Nice, comfy old-school motel. Super clean, very comfortable beds with crisp sheets. Awesome pillows. It's clear that the owners are continuing to make upgrades here and there. The only thing that did not go well was my inability to get some computer work done, as the Wi-Fi would not stay connected. I don't know if it had anything to do with the fact that we were in one of the rooms toward the rear of the property (Room 23). Other than that, we were very pleased with out stay, and we look forward to staying here again.

As others have said, very clean simple accommodations. Dated but that’s not a concern as the bed was comfortable and shower hot. Would stay again, budget friendly and good service!

The place is old fashioned but neat and clean. That’s what really matters! Nice kind staff!

Nice experience overall. Staff was nice and responsive and the room was well maintained. Room and services were quite simple as reflected in the price and what were exactly what we were expecting. There were no issues or bothers for us, neither from other people nor the area surrounding the motel. In short, it was a pleasant experience staying here and I’d consider stopping by again if I’m looking for a place to stay nearby.

For the price and convenience of location its fine has microwave and mini refrigerator close too solvang and chumash casino and shops and restaurants in buelton.

The Good: 1. Location: Very accessible via the 101 and close to Solvang. 2. Very quiet- Guest really stayed to themselves and they were not noisy. 3. Easy and accessible parking. 4. Easy check-in 5. Price. 6. Clean despite rooms being really old. 7. AC worked fine and so did the fridge. 8. Good hot water. The Bad: 1. The key to the room was an actual key. They need to invest in a system that locks/unlocks doors with a card. 2. Even though checkin was easy. Nothing seemed to be computerized. All paper I guess. 3. Door knob was broken. 4. Room needs a really big upgrade. The bathroom was very outdated. Clean, but outdated. Light lap was broken. Tub was pealing. Shower curtain had a tear. 6. Bedding was from the 80s. 7. The most important upgrade it needs is BLACKOUT CURTAINS!!! The curtains let in so much light it was hard to try to sleep in. 8. It really needs some common area for guests to relax and unwind with some wine. 9. Also no iron in the room or coffee maker. Would I stay here? By myself maybe. With my family, no way! Also not sure if they rent to people for long stays but there was this old dude that had door wide open and was in his boxers shirtless laying on his bed. Not the Motels fault but yo some common sense ettiquete.

Guests seem mindful of keeping noise down. The staff was accommodating and prompt. It was a great place to stay for a night, so close to Solvang.

Will stay there again

The room was clean, Directv in the room. Would recommend to the owners to upgrade the locks on the doors with deadbolt locks. The chain wont stop anyone from coming into the room if they had to.

Needed a bed & a shower in the morning, it provided that. Cost should definitely be lowered to no more than $100 w/taxes & fees.

Bare bones lodging at a budget price. The only amenity is an ice machine, not working. Front desk polite and efficient. Only place I’ve been with no rules posted anywhere so dogs are probably allowed if they are quiet.

No frills, has the basics that a guy would need. Just a clean, simple overnight stop. Not even coffee available. Quiet Friday night, which is nice.

We just needed a place to stop for one night and this place was perfect for the price. While it is an older room, it was very clean, comfy bed and quiet. Could have used a coffee maker, but McDonald’s was very close so it worked out.

Great customer service

We wanted to check in a bit early and the office was locked and we had to wait in our car until someone came to check us in. The towels were small but there was maid service and we got fresh towels the next day.

Fast check in quiet close to restaurants and shopping comfortable beds and friendly staff.

I’ve stayed here twice at San Marcos Motel. It is very clean and convenient for a quick overnight stay. The price is excellent and check in at 2 is very helpful as well. This will be my go to for an overnight stay going forward.

We chose this property for its economy. It was basic in many ways but more than adequate, well kept, and the manager was very helpful and friendly. Everything worked and was exactly what we were looking for as our outpost for going to Solvang. The price allowed us to make a 3-day stay. If you're looking for a 'resort', look elsewhere. If you want a good place to stay, this worked well.

This is a bare basics motel, which is not necessarily a bad thing. It comes with big parking spots, both a microwave and a fridge, and it's in a safe location. Check in was easy and the proprietor was friendly. I knew from the photos that this would be a mom-and-pop type establishment, and I was right. For me, this usually means uncomfortable beds and a sore back in the morning (right again). Freeway access was excellent and I liked how I was only a short distance from Solvang.

We stayed here for our 2nd time this month. Quiet place. Clean room. Convenient to other places.

Basic, cute older motel. Has all you need and great location.
