We met Stefano who owns the villa and Filippo who manages the villa on arrival. They were both so welcoming and even had toys for our kids to play with. The villa is gorgeous and very clean, warm with everything you need.
We explored all of Tuscany and this villa was the perfect location to be based out of.
We hope to make this a regular trip and will definitely return to Stefanos villa again

The house was beautiful and had all the amenities you would need for a week stay. Stefan was very helpful and welcoming and was on hand when needed. It would be useful to rent a car, as the house is further out of Lucca although there is a bus stop (5 mins walk away) with a direct route so we never had an issue. Overall we had a fantastic stay and would recommend to anyone!

If you're looking for a great get away place this would be the place for you.
There is a shop not far away if you go by car and a few nice places to eat, would definitely recommend La Cantina di Alfredo. The house was clean and cozy. If it would have been a bit warmer the pool would have been great to swim in, but waking up with a cup of coffee next to the pool was also a great way to start your day. Looking forward to coming back someday!

Very beautiful house for relaxed vacation
The house is located in a beautiful tuscan surrounding, with many trees, calm but not too far away from the next food store. It has a really neat look and feel and is perfect for four people and very (very) clean. The owner's cat sometimes says hello, especially if food is involved. The pool site is surrounded by plants, which is perfect, if you are looking for a place to chill and relax. Thanks for a really pleasant stay.
A second umbrella at the pool would be perfect. Also, if people want to spend more time at the table outside during the day, a pavillion might be useful. But this is just a suggestion to make it even better.

Great base to explore a beautiful part of Tuscany
We very much enjoyed our stay here. It is a great place to come home to after a busy day of visiting Pisa, Lucca, Florence, Monte Carlo just to mention a few. The owners, who live next door, are very friendly and welcoming.

perfect stay
This place is flat out wonderful! Not only it is clean and neat and lovingly cared for, but look around you! Every little detail is done to perfection. In short, it's just what you want a tuscan villa in a 17st century Tuscan hillside hamlet to look like. The pictures on here do not do this place justice. Having a car is great so you can explore all the famous hill towns as well as Lucca town centre and its wine country, all of which are easy day trips. Lucca town centre is at less than 15 mins drive! We espe-cially enjoyed Lucca and Montecarlo. The nearby village is nice to see and provides you with an excellent supermarket and amazing little groceris and easy access to roads leading everywhere. Sonia is on the premises every day to guide you around the area, providing very helpful information on parking, tours, restaurants, etc. She totally understands customer service and obviously enjoys being the co-proprietor of this lovely place. She might even give you a whiff of his own homegrown and heavenly olive oil. On the sad day when we left the villa, I promised Sonia I would write him a glowing review and recommend it to everyone. And indeed I do! Thank you Sonia for a memorable week in Tuscany!

A Villa and people beyond words
We have returned home from a fantastic 2 weeks in Tuscany wishing that we had spent two weeks in Tuscany! The Farmhouse Coccinelle (what a funny name!) was the perfect pla-ce for our family of 4 (all adults) to relax, unwind, and enjoy the beauty of the house. Thanks to the loving care that Sonia put into this property, we hated to leave! Upon our ar-rival, we received a great orientation about the area and the rich history of the home. We were also given cell phones and a preprogrammed GPS (very helpful!) to use for the week that we requested in advance to Mrs Cristina. Thanks to Cristina, we had a deli-cious meal delivered to the villa to enjoy our first night. This was money well spent as we were tired from our long trip. We took day trips to Lucca (very close), Florence, Pisa and Cinque Terre. Sonia has all of the directions for these destinations at the villa. We enjoy-ed all of the day trips, but hated to leave the beautiful villa. After we returned from our day trips, the kids headed straight for the pool with a garden and setting that is beyond words. When we travel, we really enjoy getting to know the people who live in the area and seeing how they live. We enjoyed using our limited Italian to talk to the neighbors...they were very friendly and kind...one even brought us fresh figs from her garden...yum! Another group invited me to sit down with them as I was returning from my morning run. A highlight of the trip was the barbeque party at the villa. Cristina fired up bbq and taught us how to make the best meat that we have ever had. It was fun to chat with her about life in Italy...a night that we will always remember. Finally, we all slept like babies at the villa...it is quiet! The only sounds you hear in the morning are birds and roosters...wonderful! The beds were extremely comfortable with fresh linen sheets. We loved our visit...
Very Grateful Mark and Stephanie, your guests in November 2018

Three visits to Coccinelle Farmhouse
For three glorious vacations (October 2016, October 2017 & October 2018), my family and I trave-led to Italy and stayed in this delightful home. Coccinelle Farmhouse has all the charm of the Tu-scan countryside: sunshine on your face, open fields to roam and culinary experiences to share. The villa gave our family (3 generations) plenty of room to congregate and enough places for a little privacy. All three years I traveled with my bicycle, wandering through many of the villages that sur-round Lucca and never did get to see all the places I wanted to. The house is situated between the flatlands of the coastal waters and the hilly region of Lucca; an excellent location for the true cyclist. My family and I were particularly pleased with our host, Sonia who shared with us the Italian way besides providing an immaculate home. From harvesting olives to a performance of a Puccini ope-ra to a local blacksmith making tools, they gave us an insider’s look at this beautiful country. We learned how to make pizza in a stone oven, tasted wine only the locals know about and stepped on-to the Ponte del Diavolo (Devil’s Bridge). So bring your book if you need some down time by the pool, bring your appetite to eat all the delicious offerings, bring your intellect to study the arts and don’t forget your sense of adventure to discover all that Italy that is known for. This is THE place!-

A delightful country retreat
The house is quite charming and well equipped although the bathrooms could benefit from a little modernisation and the second bedroom is definitely for children only. Stefano (The Owner) is at hand to deal with any problems as he lives next door - in fact you share a drive and we saw him every day. Cristina was there to welcome us and give us a pretty comprehensive introduction to the property and the area.
It is fair to say that the situation of the property is very rural. There is a small bar a couple of minutes away and a well stocked local mini-market just around the corner, however there are no restaurants within easy walking distance and even if you did fancy a half hour brisk walk, the roads are quite busy and not particularly walker-friendly (no verges so you are walking on the road), but there are a number of restaurants within a ten or fifteen minute drive. Be sure to bring plenty of insect repellent - the mosquitoes are voracious both during the day and night.
All in all a delightful little cottage, very away from it all and in the midst of some stunning countryside.

Charming, peaceful and welcoming farmhouse in beautiful Tuscany
I just want to say thank you so much to Christina, Christina and Stephano for helping us have such a wonderful stay in Lucca, Tuscany. The whole holiday was well planned and organised, with frequent and helpful communication before we arrived. Christina also recommended an excellent taxi company to transfer my family from Florence airport to the villa, and kindly bought us some grosseries as we were arriving on the Saturday evening. The villa was just as we hoped, clean, well presented and with a traditionally Italian feel in places. The gardens and pool area were lovely and well maintained, we spent several days just relaxing there. There was a great mini market 5 minutes walk down the road and Lucca was a 20 minute taxi/car ride away. We would highly recommend staying here again, we thoroughly enjoyed our holiday at the farmhouse and would certainly book again. Thank you.

CLEAN, COMFORTABLE, AMAZING TOWN & FRIENDLY FAMILY
My husband and I spotted the advert and Coccinelle farnhouse looked delightful. We made enquiries and Sonia replied quickly with exactly the details we needed. As our travelling arrangements were a bit complicated she was very helpful, always giving us contact numbers and making everything run smoothly. When we arrived the property was even more attractive than we expected, and both Sonia and Cristina knew just how much to chat with us and give us space and privacy. It was fascinating to discover about the wine and Olive Oil that they produce, and it is well worth trying (shame we did not have room to take much more home!). Very helpful, friendly and efficient. A pleasure to be their guests.

Beautiful, quiet and tranquil a dream location
We stayed here with our little boy of 5 and his grandparents, the pool was definitely a great place for the whole family to gather and cool down in the heat. The owner lives next door and he was really friendly and helpful if we need him for anything. We had comlplete privacy all day everyday it was brilliant. The quiet location was great. The house was immaculate, beautiful linen in the bedrooms and crockery all lovely. We got used to the times in which the mosquitoes were around and avoided those times outside. Lots of places very accessible by car, Lucca, Pisa, Collodi. Hotter than usual for this time of year but not uncomfortable, we kept the house cool during the day keeping the shutters closed. We would definitely return to the beautiful farmhouse

Nice holiday home near Lucca
We really did enjoy our holiday here. The farmhouse is an attractive home and Stefano, who lives very close by, was very welcoming and helpful. We were close to a bus stop for trips to Lucca and we hired a car as well for a week. There is also a great little mini market 5 mins walk away. We never met Sonia or Christina. It was Lisa who met us on arrival at the house and she was very helpful. The photos on the website are fairly accurate although the cushions and bedding are not as pretty as shown. Everything was clean but the downstairs bathroom is a wet room and the floor gets very wet from the shower. Upstairs has only a handheld shower over the bath. It is not the fault of the owner but we were bitten a lot by mosquitos and my daughter was stung twice by wasps. Insect repellents didn't seem to work. It needs to be said that the house is right beside a pretty noisy road and heavy vehicles used it regularly when we were there. It was hot so we wanted to keep the windows open but quite a few had no mesh or badly fitting mesh panels with gaps which let insects in. Air conditioning is expensive, about a Euro an hour for each machine. We used it sparingly. The twin bedroom is very small and was very hot when we were there. The views were not as spectacular as we expected but the gardens were pretty and well cared for. We enjoyed ourselves here but feel this review will give you a better picture of the farmhouse. We received an email from Sonia giving information about Lucca etc but we had nothing in the villa to tell us directions to local restaurants or shops. We used the Internet to find out although the connection is not that great.

Le Coccinelle amazing farmhouse
The house was so quaint and the views were unbelievable. Our favorite was the expansive garden with the beautiful pool and we enjoyed the wine left for us by Francisco. I would recommend Mrs Sonia’s services to friends! (i have been renting several times from her for my trips to Lucca and Florence) Cristina was so helpful and the packets of information and the quick email responses to our questions made us know that we made the right choice in going with this company. We really enjoyed Il Giardinetto (?) in Colle di Compito and the family who runs the nearby deli were wonderfully friendly and very helpful to us. The quiet and views really made our whole trip to Italy!!

the Tuscan sun at the coccinelle farmhouse
The villa is historic and beautiful. The location is fantastic, the staff and owner gracious and helpful, cannot do enough for your comfort and enjoyment. A perfect location. Near Florence and Cinque Terre as well as the Ligurian Sea and beaches. An easy drive to the historic mountain towns or to wonderful Chianti country. It is even easy to make a run for Rome for a few days. Maybe the best was sitting by or in the pool reading a good book and enjoying a glass of delicious red and the Tuscan sun in complete solitude on the big hill overlooking Lucca

What's not to like?
What's not to like? The Villa is beautiful, spacious and immaculate. The hosts are generous with their time and advice. Relax by the pool and enjoy the tremendous view or explore Tuscany from this home base. Many days trips available from this central location (Pisa, Florence, Carrara, Siena, Cinque Terre, etc). Loved it. Coming back in 2017

charming homey farmhouse in an excellent location
We spent a week here at the beginning of December. The bedrooms are cosy and nice and each one has windows with lovely views of the countryside. The walls outside our room was covered in rosemary and jasmine which must smell amazing in the summer.
The farmhouse also has a large, well-equipped kitchen-diner and a comfortable sitting / dining room with a charming fireplace that adds a charming homey feeling. It really is just 10 minutes away from Lucca town, yet surrounded by beautiful gardens. Nearby shops stock everything you'll need, and there are lots of restaurants within walking distance. Several bus services pass within a couple of minutes' walk, and we found the buses to be regular and reliable.
The owner has left notes around the house to help you deal with plumbing, electricity etc. We followed the instructions and had no problems. I am glad we met Mrs Sonia and we will definitely be renting again from her for your trip next winter. James and Sarah

an absolute gem
My family and I have been expats for 14 years. We stay all over the world. Coccinelle farmhouse, run by Sonia is an absolute gem, thankfully hidden high in the hills surrounding Lucca. One of the great family debates each day was, " do we want to leave to travel around the district, or stay and just absorb the ever changing stunning views?". We did both as there is so much to see around the area. We also did the home cooking classes organized by Sonia’s friend Mrs Cristina. The house is great, but it is just the location and those views that draw you in. If you need a break from a hectic life, go to Coccinelle.

Superb views!
Sonia's house is lovely. It is set high on the hill with beautiful views. Cristina met us in Lucca at the highway exit and leaded us there. There is a 10 mins drive from Lucca town to the house. The town of Florence is not far away and we stopped there for lunch before checking in. We had a fully equipped kitchen and charming sitting area (with wi-fi). Each bedroom has its own bathroom. Our bedroom was very comfortable. The bed was good quality, the linen and bathroom clean. Also the views are superb! We were well taken care of by Cristina and Stefano who made us feel very welcome and gave us directions and advice about the area. It is conveniently located and we did separate day trips to Lucca, Pistoia, Cinque Terra and Sienna.

4th visit to Mrs Sonia
This is our 4th visit to Lucca and we definitely love to rent from Mrs Sonia. My time spent at the Villa was the highlight of my trip. It was a perfect location to head out and visit the country from. I was there during the peak season, beginning of September, however, this did not distract from the tranquility. I would go again, maybe earlier in the year to take advantage of the spring atmosphere and would spend more time just relaxing at the Villa enjoying the sound of church bells in the distance, a breeze in the air and a book in my lap. Also, this is the second time we have rented a property through Sonia and each time, she has gone out of her way to be helpful. I will highly recommend the Villa and the kind service of Mrs Sonia.

A great vacation rental
We spent 10 days at this property in mid-August and loved it. We used it as a home base to visit Lucca, Florence, Pisa, Siena, Bologna, and Cinque Terre (all within reasonable driving distance), but we also very much enjoyed staying put on some days. The posted photos do not lie and we were not disappointed (which was important to us, coming all the way from Canada!). We would definitely return, as well as recommend the place to others. The property was lovely, conveniently located, nicely furnished and spacious, and offered all the amenities we needed. If anything could be added by way of an improvement, it might perhaps be a kettle, and maybe a hair dryer. The pool was fantastic - clean and just the right size and depth, for kids in particular. A/C was available at extra cost, but we did not need to use it despite the high temperatures because opening the windows generally provided enough of a breeze to cool the place down, especially the main upstairs bedroom. The owner lives right next door, but is not at all intrusive and is always available to answer questions and provide any assistance needed. There was a bit of traffic noise at night from the road adjacent to the property, but we did not find this particularly bothersome, especially with windows closed. There was also the regular sound of church bells marking the passing of each hour, but that was part of the charm and we actually enjoyed it. Be prepared for some mosquitoes and bees around the property, but we were not particularly bothered. Thank you Stefano for letting us use your beautiful farmhouse, and for letting us try your home grown tomatoes and your home made honey and olive oil, not to mention letting us pick lemons off your lemon trees! Thanks also to Cristina for leading us to the property on day 1 and sharing much useful information. We hope to return to Lucca and this property again some day. It was a wonderful vacation.
