Great stay! Loved our private pool. The property is a little dated and could probably use a spruce up in some areas but the views, the staff, and the location make it outstanding.

I would like to give more than 5/5 stars for the guest service in particular. Amazing hotel. Slightly remote to reach, but with your own scooter it's perfect. Quiet, amazing views.

My wife and I had the most amazing honeymoon in koh samui, we stayed at sandalwood and it was unbelievable, the views are stunning the staff are soo friendly and helpful. We stayed in the Bougainvilla and would highly recommend anyone to go check it out. Also make sure to visit the on site restaurant Blue Ginger, quite possibly one of the best places to eat in the island. 10/10 unreal holiday destination

My wife and I stayed here for one night and the place was amazing! It isn’t too far from the airport and we were able to get there with no problem by getting a taxi once we landed. It is a little bit of a drive up the mountain (but not much) to get there and the climb is worth it!
When we got there, the staff was very friendly and helpful. They got us checked in quickly and we walked up to our room. The layout is essentially a bunch of individual villas along a winding path. When we got to our villa, we were welcomed with a stunning view overlooking the ocean that was visible from pretty much every room!
We had a private pool just outside the villa and a bottle of wine we could purchase so we headed out back to drink some wine in the pool while watching an amazing sunset!
The villa had a couple of TVs and had good air conditioning, so we were comfortable the entire night and absolutely loved the place. It left us wishing we could have stayed a few more nights.
The rooms do require a little walking but nothing strenuous. There aren’t any restaurants nearby but there was a nice hotel restaurant that was quick and easy with lots of good options including breakfast. There was a bit of construction going on in the morning nearby and it sounds like that has been happening for a while. It isn’t being done by the hotel. That was about the only disruption and it wasn’t anything severe enough to keep us from booking here again.

We had an amazing stay at Sandalwood resort. The property was sunny with gorgeous views and our room was spectacular. We had our own private pool too! Our favourite spot on our whole trip through Thailand. The only issue was had was that the hotel was right up a difficult hill to drive/walk so many taxis wouldn’t come up the steep hill to get us or stop us off and we had to hike it… it was a tough walk up. The hotel sometimes offered us their taxi/truck but there were extra costs. Overall an amazing place though.

This is an excellent property if you want a scenic view and privacy. However, it felt a bit like a tourist trap. It is located in a secluded high area. Very challenging to walk out of. You have to pay high prices for the taxi provided by the hotel. The food at the restaurant is delicious but doable, as is the price of other places in town. They were “nickel & dimming” me from the minute I checked in. I did not appreciate feeling trapped and forced to pay for everything. The staff was amiable and attentive. Maybe if you have your own transportation, it would be more enjoyable. On the bright side it's a beautiful properly.

This property is absolutely beautiful. Make sure you have a car that will get up a steep hill. It’s worth it, though! Incredible view, wonderful restaurant, super nice people. I will be back!!

Beautiful property and very friendly staff! We stayed in the 1 bedroom pool villa - the view was amazing, the room and pool were gorgeous and the staff were so friendly. The hotel provides room service for every meal (very tasty food), daily cleaning and have a personal driver to take guests to and from the hotel. They also helped us book activities and went above and beyond to make our stay relaxing. Definitely worth the money, my husband and I will definitely go back one day :)

Such a magical place, we stayed in the suite called Jumpee, it has a private infinity pool, outdoor jacuzzi tub and a spacious interior. The staff is super friendly and so helpful. The on site restaurant has a great selection and the food is great. The resort is isolated but they have a shuttle service that will take you anywhere and it is priced very reasonably. I would definitely recommend this resort for a quiet and memorable stay.

Beautiful property, it is beginning to show it's age. High up in the mountains, you get amazing views, great photos. But far away from store resturant and just off the local highways. Taxis and bus are not easy to get to go that direction. And it's. Much more expensive then other areas for transportation. Fortunately, the hotel does a little shuttle up and down the steep hill and to the 2 local beaches.

We absolutely loved our stay. This property has one of the most beautiful views. The staff was very responsive and quick to answer any questions through whatsapp. The cleaners did such a good job every day. Highly recommend and can't wait to come back.

Absolutely the nicest hotel I've ever stayed in! They treated us like royalty. Picked us up from the ferry terminal in a private car. The sea view was amazing! The room was HUGE (2000 sq ft??) with a kitchen, second bedroom, giant balcony, jacuzzi tub. Free shuttle service to and from town. The owner even drove us in his own vehicle to a nearby town b/c it was after the shuttle's hours. Wanted to stay here forever!! Top notch!

We had a wonderful stay at Sandalwood. The rooms were impeccably decorated with a great focus on detail. The front desk staff were super attentive and proved to us that customer service is not a forgotten art. The restaurant food and service was top notch. It rained the whole time we were in Koh Samui, but we didn’t care, as we were in Sandalwood..

Ok this is an excellent place to stay with differing size villas, most of which have their own pool.
We had a one bed grand villa with pool it was brillient. Very private quiet and spacious.
Good storage, plenty of hot water excellent views. Highly recommended. Restaurant was great good selection of Thai and Western food.
Staff were excellent, from reception, housekeepong, tour desk, restaurant, gardeners and pool cleaners, not forgetting the taxi drivers.
They would pick you up from the airport or anywhere you wanted.
However the venue is not suited to people with mobility issues.
There are many steps and slopes around, it is fine if you are active. At 70 I found it ok but not if your balance is poor.
The whole venue gives you fabulous vistas as it is up the side of a very steep hill, and I mean steep. Probably a gradient of 1 in 4.
Only the resident taxis would get you up and down the hill. Ask an ordinary taxi to take you and they would refuse.
But as I said earlier not a problem. If you booked a tour the taxis would run you down the jill to a layby to meet the tour van or bus and come and come and pick you up.
We were well pleased with are villa and choice of location, we would happily have stayed longer than our 2 weeks.

The property was lovely with a beautiful view. The rooms were spacious and they had everything that you could need including a flashlight, bug spray and a first aid kit. The surrounding property was lovely as well with lots of foliage. The staff were very friendly and helped us with anything we needed. As it is quite far up the hill they provided a shuttle up and down the hill if you needed. I would stay there again in a heartbeat.

Sandalwood goes above and beyond with their guests. They add that personal touch that big chain hotels have lost. We felt at home and like we were treating by family. The last day we had to to the airport and got delayed having a massage so they were worried about us missing our flight and weee calling us! Amazing staff and if I were to go back to Samui I’ll definitely stay here again

As cliche as it sounds, our stay was magical. While it was a bit of an adventure getting up the hill on our moped with all of our bags, we could have called the front desk and gotten a pick up. We were greeted by the very friendly front office staff and checked in by the owner, all while sitting pool side with a chilled glass of juice and a cold cleansing towel. They provided a phone for our use while on the island if and when we needed shuttle services which was an added bonus. We didn’t end up using it as we only stayed one night but if we had spent any more time it would have been incredibly convenient. My boyfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and rented the grand jacuzzi suite. The suite was very large and had a wrap around balcony with amazing views and a private jacuzzi tub on the balcony. Upon recommendation from the owner, we ended up having a Milk Bath set up on our balcony tub by their on site Spa staff. They set it up while we were eating dinner at the hotel restaurant (great food and drinks and very nice staff - again, greeted by the owner which gave a very personal experience). The Milk Bath was amazing, room was very comfortable, and all I can say is we wish we had stayed more than one night. If you have the opportunity to stay here, do it.
