A pleasant stay in an attractive country pub
The room was spacious and thoughtfully decorated. The bed comfortable. The food was good especially the breakfast. It is in a pretty village good for walking outside. Plenty of parking.
Would like to see double glazing on the windows as right by a road. However this isn’ta problem at night as very quiet and peaceful.
The room was exceptional with vaulted beams and chandeliers.
A lovely bathroom with pleasant toiletries but the shower shelf on the edge of the bath needs attention as it is worn and needs repainting.
Overall a lovely experience.

"The Crown in Sturminster Newton is a true gem of a village pub! From the moment you walk in, you're greeted by a warm and friendly atmosphere that instantly makes you feel at home. The evening vibe is absolutely fantastic, with the perfect mix of lively energy and cozy comfort. The food is nothing short of amazing—every dish is prepared with care and full of flavor. On top of that, the service is exceptional, with staff who go above and beyond to make your experience special. We had a very comfortable room for one night. The staff were very welcoming. We had dinner in the pub which was nice, but not exceptional. Breakfast was lovely although you had to decide the night before what you were going to eat.

Staff was helpful and the room was fantastic. Dinner and breakfast were fine. I’m sure it had nothing to do with the hotel, but there was an absolute terrible stench outside when we arrived, it could actually still be smelled in the room. It eventually died down but never went away

Highly recommended.
Our only down side comment, the family room could do with an opening window, but as the room was so big, we coped with it.
The Crown has a very interesting historical past.

The whole experience was wonderful. How would ask for a shower neither of a person in the rooms could use the bath due to health issues

Would be nice to have a non-Hall and Woodhouse guest beer and a real cider. Otherwise excellent place to stay and eat. Would definitely visit again.

We had another lovely stay at the Crown. Have been here a number of times and is definitely our favourite pub and place to stay. Rooms are comfortable, clean and warm and warm, food is excellent and the beer and pub environment also excellent. All of the staff are really pleasant, attentive and nothing is too much trouble, Recommend the Crown to anybody

We stayed in the family room and even with a 16 year old had plenty of space. Room was stunning. Good honest food and friendly staff.

Beatiful old inn with nicely decorated rooms. Pub area is very cosy. Although the road is quite noisy and woke us early.

We had a delightful stay at The Crown - the dinner menu & food in the pub was fantastic, the chickens on site in the pub garden entertained our little boys, the room was huge, comfortable and spotlessly clean with lovely touches such as milk and cold water in the fridge, a fan to keep us all cool (was a very hot day and night!), bath salts and excellent toiletries.
The only negatives were overcooked poached eggs at breakfast, the fast road right outside being rather loud, and the TV Freeview was tricky to work and had a very slow remote which didn’t help.
Overall we were very happy with our stay.

Stayed at the Crown many times now and always love coming back. Staff are excellent and very friendly, food is always of a high standard and great beers (and gin) in the pub. Warm cosy atmosphere and very welcoming, with comfortable rooms. My idea of a proper county pub. We will be back again soon.

The landlord was very rude at times as if we had really inconvenienced him by staying there. Lovely room and very comfortable but the landlord let it down. Plus a 5pm check in time.

Clean and comfortable room. Excellent shower. Fridge and coffee / tea available. Meals very good , large breakfast sets You up for the day. Evening meals nicely presented. Very good value for money.

The pub is historic and features in Tess of the D’Urbevilles by Thomas Hardy: ‘ The Pure Drop’, nice beer garden. Good menu for lunch, evening and breakfast. Comfortable room and bed. Large wet room room suitable for disabled people. Unfortunately Room 7 was downstairs on the road side of the pub, so lots of traffic noise on busy road early in the morning despite additional glazing.
