We stayed in the bungalow which was very new and clean. It looks exactly as presented in the pictures. Staff were helpful. Breakfast was decent. The bungalows have their own outdoor hot tub and sauna area which was nice. There are about 12 bungalows total (I think), so it could get crowded in that hot tub and sauna when the hotel is busy given they weren’t very big. It seems like a good place to see northern lights, we just didn’t get lucky during our stay.
Only downside from our stay was no smart tv (unless we just weren’t able to figure it out), but you can easily plug in an Amazon fire stick. Also, due to some issue, the hot tub was more like a warm tub. We recognize things happen so we won’t let it affect the review, but still disappointing.

We got upgraded to the deluxe cabins which were fantastic for star gazing and northern lights viewing. The room was big and clean. Only thing is the room was not warm enough even with max heater on. However, it was a very nice experience overall.

We stayed two nights (Aug 26 & 27) and booked the Jr. Suite and two luxury cabins (3 rooms), and would suggest either of these two rooms in lieu of the standard smaller rooms. All three rooms were wonderful, very large and overlook the golf course and mountains. The sauna is directly outside the patio of the very private luxury cabins. Natasia & Ines at the front desk are both amazing and go out of their way to make sure everything is perfect. They called us in the middle of the nights to let us know the Northern Lights were out. The restaurant food and staff were excellent. Hotel has a great warm feel to it. Highly recommend the Hotel Hamar!

Beautiful property on a golf course. Great views of the lake. The rooms were nice. Good food in restaurant. After all travel we picked this hotel for the hot tubs and steam room which were out of order.

There is no sound proofing so you can hear other guests in the hall taking and slamming doors. Not a restful experience.

situated on a golf course, easy to locate, lots of parking on site, great breakfast spread and just 8 min drive to visit The Settlement Museum and dine there and 5 minute to turn onto Hwy 1 (ring road) to head to the capital. Very convenient. Rooms are basic and functional. Just right for one night on our ring road adventure around Iceland.

Unable to stay in our room due to canceled flight, which I fully acknowledge that this is not the hotels problem. However, the hotel was unwilling to reimburse any portion of our fees with 15 hours notice that we'd be unable to make this reservation.
This is more of a awareness to those that book here, if plans are altered for whatever reason, the hotel will not offer any sort of refund.
I understand that it is Iceland, and these are usually smaller family run hotels, so this is why I still gave it a 3-Star review, even though I had to pay for a night here that I never got to enjoy. I'm sure the accommodations are as nice as other places that we stayed in Iceland, after missing our first day/night.

The newly built luxury cabins were amazing (exceeded my expectations), they offered a great restaurant and bar area and the grounds were beautiful. Having hot tubs and sauna is another great plus.

Great hotel, really nice rooms and beautiful mountain views. The breakfast was great as well. The hotel was very nice and I recommend getting a mountain view room because it's gorgeous. The hotel even called our room when they saw the Northern lights outside our rooms! 10/10 experience

The hotel has an amazing view. Upon check-in, we were upgraded, which was very nice. Dinner at the hotel was also excellent and delicious with the views making it very enjoyable. Our room was clean and had a great bathroom. The room also had a mini fridge.

This property has wake up calls for the northern lights. If they hadn’t called, we would have slept through. They have two nice hot tubs and a sauna. The food at the restaurant was delicious!

Lovely hotel, slightly let down by the fact that their hot tub is offered from 8am and was not actually open in the morning (at 8am or by 10am when checking out)
The breakfast was great and stands out above the other continental style breakfasts we have had in our trip.
There was a wake up call for northern lights which was a welcome addition.

I love everything about this Hotel. The room, easy parking, bar and free breakfast was so great!! I also seen the northern lights there. They call you if they see them. I spent two wonderful nights there. Would highly recommend this place.

Shower broken, fan in bathroom not good, bathroom was really wet after each shower, even with leaving the door open. Dangerous as the floor was soaked. Door to patio was flimsy and difficult to lock. Most expensive room of our trip at over $200 per night, and the smallest.

Located in the main road, really convenient. Room and bathroom was good and comfortable. Restaurant was really good. Parking in location really convenient. There was souvenirs and drinks available for shopping at the lobby. Would definitely stay again when return to Iceland.

Beautiful views of sunrise over mountains at breakfast and fantastic access to outdoors for Northern Lights at night with wake up call for the Aurora. What’s not to like! Very comfortable although it was a bit chilly in the room on arrival but it did warm up with heater on so all perfect
