Great place for families visiting Shimoda and Izu Peninsula. Definitely a hotel catering to Japanese tourists, but with a little Japanese and respect the staff is very friendly and works with you. Some of the staff spoke some English. Bathhouse, arcade, and hotel amenities were great. Walking distance to everything downtown and easy spot to drive to other locations. Would definitely stay here again with family on vacation.

Very local onsen hotel. Roomy & spacious room, comfy beds, beautiful and well kept onsen, ladies/men separated. Delicious buffet, only stayed 1n, heard same menu each day. I love all the Japanese sides. Bring yen if shopping at gift shop, can't use cc. Check in at 3pm. 860 yen for taxi from train to hotel.. Yukatas provided. Plan on returning.

Rooms are pretty spacious, we stayed in a room with 2 beds and additional futons in a tatami area. The property is a little dated but clean and comfortable enough. It was really windy the day we stayed so the windows rattled, but I think it'd be fine in normal weather.
Property has shared baths (indoor and outdoor), foot massagers, (paid) chair massages, lounge area, mini game center, billiards, gift shop, etc. They have options with breakfast and/or dinner but we didn't try that.

I traveled with small kid and we got a room on the 1st floor, where we could open sliding doors-windows right into the yard. She could play there, while I was doing something. I liked that hotel set for us two futons(bed)Breakfast was good. Big choice of Japanese salads, miso, soba/udon, fish, fruits etc.I got a sales coupon for next time. It’s great! Thank you very much!

Positives:
- Great prices
- Dedicated roadbike parking area inside the lobby area if you're cycling around Izu
- Dinner buffet: Great sashimi and sushi, extensive Japanese side dishes, and a small (but appreciated) selection of Western food for those afraid to venture. Drink buffet is exhaustive for both soft drinks and alcohol. Includes locally-grown-and-brewed orange liquer as well as sake - hot or cold!
- Breakfast buffet: Low on Western staples like bread, cereal, eggs, and meats, but has enough to get you by along with another wide selection of Japanese dishes.
- Room sizes are large
- Hot spring facilities are good, including a very nice outdoor bath area, with water that isn't too hot.
- Massage chairs, vending machines are plenty and affordable(soft drinks, snacks, ice cream, alcohol), an arcade game area, karaoke rooms.
- Great staff.
- Recently renovated and repainted - both exterior and interior are very nice looking now.
Negatives:
- The beds are Japanese-firm, coupled with the thin, small, and stiff pillows. Left me with a kink in my neck in the morning.
- Almost no electrical outlets in the room, and zero were near beds. Inconvenient for phone charging.

Overall very good, mostly because the amazing buffet food, which was included for dinner and breakfast with our room. All you can eat and all you can drink with all kinds of Japanese food, and some western food. The room was clean and had a fridge and safe.

It was a nice place and the staff was really friendly, but it was pretty dirty for a Japanese hotel. Also, I don't understand the room service. They would leave a bag outside the door wether we were in the room or not. However, overall it wasn't bad. If you're not trying to spend a lot, then this is good enough.

Nice hotel in a good location. The hotel is a bit old, and this is more noticeable in places like the bath. Definitely good value for a money and had a quiet, peaceful night's sleep

Great location, spacious room with a view. Close to Shimoda.
Shower hot water was only lukewarm, no housekeeping unless you ask (twice). All hotel information in Japanese only, only one English speaker (he was very helpful).

The check will not be easy if you can not speak Japanese as NONE of the staff claim to speak English, none! With that said, you will have to muddle through the check in and hope you can get information about the other amenities you need to figure out as well as the staff was not helpful.
The room was a Japanese style room, which is what we requested; it was unabarably hot as the A.C. was not on. It took about an hour to get the temp to a comfortable temp.
The room is dated and worn but serviceable. We were on the second floor, which barely had a view of the ocean. What little view we had was hindered by the aluminum framing on the glass right at eye level when we sat in our chairs. To see the ocean you either had to duck your head down below the frame or stand up to see out.
We finally settled for a nap but this was ruined by noisy kids running up and down the hall screaming and banging the walls. This went in for over an hour until I finally complained to the hotel manager. The manager first stated that there was nothing he could do about it! I left for a walk and soon after my wife called me to say that the manager was moving us to the 6th floor, thankfully, as no children are allowed on the 6th floor.
Was in the new room we had to temper it and settle in. The view was much nicer but it was hard to see out because of condesnsation all over the glass...single pane glass and hot muggy weather. The glass was clear for about an hour until the A.c. cooled the room down.
