Room, location - all good. Staff and service was not that great. Restaurant was shutdown.

Property did not look as though it did from the picture. Great view of the beach very old rundown building. And the way of amenities, not much. If you don’t mind Just bare bones and all you need is a place to sleep. This is fine.

Amazing staff and very clean rooms

It was alright. Clean, close to everything, ocean front with great beach. Nothing fancy, but clean and that's important.

Dirty rooms but nice view. Poor service. Ran out of toilet paper and they had no extra rolls???? Like what????

Not like the pictures, but definitely clean, friendly, local. Gorgeous view. Overall an awesome experience.

Needs severe updating. Staff was prompt and friendly with any needs. Pool is gross and needs to be demolished. Great views of the ocean.

The room was ok. Needed some fixing up. Especially in the bathroom, and wall heater was missing a metal panel that covers the electrical. The path down to the beach was nice.

It is very bad place to stay.

The amenities listed were lies. No room service, no restaurant, no phone in the room. Pool was horrible and not always open. Refused to clean our room after our first night, but said if we need anything to call…except there was no phone! We were given 2 towels for 4 people. We were in a separate building from the pool and the lobby. One person needed to use the toilet while in the lobby building. We were told to return to our room in the other building, as there were no public toilets on the property.

We could not regulate the temperature in our room. A screen was missing off the window so did not feel comfortable leaving it open. Bed pillow smelled bad.

Location and view is great

The staff were nice, and one couldn't beat the beautiful ocean view. The rooms and facility need updating, as it looks a little seedy. I think the rooms were clean enough, but they need painting and sprucing up. I understand that they probably took a huge hit during the pandemic and they haven't recovered. The elevator was very slow.

They need to update there listing. If you stayed more than 1 night there is no housekeeping avaible.

Towl kook fell off the wall,rust around bottom of toilet plus had to keep taking back of the toilet off after flushing to move the flapper becouse it just kept running after flushing,wall paper peeling off ,beds are hard,view is great through the filthy windows. Very close too the beach. But 775 . For 3 nights was pretty steep considering building condition. Had to order towls which is the only time we saw any staff. In all fairness we were in building d 3rd floor . Dont know if it is the older building becouse we booked online or not never saw other buildings. Was close to the beach. Which is why i booked it . Wont book with them again other places were the same price but nicer rooms. Rooms were clean as they could be under current condition.

Ocean front was nice. Property was rundown and dirty. Pool was too filthy to use.

Unfortunately a very run down property that is not maintained to safety standards. The female day shift manager tries very hard, but this property will probably be razed soon due to safety issues. No longer a 3 star hotel.

Excellent location and great ocean view. The room was large & comfortable. Property was in need of general upkeep & repairs. The pool was not open. The access to the parking garage under the motel was difficult to maneuver & scraped the undercarriage of our car.

The hotel is generously one and a half star in all respects with the exception of the best five stars views of the Newport Beach. The views made the experience good!

Not worth the price. The property has good beach access and a good view, but the facilities are underwhelming for the price.

This hotel is just waiting to be sold or permanently close The entire property needs a face lift. The health department closed the pool. Wifi did not work. Bathroom had cracks all over in the tile. Toilet had worn out areas on the seat. Room phone did not work. The restaurant overlooks the ocean, but has been closed for years. This hotel could be great, but it needs to be taken over by another company or just give up and close.

We usually just get a place to crash when we need to book a room. No frills. But this stay was not good, from start to finish, and I hope some wealthy investor will buy the property and restore it to what I'm assuming is its former glory. The positives: The view of the ocean from our room window was breathtaking, and the lady at the front desk was sweet and professional. The bathroom appeared to be immaculate. The entrance and exit to the parking garage slope so severely that if you have a lower sitting car, you scrape the underside each time. We had to walk in the rain back and forth between our room and the dirty, overly chlorinated pool to change and use the bathroom, because there were no guest bathrooms in the main building. The room was filthy. The lampshade had been turned toward the wall to hide old food spatter and dust. The art on the wall looked like moisture had gotten in the frame. Everything but the entertainment center and tabletops were covered in black dust. I know, because I wiped the room down. Not good for asthma sufferers. One functional outlet was found near floor, going to the door. One other working outlet was next to the smaller sink, and it was unsafe to use, as not to code. We bought a power strip so we couls charged our devices. There is no HVAC. I tried to get the fan out of the closet but it was covered in old food and a fuzzy, thick layer of dust. We slept with the small slider windows open. Not the best stay for us.

The Shilo Inn is being renovated. It's somewhat aged but we had all the amenities we needed, clean, bed was comfortable, staff was helpful, great nearby restaurant, and the beach is everything.

Disappointed to learn upon arrival that despite the advertising and booking details there was not a dinning room or lounge on the property. Also, no cleaning service during art, we had to request coffee or towels to be supplied irgo to the front desk ourselves. Th wasn't bad, but if they know your coming for multiple days they should stock supplies appropriately.The pool area was in poor shape and the only elevator did not work for a period of time and we were on the 4th floor.

It was amazing! And the staff were all great! Only wish they had a restaurant or some sort of breakfast stuff but no biggie the view from our room was amazing!

The room is in poor condition. Broken tiles in bathroom / cracks and holes in the door. Carpet old and smelly. Small television with poor reception and wifi did not work properly. Over priced when compared to other similar properties.
