budget hotel so you get what you pay for - rooms weren't very clean - bar was very noisy downstairs until early hours

The "Pub" is an ex-servicemen's club, full of upbeat, salt-of-the-earth types the military typically recruits and always churns out; so you'll never lack for someone to talk to, or a friendly word or laugh. The current landlady had only taken over the day prior, so was not yet hooked up to provide breakfast, though she assured me that it will be available on my next visit. There will be one.

Good I just didn’t like the noise

We found a dead insect on our bed . We inform the staff who told us their is nothing she can do after several dispute she offered a smaller room for 2 were 3 was needed . It was very noisy loud music and too much smoking not good for kids even though they have a kids room .

Poor check in told me room was paid then rang me while I was out at midnight to pay over the phone lumpy mattress kettle in room no cups tea or coffee no bin small window overlooking a wall with the ground level with the window littered with takeaway boxes rotting food and makeshift ashtrays wish I had read the reviews.

Everything was fine except the window could not close, there were no curtains and I was bitten by bedbugs. Affordable price and great neighbourhood.

We booked as a quick stay during a week long work trip. We were expecting no frills however the room was beyond unpleasant. Wallpaper hanging off the wall, the window had clearly been open to clear the damp smell, the radiator was hanging off of the wall and something was moving on the bed. We went downstairs and appologised but said we simply couldn't stay and explained why. We were told they would cancel our stay on hotels.com so we didn't get charged.... they didn't... we then tried to contact them multiple times and raise a dispute but no luck. They took the money despite saying they would cancel and understood our reasons. Unpleasant!!

Don’t recommend it. Very unsafe, bad smelling hole. Not for family at all. No proper ventilation in the rooms and the bathrooms stinks.

Most uncomfortable stay I ever had. The beds and mattress were awful and couldn’t sleep all night as the mattress springs kept pushing out. No bins and pillows were useless. Wouldn’t recommend anyone to stay here

Rooms quite small and dated. No vending machines or food/drinks available after 12am. Extraction fan was not working, very humid. Overall very out dated but nice people there.

Facilities poor or broken. Run down rooms in a social club.

We stayed for one night as we travelled up from Essex to see Madness in Birmingham We booked 2 rooms for one night … when checking in at the dull and dingey bar we were told we had booked one room for 2 nights After showing our reservation the woman who checked us in scuttled off and on her return told us yes we were in fact booked for one night and 2 rooms The place was filthy Our room had a broken blind at the window which was essentially cloth pinned against the window There was a “travellers christening” that night which meant on our return from our night out we were greeted with loud, drunken people falling about and lots of noise both inside and outside the hotel or should I say hostel The room was freezing as the heater was broken The pillow was as flat as a pancake as was the duvet Couldn’t wait to check out the next day. Barely slept due to noise Did not risk eating there Avoid at all costs!!!!

The rooms look nothing like the pictures online. In my room the radiator was broken & hanging off the wall. They had put in a portable heater which was just blowing cool air. So I was cold, the whole time I was in there. There was Kettle in room but with no cups or tea /coffee facilities. No bin. The bed was very uncomfortable & you can feel the springs. The room was generally dirty, stains on bed. When I returned to the hotel after my night out, I was locked out. I had to bang on the door to be let in, I tried to call them, but the phone line was unavailable. I don't normally write reviews, but this place just Terrible!!

I was only there from late afternoon on 6th Oct till the following morning. Was unable to get breakfast there despite the fact that I was informed although being a Saturday I could obtain breakfast but that proved not to be the case.

Stay away. Its above a pub in rough area. You can hear noises all time. In the night many time people tried to get into the rooms looking for privacy with girls they met in bar. Broken heater. Hairs on carpet. Broken blinds, clogged basin and what not .....

Hotel is located in very rough area, people blocking the entrance and stairs to the entrance.

One of the worst stays ever. The room was stingy. You could smell it the moment you walk in. Had to open the windows (which doesn't even have a view!) and leave the room for two hours. The bed is just terrible. I could feel the springs against my back! Had to sleep on the duvet just to provide myself with some comfort! The sound insulation is the worst! The room next door had their TV on and the sound was infiltrating through the walls! Literally had to put my noise cancelling headphones to get some shut eye! The toilet had no paper roll! There's no safe. No complimentary tea/coffee in the room. There is no kettle. Their wasn't even a wardrobe!!! This place isn't even suitable for just a nightstand. Never coming back.

The hotel is cheap and cheerful but needing some tlc as decoration well past its sell by date. Staff very friendly. Didnt eat there but told dont have gluten free bread breakfasts although they would get some if requested. Would recommend some stuff be kept in freezer not hard.

Never again! Wish I had read the reviews. First impressions weren't great. On arrival there was a large gang of youths in the car park and pimped up cars racing about, my daughter was scared getting out of the car.....and it just got worse. Slow checking in, corridor to room smelt of weed, radiator riped off the wall with broken controls, damaged furniture, no bin, tired decor, one pillow each, music playing until at least 1am, screaming and shouting until about 3am. By 4am we felt so unsafe we decided to leave and didn't return for our second nights stay.

Definitely not recommended for a family. Maybe for someone thats already drunk or on drugs. Arrived at the hotel which looked more like a homeless shelter. Stupidly loud music and gangs a dodgy looking people smoking outside all night. Kids riding escooters in front of cars and buses then shouting a spitting on them if they beep. Plastic gangsters attempting to drift in the car park but witnessed one crash into a parked car then sped off. Screaming women in the hallways. Tv broke, window sill broken. The only window in the room was about 6x12 inches big and was up by the ceiling so couldnt look out of it anyway. Rubbish wifi. BUT super cheap at £80 for 2 nights. I should of done my research but the pictures on their website are NOTHING like what the place actually is like. STAY AWAY FROM HERE!!

awful experience. Television poor reception, really lumpy unusable mattress, grubby overall. Noise from downstairs pub and function room unbelievably loud until at least midnight. The worst place we have ever stayed. Asked for refund after 1 hour and was declined. Like being tortured with lack of sleep on a horrible mattress. I can't grasp how this place has got any half decent ratings?

Booking was for 3 rooms with 3 single beds in each room - all rooms had a double and single bed. Rooms looked fairly clean. No smell of smoke - but window cills had cigarette butts on and smelt. One room only had a very small window high up, so was a bit like a prison cell! The beds were ok, but the pillows very cheap and flat! The rooms were very shabby, with screws sticking out the walls where head boards had been, so quite dangerous. Huge stains on ceiling, heaters damaged in various ways, filthy, knobs damaged/missing, luckily we didn’t need to use them. The bathroom had no rails, hooks or anywhere to put a towel whilst you were in the shower - the shower though was good, lots of hot water and large cubicle. Hairs were found on sink and in shower. Only one half used toilet roll provided - more available from bar. No shelf by the sink. Check-in was at the bar in this venue. The main issue for us was the noise! The venue closed around 12/1am, which we expected. But on the Friday night there was someone arguing loudly all night. On the Saturday night there were 2 full cars having a party in the car park, so loud music and dancing till around 6am - guests were heard shouting at them - so not a lot of sleep, which when you have to drive 200 miles the next day is dangerous, slept better on the car park at the motorway services! The car park states it has CCTV. There were TVs in the room and remotes in 2 rooms, not used though. No kettle or cups.

The pub i stayed in was ok, it was about average for the price i payed per night. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room was tidy when i checked in and the shower was very good. The toilet seat needs replacing as it was broken. I had breakfast on the saturday which was very nice. My main gripe was that the mattress was very uncomfertable and really needs replacing. I also woke up one of the mornings and found what i believe was a bed bug on the pillow. I got rid of it out the window and did check for others but i could not find any. I would advise that the bed and mattress and thoroughly checked before the room is used again. Generally this place is nice, the staff are friendly, the comfort of the mattress in room 19 really lets the rest of the property down.

Staff were very friendly, extremely helpful, Food was excellent and great prices. Room was tidy, bed was very comfortable but the pillows and the duvets need going in the bin they are disgusting. Luckly we didnt see it till leaving when i stipped the bed.. the light fitting is hanging off the wall bybthe bed, and cobwebs needs getting with a duster. Would i return yes if the bedding is replaced or washed. There about £10 for the duvets

Booked a triple room listed with 3 single beds, got given one with a double and a single - not good when you're travelling with 2 mates. No bin in the room or bathroom. No TV remote, signal awful. Broken furnature in room, uncomfortable beds and a previously used towel left in the room. Also, we didn't mind as we were out late but loud music can be heard from the bedrooms until early hours. Good points - it was cheap, location wasn't bad, the lady who checked us in was really nice and there is plenty of free parking.
