Excellent hotel

The friendliness of the staff. They were also very helpful.

The hotel is a short walk from the train station, and all main sightseeing spots can be reached by foot. The room has basically no amenities, and the bathroom is just impractically outfitted, and was not perfectly clean. Breakfast was okay.

I called the day before to explain I will not be able to attend but my family will be there and desk confirmed that my mother was on the record and that there will be not issue.
They went to the desk and were denied by the desk because there name didn’t rang any bell…
Hopefully I had provided a identity card to my family and they managed to get one of their room. I had book 2 room, one single and one double, they provided the single one for 2 people… when going back to desk and the young fellow there was really the stereotype of German close minded and had to argue on phone to have him give my second room to them, already paid… further more, the first room was straight to a wall and the second one they doesn’t wanted to provide them at first was a big room with river view.
Don’t understand what the point of being stubborn and deliver poor room when all was paid, also they come every year to the hotel, very disappointed by the young fellow at desk.

Older hotel. No frills indeed.

Even though the hotel was not fully booked we were giving a room next to the elevator and had the "pleasure" of its continuously heavy noise when it was used. Having an important business meeting the following day combined with the hassle of getting up, and getting a new room was not optimal. As the receptionist said please make a note next time when booking at our hotel that your will prefer not to have a room right next to the elevator ! Who would ever prefer that ? Other than that experience the hotel was fine.

Friendly welcome, nice and clean, room was spacious. Breakfast was plentiful.

Twin room was 1 bed with 2 covers, had to sleep on the sofa as sleeping with my grandson isn’t an option.Had to show my bank statement to prove I paid before we could have breakfast. 45 minutes from receiving my key to getting to the room. I will be taking this situation further

It's a nice hotel, so let's break it down:
Parking: Tricky. We were only in the Nissan Micra. If you're in a biggger car or SUV, you might find it challenging.
Reception: We checked in on a Friday. Everything was fine. We were advised that the restaurant was full that night (large coach party of Swiss tourists) but Anthea was more than happy to recommend alternative dinner options. I believe the hotel restuarant is also closed on Sat/Sun evening for dinner.
Room: We went for the Privilege Room. Twice the size of a normal room but well worth the extra cost. Totally recommended for the extra space. Free mini bar/snacks included.
Bathroom: Modern and clean.
Breakfast: Meh. Basically cereals/cold cuts. We skipped it on our last day even though it was included in our room rate.
Location: Excellent. Walk out the hotel door and look straight ahead for Europa Galleria. Walk 2mins up that road and your're in the centre of Saarbrücken. Left takes you towards the train station. Right takes you towards the main shopping mile. Great places to eat whichever direction you chose.
Special mention: Anthea Neuhaus. She checked us in professionally and politely. She then had to deal with me continuously forgetting my key card every time I came down from the room to smoke outside, and issuing me with duplicates. I think when we checked out I handed over six key cards. Every embarrassing for me, but Anthea was a star and a credit to Mercure hotels.
Nice hotel, great receptionist.

Very good hotel, and super breakfast, comfortable room, but it was cold in the room, even with heater maximum , and heater in bathroom was not working too

Very friendly staff and great location! Would recommend

Absolutely no Coöporation or willingness to help at the reception.
Will avoid this hotel during next visits.

This had all the feel of a hotel aimed at the business person market. The restaurant was devoid of people on a Saturday night and the meal was disappointing and expensive. The reception staff were helpful and friendly.

The hotel was very modern and absolutely beautiful. The room was extremely comfortable and wonderful in size. Pleasantly surprised there was AC in room and also a mini fridge. Was surprised at lack of English ability with employees and signage for such a huge hotel. A card in room asked in English for guest to provide review, but all other signage, including restaurant menu is in German.

Location good- A/C not working properly only they did was give us two fans until next day then half off a suit for two days. Cost us $50 more. Should have been totally free.

Nice hotel. Car park was always busy so had to go to one some distance away. Nice breakfast. A spoon for the coffee would have been nice! As always, German staff spoke excellent English and were very helpful.

Great location and service... free WiFi actually works and staff are friendly and welcoming. Would definitely recommend or stay there again.

Closest hotel to train station. Breakfast is fairly overpriced, but other options are close by. I really like this hotel because it's so close to the jogging trail on the river. However, it's a little further away from the nice restaurants in old town (but a pleasant walk without luggage).

This is my go-to hotel when in Saarbrucken. This hotel is a short walk from the main train station. The rooms are large relative to many others in the area. After a week in tiny European hotel rooms, the space was a relief. Breakfast was good with a good variety. The rooms are slightly dated but well maintained and clean.

Quiet location near the riverwalk and only two blocks from the train station. Clean and comfortable rooms and English speaking staff.

Lovely hotel, very good service, very clean and comfortable. Parking spaces are limited and the bottled water was very very expensive. But overall a pleasant stay.

Nice location, close to things shops and food. Clean, nice hotel.

AC did not work and the room was 80+ degreesF. When brought to the staff’s attention they simply replied “this is Germany, not that hot”.

The hotel was quite adequate for our stay and had the advantage of being well situated close to the train station, but didn’t really stand out in any way.

Super central: directly by the water and only a minute away from shopping, restaurants and central station.Very clean room, quiet, well-furnished, windows can be opened, elegant and spacious bathroom.

Car park was full so the hotel recommended Q park down the road which wasn’t ideal. It took 30min to get my car out early morning as the car park was locked up (it was Easter Sunday) but it was secure!

Didn't expect charge for parking especially for a motorcycle.

Was only a one night stop on long drive across Europe !!
Fantastic service - emasculate !!
Shame view was obscured by scaffold and not informed of such ?
That aside - great place

Hotel nice very clean in a very nice area of the city convenient near to the shops and restaurants and I recommend it . With nice views

Very good location and a decent place to stay in this really nice city. My only major issue is the price residents have to pay for breakfast. For €17.50 you expect at least a few truffles and caviar on toast. But alas! Bar closes a bit early but there are a few nice places for a late drink in the surrounding area. I was placed in a room facing the river that was really nice BUT the road that runs parallel with it is pretty noisy 24/7. Closing the window helps of course but you can still hear the cars/vans/buses/trucks and tractors passing by.

Great room overlooking the river. The staff was friendly and very helpful! Will definitely stay at the Mercure on our next trip to Germany!!

Average hotel. Clean enough comfortable enough, but all just OK, nothing stood out. Restaurant food wasn't great either - I ate at 9.30pm and felt I must have been served whats been sitting in the bottom of the pan all day, dry and not much taste (its not difficult to make pasta). Also I had the superior room, it was anything but superior and I dread to think what a standard room would be like. And I only found out at check out that the minibar was free, would have been nice to be told this earlier (although it did only have about 3 things in it). It was in a good location and reasonable value for what it is though I suppose - which in my view is a 3 star hotel.

The hotel was fine and comfortable. Nothing special but ok. But location wasn't inspiring (although close to river) and only about 15-20mins walk from town centre. But town was uninspiring. A fine place to stay for business but not so great for holiday.
1.5
Our first non-smoking room stank of old cigarette smoke. We got a new room however and the people at the reception were helpful and friendly. Nonetheless you don’t expected that non-smoking rooms on non-smoking floors should smell of cigarettes 2014.
2.5
Even better if wifi speed in the room could be improved
