Was great for the price well stocked kitchen

Pretty much what I expected based on the info and photos when I booked. The room is in serious need of a deep clean, but at least the sheets were clean. Perfectly fine for a night to sleep.

The suites should be closed until they do some work to them!! I suggest closing them and redoing the insides completely . It was so dirty….. we didn’t want to stay but we had already paid. It stunk so bad and really triggered my allergies. So I didn’t sleep. Beds were ok but the sheets are old and scratchy. The kitchen counters were clean but don’t look at the floor and corners. The bathroom was clean but the tub was dirty and stained, no one showered . There was food crumbs on the coffee table in the living room. Pillows from the 60s and family apart. Overall, disgusting!! DON’T STAY THERE!!

For the price it was what I needed it to be. A large space for a great rate. Really wish the fridge worked though.

Positives: Fairly clean, comfortable bed, heating was good especially during cold season, very affordable, staff member at reception was friendly, most kitchen appliances were useful. Negatives: Bad smell during the first day (with good ventilation and heating on, it went), shower did not work to begin with and when it did water was freezing.

I have stayed at hundreds of Hotels/motels over the years. If there was a below zero rating - this place qualifies. VERY OLD and rooms in poor condition . Wiring below code - when i arrived the fridge was open and unplugged - only heat source was a wall mounted fan which barely did the job. Not being familiar with the area i booked the room based on price. Believe me - for an extra 20 or 30 dollars i could have booked a much better room. Expedia let me down on this one !!

The check in went smoothly. The beds were very comfortable. Various repairs, ie in the bathroom we’re not done properly however that did not affect the function

It was a cheap hotel but regarding the cleanliness I would not recommend this I was smelly and i have to clean all the dishes before i used because they were really dirty

Although initially put off by the intense smell of cleaners, I stayed because Expedia said the only other options in town were over twice the price. Truthfully, I should have left. The cleaners were masking the smell of stale smoke and mold. The walls were stained, not clean, and had all the telltale signs of black mold. Several chunks of the wall had been replaced (poorly) to deal with it. We chose the room because we needed a kitchen, but the freezer was still unplugged when we arrived, which totally ruined the ice-cream cake we had picked up for the party. This "deluxe" room had two double beds and a broken futon with a split mattress that barely worked for one. Yes, the room had an AC, but not in the bedroom, and with no fan in the bathroom, things weren't getting better. During our stay, several people showed up only to leave, and most of the rooms are empty. The morning we left, the owner knocked on the door to tell us he was leaving and wouldn't be back until 11 to check us out and return the kitchen deposit ($100. why? he had my cc on file). Clearly he was more interested in fishing than doing his job. I don't need much, and there's nothing wrong with mismatched sheets, threadbare towels, and basic rooms, but for $150 per night (we were charged $20 for the kids) this place was a huge disappointment and probably a health hazard. Luckily, PA is a cute town with great parks and water, and our party made the trip worth it. Next time, I'll have to do a bit more research.

Worst experience ever - the property is old and the room was dirty, smelled so bad and the furniture was really outdated ! We left after a quick tour of the room , I would have never stayed in there!

It is unreasonable to expect a 5 star experience at a 2 star price. For the price, Sunset is a good deal. The room was large, clean, had two beds in the bedroom and a cot in the main room. It had a kitchen, which we didn't use. Previous comments complained about the neighboring room and her dog. The dog is intimidating but actually friendly, as was the neighbor. There was a lot of noise from the adjacent mobile home park but closing the windows eliminated that

This property transported me to Bates Motel 1979. It was very dated, the beds were uncomfortable, the carpet was dirty, and it looked like the resident handyman painted blind. The appliances were old so I didn't feel safe using the kitchen, except the coffee maker which was newer. The one good thing was the kind manager who gave me a recommendation for dinner, and a map. I'd recommend giving this property a pass unless you have nowhere else to stay.

Cleanliness

I'd like to start by saying that the room was spacious, with a bedroom with 2 double-beds, a room family room, and a decent sized kitchen too for a great price. Bedsheets were clean and the staffperson was nice too. However, everything looked like it was about to fall apart. The room we were going to be put in was frightening, dark and mouldly-smelling, and it backed on to a scary-looking trailer park. Thankfully we were moved up front, but it was only marginally better. If you have low standards and need a kitchen, this might be okay, but there are probably better options in town for similar price.

I want to give this place a good review but the smell of suite #23 (likely from the old, stained, sticky carpets) made this stay very unpleasant for me. No matter me leaving the windows open the entire time and running the two fans this place smelled so bad. If you can overlook strong smells here are the good points: Very spacious suite, a full kitchen, conveniently located, great price, windows facing both the front and the back so you can get the morning and evening sunlight.

Multi-room apt w Fridge, oven, toaster etc. The carpet was very stained and wet. We had to wear shoes. The tub was poorly painted - weird. Beds were a bit soft but comfy. If only they had vinyl floors.

That the futon that could be a bed in a different room. The manager was pleasant, efficient and avaliable.

Central location and price.

Out of all the motels I have stayed at this was the most interesting, outdated and dirty! The motel owner was very nice. I had initially booked the motel as it was all that was left in Port Alberni for the weekend as we were there for kids hockey and everything was booked up. Our reservation was for 2 adults and 1child. I called the motel 2 weeks prior to our stay as my daughter and her boyfriend decided to come give support to our hockey team and wanted to stay for one night. The motel owner said that the room sleeps up to 6 people when I called two weeks prior. At check in I told him that my daughter was coming and he said it would now cost an extra 50$ flat rate. I said okay and that I would come pay him if they did indeed come. They came and I payed. The room had black mold in the bathroom on the walls, dog hair on the ground and everything was completely outdated and pretty dirty. There was hair everywhere that was hair painted over on the walls as well and tons of warnings sign on all devices, not good lighting and smelled very bad and the tv channels were all news stations or shopping channels. The shower pressure was bad and it was either super cold or blazing hot water! All the electronics were taped down. The owner was however very nice so we did not complain at all. He cleaned all the cars snow off of them before we had even woken up. I would not ever stay here again unless it was a last resort!!!
