off staying at Travellodge.

Really lovely older hotel in beautiful setting in small town of castle connell -quiet and idyllic. However, without a car, reliance on train was hard since limited service to/from limerick. There did appear to be a bus between limerick and castle connell, but hard to confirm times. Hotel also had adjoining fitness ctr with gym, pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi- really great with late/early hrs. Town had limited restaurants, but hotel had restaurant. There also was a grocery in town with beer and some prepared foods that didnt need refrigeration or microwaving (since my hotel room did not have frig not microwave). Still worth it to stay here instead of in limerick!

The grounds are gorgeous, a perfect setting for a wedding. However, the instead was a little tired looking. The fire alarms went off several times and in the morning there was not a drop of hot water. I know problems can happen, but the man at the front desk was totally uninterested in helping me. I finally did get a $25 refund but I still hadn’t showered. Customer service needs work. The girl at the desk was helpful.

Beautiful setting for hotel. They are trying but you can see where things are being missed. Window sills in corridors and corridors themselves covered in cobwebs, flies and dust. Decorating / painting rushed you can still see paint along windows etc. Bed / Bathroom dated but comfortable and rooms were clean. Wallpaper in our room was stained and ripping from wall.
Honestly staff we interacted with were brilliant and professional. Breakfast was filling and generous.

Awful, dirty, old, worn, spiders in room, unhelpful staff. Fell outside on steps, still waiting for contact from hotel, their fault, unsafe steps, safety strip hanging off which is what I tripped on. This was quickly removed by staff!.Not even an apology or offer to wash my trousers that were blood stained from two bleeding knees. No first aid box at reception and receptionist got 2 blue plasters from the kitchen thinking they would be adequate, had to ask for sterile dressings! I have taken lots of photos and copy of the accident report. Slept the night but left as soon as we woke, didn't use the shower as bathroom was dirty. Didn't stay for breakfast, (which we had payed for) because of poor hygiene throughout the hotel. Couldn't get out quickly enough. Spoilt our whole experience of Ireland. Most expensive of 6 hotels we stayed in throughout our trip and thought it would be a nice treat, how wrong we were.
*FOR SOME REASON I CAN'T UPLOAD ANY PHOTOS TO MY REVIEW - WHICH ISN'T HELPFUL*

The included breakfast was nice. That’s the only good thing I can say about this place. The bathrooms are VERY outdated, as well as the whole facility. We were in one room that had a broken toilet and leaking shower. Luckily, the people that work there are lovely and very helpful.
If you want to stay somewhere that is over priced and that hasn’t been updated since the ‘60s, this is your place!

The staff were beautiful helpful and kind, especially during some very frustrating situations which arose during the trip. The building a location were fine.

Nobody on front desk to take my key or ask if stay was ok. I went back again as hotel very near my work and room wasn't cleaned.
Still the location is great for me so I regularly book in.
I forgot that I booked on one occasion and the hotel still charged me the full whack. Would not even refund me a euro even though I'm a regular customer and they didn't have to clean the room or make the beds. So I'll never book in again. A shame as it's a nice hotel.

A beautiful hotel in a beautiful part of Ireland. We loved our stay.

We stayed in room 102, the Doonass Suite, and felt like we were in the lap of luxury. The suite was better than we experienced at a castle for much less. The staff was wonderful as well. There was only a limited menu in the bar, but it was February when we stayed, so it made sense. It's right on the Shannon River as well. Loved every minute.

Beautiful hotel…5 minute walk from the hotel to do the walk along the River…It’s a fairy walk where you can see Fairy Houses-great for kids! —Tennis Courts, Indoor swimming pool and very large gym free for guests to use.

We very much enjoyed our stay at Castle Oaks House. The surrounding area and grounds of the hotel are beautiful! The suite we had was very spacious and would have worked well for a family of four.

Lovely old structure needs a bit of loving care to upkeep, a few things were a bit beatup, cracked tile, louse flooring. But it was very clean and the staff was just wonderful, friendly, efficient and kind. We had a nice stay.

Fantastic welcome and stay in this hotel. Was in the area working so definitely will be back if I'm back in the area.
