Had booked a junior suite. Was disappointed even though the room was big. The decor was dated very old fashioned and tired. That goes for the whole hotel. For a four star room they don’t service the room each day unless you leave a tag outside the door every hotel I have stayed in does this without that. Breakfast for two days running was a nightmare it’s self service they run out of food and takes and age to refill. Coffee was running out staff are charging around like lunatics trying to clean tables and refill food. It would seem as though they only want to cook the minimum. On leaving we were not asked how was our stay. I think they would know the answer. Overall if it was 3star I would say it wasn’t to bad

Excellent staff, quality and quantity of food and a reasonable price.

The check in process was straight forward, until they required a card to charge £25 for a deposit on an already paid for room. This charge is not a pending, but a full charge. Hopefully see this back in 10 days. The restaurant was lovely, food amazing if not a little expensive. The room was large, but very tired. Cracking paint on the ceilings, rust on the shower curtain rail etc. slept well enough, but on checkout, was informed there was £5 to pay for parking! Nowhere on the app or the car park itself does it mention a parking charge. The app actually states free parking! As a regular hotel user, I would probably not stay here again, too much faff

Staff were extremely friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Room was easy to find and was comfortable and peaceful. Service in the restaurant was excellent, we were not hurried but neither were we left waiting. Well done

The building is very old and quirky. We had a double room and it was very spacious, even with a 3rd bed added. The breakfast was delicious and the restaurant/bar area has lovely views over the river. The hotel as a whole could do with a good dust and the window sills needing a clean. Despite this, I would happily stay here again

The hotel was set beside the River Avon. The view was very pretty and quiet. A boating service operated independently from the hotel. An evening boat ride in the summer sunshine was excellent. The evening menu was varied and the food was delicious. The hotel is in need of an update in some areas but I think this is reflected in the price. Salisbury Cathedral is a 10 minute walk away. We enjoyed our visit. The location is perfect. Would recommend.

Sheets were clean but the room & hotel felt extremely tired and unclean. The bottled water in the room was a reused glass mineral water bottle that had been refilled. The bathroom had hairs in the sink and generally felt dirty. The receptionist was very nice and helpful; not so the senior lady in the restaurant.

An excellent base for many attractions. Nice room perhaps in need of paiinting but well appointed. Lovely restaurant and great breakfast. They do need to prepare for busy periods and cater accordingly. Nice staff. Very helpful.

It was a terrible experience our room door looked like a cupboard door and when we entered i am pretty sure it used to be a cupboard as there were no windows. There was a skylight with no blind which woke us up at 5am....

The hotel is nice building in a lovely location so the potential is great. We were in a river view ground floor room, with patio, a good start. However our relaxing weekend was not to be. It turns out that the walls are thin, at 6am we could clearly hear the occupant of room 12 on his phone, you could almost hear the replies too. Then the room above had a thin and creaky floor and from 6 am onward we heard every step and movement this made restful sleep an impossibility. We did register the issue but as the room was full with wedding guests we could not be moved. Further more we were only 20ft from the wedding event room which was very noisy until a little after midnight and guests used the lawn directly in front of our window to congregate. I have no issue with the wedding celebration but as we were not part of that group we should have been placed somewhere more remote.

A really nice place set in a peaceful town

Positives: Large room, perfect for smokers as direct access to outside. Stunning view from room. Iron, ironing board, tea, coffee, espresso machine, water, dressing gowns all provided. Comfortable beds. Excellent breakfast (cooked and continental.) Negative: dated property. Room needs some tlc and outside needs a hose down from cobwebs etc. Shower runs hot and cold.

Lovely back area along the river. Unfortunately although rules are no-smoking in rooms, guests are allowed to smoke outside their rooms.. We couldn't leave our window open due to the heavy smokers next door.

Beautiful property with a view of salisbury cathedral & waterfront behind it!

We stayed in room 11 which backed onto the car park and was quite dark only serviced by a small window. At 5am we were awoken by a noisy delivery dragging several trolleys past our window waking us up. The room itself was comfortable but needed a fresh coat of paint and it was dusty with dirty skirting on the bathroom. All staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We would stay again, but not in room 11.

Easy walk to Salisbury Cathedral and city center.

A very beautiful place to stay along the Avon canal in Salisbury. Great views of the Cathedral and nice areas to walk.

Room was lovely and big, great size bed which was very comfortable. Nicely decorated however a lot of the decor was a bit tired and could do with a touch up. The unit in the bathroom was peeling in places and you could see where the light fitting has been moved in the ceiling, could just do with a little decorating. Staff were lovely, breakfast was good, although eggs ordered took a long time to come, and the dining room wasn't particularly busy.

I booked a deluxe room but had to change because this was too noisy due to the old window as a no double glazing which I understand on an old building, through my move to was quieter but it was just a double room and they said that they would give me a refund for the difference which I have not received The room that I was in was dark lights did not work and it was cold. Apparently the heating is on a timer but the heating did not come on

Been coming here for a few years as its such a good location and generally nice hotel. Made the mistake of booking a ground floor room, was lovely having access to the gardens with patio doors but not so much being kept awake by the people in the room above us... literally every conversation, footstep and bedroom gymnastics. The staff were great 10/10. The location is quiet and lovely by the river. Very convenient for walking into town and lots of parking.

The staff were really helpful. The hotel is in a great situation, with views out to the river. Walking to the cathedral is easy. The room itself was a bit dated, and the wifi not great. Overall, I did enjoy my stay.

Take a step back into a 13th century building turned into an hotel and revel in the fine furnishings and outstanding cuisine in the restaurant. Definitely a must do!

A characterful hotel in a great location. Our room was very spacious and in the old part of the hotel, full of old beams and quirky corners. Bed was large and comfortable. Lighting was a bit lacking and because we faced onto the street it was not suitable to have the blinds and curtains open. The restaurant had a great aspect facing onto the river and grounds. Breakfast was OK and fairly standard fayre, but plenty of choice and supply. Staff all very friendly and helpful Very convenient for accessing the city on foot, a pretty walk to the cathedral or the main road to more restaurants and shops. We enjoyed our stay and would happily come again.

Lovely and convenient place to stay

This is a fantastic hotel. The location is as convenient as anywhere we have ever been. The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was excellent and big. We enjoyed every aspect of our stay. Sitting out overlooking the river was a delightful experience and belied the fact that we were within a few hundred yards of the town. We could have been deep in beautiful countryside. We would and are recommending t to anyone

Nice old hotel right on the water in Salisbury. A great location for walking to the cathedral, shops and restaurants.

This is an opportunity to stay in a gorgeous historic property on the River Avon. The views from every room are stunning. You cannot beat the convenience of walking to ever place you need to visit.
