Stayed for nights, the hotel is quaint with very obliging staff. Restaurant looks over the river which makes an ideal situation for breakfast and evening meal

Nice very traditional hotel in a nice part of town, we had a lovely stay!

Friendly staff, fantastic location, good breakfast and bar, all round very easy and relaxing.

Great staff and right in the centre of town. Old hotel full of character. Only downside is that there is no parking any more, this used to be a real bonus.

Great for getting to be train and ferry. Ideally located with great views overlooking the harbour. Breakfast was excellent although we didn’t experience other dining options. Staff were very friendly and the property was historical and full of charm. Would thoroughly recommend a stay but as far as we are concerned it would preferably be in an external room.

Property is old. Hairdryer and TV‘s remote control were unclean.

To many stairs

The stairs to the 4th floor have done wonders for my leg muscles !!

Theresa on reception was absolutely lovely and very helpful. Parking for any length of time was quite tricky!

We really enjoyed our stay for my partners birthday. Location of the hotel was fantastic and close to local amenities. Staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. The breakfasts were delicious with lots of choice from a full english, eggs benedict, fresh fruit, cereals etc, all good quality. The room was tidy and clean, some areas were worn but that’s expected. We stayed in room 29, only criticism is the room could have been organised differently but other than that it was lovely. We loved the character of the building, and I can imagine in the summer it would be gorgeous. We will definitely come back again!

It’s a great place to stay.

Overall our stay was very pleasant, staff were very friendly and our room was comfortable. On the 3 nights we stayed, we found the breakfast to be unacceptable. On the first morning, some of the items were cold, ie beans and mushrooms. On the second morning we did change our choice and mentioned to the lovely lady that if possible can our food be hot, it was warn. On our final morning, we waited 1 hour for our food be served, now you would expect after this period of time it would be piping hot, how disappointed we were to find it cold again and my order was incorrect which left my husband eating his meal while I waited for my gluten free option to arrive.

What a lovely place to stay at whilst visiting Dartmouth. Convenient for food as well as a local drink. Breakfast was included and the dog was spoiled in the most dog friendly hotel i think we have ever stayed at.

Only grumble was shower didnt get hot room 32, just warm and the kettle needed persuading to stay on. Please start breakfasts at 7 or 730am so business users can get up and go

We had a great time in Dartmouth and our stay in this hotel. Our room was a generous size and the staff were superb, very friendly and helpful. The breakfast choice was outstanding and delicious. The hotel is right in the centre which is great for walking around the town, but make sure you arrange parking before you leave as it’s difficult to park close to the hotel

We had a fabulous stay. The staff were superb with very good all round service. The view from the window was a picture! We will be back.

We had a really nice stay, the breakfast was good and the hotel is nice and quirky. The room didn't look like its had been vacuumed, there was a hare clip in the middle of the floor. The location is perfect for Dartmouth's attractions. Beware that the hotel doesn't have any parking and there are no long stay car parks in Dartmouth.

Great location, very comfortable room, staff were amazing, view from room was not great, shower completely stopped flow of water probably due to water demand in hotel which was full?

Staff were amazing and made our stay special. We only stayed for one night but it was an amazing experience.

Everything was fantastic...except our room was attic room with an air conditioner that did not work. It has been broken for some time as there is a laminated sign advising not to use. We also had the seagulls right outside the window, squawking. I think management should rectify these two issue, first fix the air conditioner and second put some netting up over the chimney stacks so the birds can't perch up there. It's a poor decision from management to be booking out this room until these issues are resolved. Otherwise, it's a wonderful place to stay.

Step back in time ! Needs a refresh but clean,tidy and has a charm. Staff friendly too. As far as the food offerings go in our opinion it’s average at best. If everywhere in Dartmouth is booked up you’ll get a table here! But don’t expect to much.

Such welcoming staff. We are regulars and we love this hotel

What a fantastic hotel! We were welcomed warmly and made to feel relaxed from the word go. Our spaniel was given an even better welcome and a gift was waiting in the room. I won’t spoil the surprise. We will certainly be staying at the Royal Castle again. Thank you to all your staff.

We enjoyed our stay but didn't like number's of dogs allowed to enter the eating area. It is rather disconcerting to have a large dog drooling over every mouthful you take. Also stock levels of several non alcohol were very poor. It is no use being told the delivery is next Monday I would like my drink now.

Lovely birthday trip and excellent stay at this hotel. They upgraded me in a luxury room on my birthday day, they are always be so attentive and willing to help you. I would highly recommend this hotel. This is one of the best choice in UK.

Room 25, Top of the hotel, small room ,view is a dirty glass roof Shower very small 6’3 husband struggled to use. Window in bathroom so dirty you couldn’t see outside. Staff lovely. Room not worth the price . We would not stay here again
